How come it has not been fixed for some people? Perhaps it would only appear in a new range of brightness level?

Great news man. I’m happy for all of you who own the new 12 series. If all goes well I might get the 12 or the 12 mini I’m coming weeks.
Won’t regret it, 12 series are the best phones on the market. Loving my 12 pro max. 👌 The A14 Bionic beast, handles everything with ease, no heat, no lag, camera works amazingly well, great photos, flawless device. 👌😍

Raised blacks is not fixed. 12 Pro. I clearly see in the letter boxes when watching content. HBO Max. After clicking on the screen to bring up the translucent UI, the letter boxes glow green. Bah hum bug.

No issues on my iPhone 12 Mini. I tested the green tinting and raised blacks for several days (dark room, dark mode, changing brightness levels low/high, restarting the phone) and no issues for me. Still running on iOS 14.4.

The one thing that may bother me a bit, is when tilting the phone sideways, the display color shifts slightly to bluish/green, but otherwise, when looking at the display from a normal angle, then it is all good. Do you see this as well on your phones?

Maybe this is normal for OLED displays?
True Tone is off.

What you’re seeing there is normal oled behavior, all oled panels have a slight tint when tilting the phone.

Strange how the recent beta fixed the issue for some people and not for others.

What happens now to the people who still have the green tint problem? 🤔

I was considering returning my phone due to the shifting of the color when tilting the phone sideways.
So is this normal?

Yes it’s normal, all phones with oled panels do this.

Guys. As a Mini owner I suggest all of you to stay calm. As I experience raised black I know it is frustrating. But I’d like to point one thing out. When Mini came out it had touch screen issues. A lot of people were saying those are some hardware, conductivity issues. Apple released a fix with iOS 14.2.1 but touch issues were fixed only in the Lock Screen and you could still experience them in settings, messages app, etc. back then people were saying it’s because it is hardware and cannot be fixed entirely. But full fix came with 14.3.

so I assume and hope for same approach here. They implement first stage of fixes and will expand it with further releases of iOS beta or not beta.
If summer comes and we still experience bugs, we can go to Apple store or authorized service provider and request an exchange of the screen. This is what I plan to do. And for know - just calmly wait.

So I decided to install iOS 14.5 b2, and I checked the raised blacks and green tint. My observation are:

1. Raised blacks are fixed, apparently flickering is also gone.
2. The green tint has definitely improved. Greys are grey above 20% brightness, however, below 20% brightness the greys appear slightly greenish. But greys appear greenish on even pixel 2 and Huawei P30 Pro at low brightness. So seems its the way it should be or may be it's my eyes.

So, yes Apple fixed it.

The display panel serial number starts with G9N and yes I reported the issue to apple, right up to engineering team.

Oh no 3 months!!! That’s like 3 months! Androids take years!
Don’t care about androids, never liked them, doesn't matter what they’re up to. These iPhones should’ve never been released with the raised black issues.

This was a quality control mistake by Apple. Glad to hear they finally fixed it though.

Did the display issue really affected most (if not all) folks daily lives? No. Did it prevent you from watching movies? Did it prevent you from gaming? Did it prevent you from texting? Did it prevent you from surfing porn? Did it prevent you from using your productivity app?

So, you want Apple to release an iPhone only after ALL bugs are solved? Does that sound ridiculous to you too? It does to me. Overly dramatic much?

For people who say it’s fixed (I believe you), but can you please confirm you don’t see it in this example.

Go to Photo’s and view a bright photo that doesn’t fill up the entire screen. Cover just the photo with your hand or a piece of paper and look at the letter boxes. Of course in a dark room and around 20%-50% brightness.

Much appreciated!

Yes, it is ridiculous they released the iPhone 12 with the raised black issues when they didn’t have this problem on the 3 previous OLED models they released. It was an obvious oversight by Apple.

It doesn’t matter if most people couldn’t notice it. The OLED screen wasn’t operating properly on these 12s.

And OF COURSE things should be released bug free. What kind of standards do you have? Any at all?
