3x optical zoom is nice, but not at the expense of the 50 mm 2x lens - that is perfect for portraits. I'd rather have ultra wide, 50 mm and 70-80 mm.

Instead of an ultra-expensive $1100 iPhone, best option for me would be $600 iPad Pro mini 9" + $500 small modern looking iPhone (not the old-fashioned SE with huge bezels).

First I've heard of 3x optical zoom.

That opens-up more possibilities for capturing Sports & Wildlife !

Same here. Every other piece of info in this article has been told to us over and over again, but 3x zoom is new.

I upgrade every year, but man... The iPhone X was awesome, 11 Pro Max is awesome and now this 12 Pro is going to take things to the next level. I’m excited.

I really hope this is true. 120Hz should be the standard for all displays, couple it with VRR and it would lead to potentially better energy consumption, better gaming experiences, better user experience.

Yes just one thing we need, heavier iPhones. Be courageous and bring back thinner and lighter iPhones. They are now bricks.

So you don’t want FaceID, ProMotion, longer battery life. You’re fine with less DRAM to get more battery life? What about a slower CPU to use less power. No? So you’re fine with less storage? Or you want it more expensive? Thinner glass? Thinner aluminum? No, wait, stronger aluminum? Price just jumped up again. No OLED, just LCD?

Engineering is a series of tradeoffs. My advice - go find a brick and compare it your iPhone and try and make that same statement with a straight face.

"according to unreliable leaker Max Weinbach"

I don't get it. If this dude is unreliable, why write this article?

Because it’s called MacRumors, not MacFACTS.

So now the iPhone Pro models are supposed to have 6.1” and 6.7” displays? I thought the 6.1” phone was supposed to be the cheaper phone and that the 5.4” phone would be a smaller version of the 6.7” Pro model.
They are doing 4 new iPhones (two new 12- 5.4" and 6.1" and 2 new iPhone 12 pro- 6.1" and 6.7") most likely bumped the pro screen sizes because of 5G and needing a larger battery.

I believe originally (not sure when, but definitely a while back) the early rumours suggested the 5.8 going to 5.4 and 6.5 going to 6.7. But for a while now there’s been a decent number of rumours mentioning 5.4 & 6.1 for the “12” and 6.1 and 6.7 for the “12 Pro”.

I’m happy with my 11 Pro for a few years. Personally speaking, we’re at a point of ever decreasing reasons to upgrade every year.

Agreed. Definitely not a need to upgrade every year. Nice improvements, but year over year upgrades have really not been necessary. I upgraded every year from the original iPhone through to the iPhone X. Used the X for 2 years until the 11 Pro. Even now when I pick up my X once in a while, it still feels like an excellent device, still quick with iOS 13, and besides the camera I would have happily kept using it until the 2020 iPhone.

Regular iPhone 12 is gonna be where it’s at. I think even the techies are starting to realize there’s not really any real world differences anymore between the standard and pro models. At least not enough to justify spending an extra $300+

tbh I mostly buy the „Pro“ for the material and looks. Also it would bother me knowing there is something „better“. Shallow? Maybe ... but I don’t care haha

Sounds like nothing to me. Other than 5g there’s no reason to upgrade. And that’s probably not worthwhile either.

5G
Pro motion
Better cameras, night mode and better zoom
New design
Same price

I would say this is a rather big upgrade

If Weinbach is unreliable, why is MacRumors sharing any sort of possible leaks tied to him? I am excited for promotion displays on the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. I am probably opting for the Pro.

This isn’t particularly specific. Will it ever be consistently running at 120hz?

I think it will function like the iPad's pro motion displays. If that is dynamically adjusting to content, then that's how the iPhone will work. Android has a display refresh rate toggle on some devices.

He already has a platform and it’s very visible. If we skip it, people think we just didn’t see it.

As explained.
