Still doesn’t mean it won’t take Apple a whole year to fix it. But you’re right, the symptoms do appear to be different.

Raised blacks are a function of too much voltage across the OLED pixels essentially making them light up when there should be no voltage. The green tint could likely be a calibration issue however I suspect it’s the green sub pixels that are getting the incorrect voltage. Which results in both, green raised blacks.

Ive observed the issue in all states on my 12 Pro. Even during the start up splash screen with the Apple logo. It will flash on and off.

I suppose it could be called a thermal management (increased voltage) issue or something else. it just depends on whatever Apple wants to label it as if they acknowledge it at all.

Either way I fully expect it to be fixed by software. It’s funny, when ever there is a problem with a device everyone cries hardware. It almost always ends up being software. By a long shot.
Not to be an ass, but as I said before, I don't think this is as SW issue, or Apple's going to fix it. Sorry.

How can anyone expect Apple to fix something which they’ve never publicly acknowledged as a problem?

Apart form the green tint issue which they have acknowledged and will fix in the future, there is no yellow tint problem in there eyes, that’s the way they’ve calibrated the screens. 😜🤷‍♂️🧐📱

Opps thought it was the yellow screen thread 😂 you been living under a rock 🧐🪨 they said they’ll fix the raised blacks issue a while ago. 😊

Nice try. Internal memo notifications do not equal to acknowledging the problem to the masses i.e. the customers. There is a difference. I suggest you should tone down on sarcasms and be more open to discussions, unless you are looking to get your account suspended, again.

You sure about that. 😊

The problem has been fixed before and will be fixed again, people are stressing out over nothing, (highly unlikely) if it can't be fixed, apple has the best customer service in the business, so everything will work out in the end.

In the document, shared with Apple Authorized Service Providers this week, Apple says that it is aware of customer reports related to this issue and is investigating. Apple has advised technicians to avoid servicing affected iPhones, at least for now, and instead inform customers that they should keep their iPhone up to date with the latest iOS version. This guidance suggests that Apple may be confident that it can fix the issue in a future software update.

A similar green tinted display issue affected some iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max models, and Apple was able to fix it in iOS 13.6.1.

Well, why do you think they don’t officially acknowledge that? So there aren’t millions of customers worldwide becoming aware of an issue 95 % never would have noticed and wanting to return their phones, all the bad press etc. So they acknowledged it internally and try to quietly solve it. Makes perfect sense.

But you're speaking from Apple's point of view. I mean Apple is no stranger to such bad press due to product launch issues; for example the antennagate with iPhone 4. That situation, in my opinion, was handled perfectly. From the press, Q&A and the options given to customers: keep the 4 and wait for an algorithm update, buy a case and Apple will waive the cost or simply return the product. There was a clear timeframe given by Apple to what is going to happen and how Apple is going to fix this. Even with publicly acknowledging the issue, I don't recall a mass product returns faced by Apple back when the 4 was launched. Can you honestly say the same level of attention is given to the "raised blacks" issue that people are facing with the 12 series? We are in the middle of Feb and there were four point-updates already. Little things like this go a long way to build trust and patience with customers. Being cynical doesn't make sense at all.

All I am saying is, at this juncture we can only HOPE rather than EXPECT Apple will fix this through a software update.

Edit: We must absolutely consider that there are people who are not enjoying the display experience with the iPhone 12 but still hanging on to their phone hoping and believing Apple will one day fix this. I believe these people need more customer care service from Apple, instead of second-hand info sent down from an internal document and what not.

It’s actually true. I wouldn’t believe it, but after updating I’m relieved to report it seems fixed! Hallelujah! It’s even mentioned in the “Resolved Issues” in release notes.
Don’t think this is the green tint fix, since it mentions iPad as well 🤦‍♂️

Resolved in iOS & iPadOS 14.5 Beta 2

  • iOS & iPadOS 14.5 beta 2 includes an optimization to reduce the appearance of a dim glow that might appear at reduced brightness levels with black backgrounds.

I haven’t had problems with the “green tint” though. I’ve only encountered the raised blacks which is fixed.

Thank goodness! I noticed this within the first day of owning my 12 Pro and was pretty disappointed. I’ve just lived with it since and am so relieved to hear it’s down to software!
