I might hold on for another yr since I got a 12 pro, and I'll be done paying it to my carrier in december.
However if I were to jump it would be really for a 1TB option
128GB got me up to my neck ayo

After seeing the photo taken by iPhone 12 Pro Max under mid-low light conditions, I know Apple will never make their iPhone camera works wonders in that condition (which unfortunately I encounter very often) without massive overhaul of the camera system or groundbreaking lens technologies.

So the camera is off the limit. 5G? Uhh, good to have sure. Coverage isn't quite there yet tho.
OLED? I am not 20 years old anymore and OLED screen to me feels about the same as LCD in most cases.
ProMotion? I use iPad Pro daily, and MacBook Pro + Windows PC doesn't have ProMotion. Doesn't feel much difference even in gaming.
Always-on display seems to be nice to have, but my Apple Watch series 4 doesn't have it. Maybe I will appreciate more when I actually use it.
Wi-Fi 6E has no material benefit unless the internet speed is 1Gbps up/down.
Notch... ugh, now MacBook notch is everywhere. I hate it, but oh well 🥱🤷🏻

I am running out of storage though. If I cannot find a way to drag on this for another year, I might be forced to upgrade just to get 512GB of storage. Time will tell.

Why are they comparing to the iPhone 12 Pro and not the iPhone 13 pro?
I want to see features and comparisons versus this year not from the past....

Most people don’t upgrade every year. For those who do, this comparison is irrelevant because they will buy anyway.

Futuristic visions and prophetic perceptions by AI cloud lord Nostradumbras have revealed the new models will be:

iPhone 14!

Crowd cheers.

iPhone 14 Pro!

So much whistling.

iPhone 14 Max!

So much whoa.

iPhone 14 Ultra!!!!

Crowd leaves the Apple Event and waits outside Apple Store for 3 weeks.

My iPhone 12 Pro is at 85% battery capacity right now... As soon as it drops below 80%, I'll change the battery and wait for the 15 Pro... Then I guess I'll switch, mainly because of USB-C, Pro Motion, and 3 years of camera improvements...

Ok so like at least $1300 dollars to trade in and upgrade. Carriers in Canada don't give you anything unless you pay a ridiculous amount for your phone plan. That's still a lot of money to upgrade and the phone has to be in immaculate condition to get a good trade in value.

Still a lot of money.

I can't speak to Canadian deals but the U.S. price for a new 128GB iPhone 13 Pro is $999. If someone were trading an 11 Pro, they could deduct $300 from Apple with no plan requirements or $400 to $800 or so from carriers with plan/term requirements. They could also try to sell the phone privately themselves.

Whether or not it's worth trading every two years is up to the individual. I was only pointing out that you're not having to pay 100% for the new phone every two years when you factor in resale value of current phone.

I'm still happy with my 12 Pro Max, so not sure if I'll upgrade. The main thing I wish it had was ProMotion, for the occasion I watch TV/movies, a lot of that is 23.976 / 24 fps and sometimes I notice judder at 60Hz. More battery life is welcome, but its only when I'm traveling when I need to carry a battery pack. Battery health at 87%.

Macro mode would also be nice. The 12 Pro Max has a larger minimum focus distance than the 12 Pro, and sometimes requires pulling the phone back to get a focused shot.

Leaning towards not upgrading and just getting a new battery when I'm due for one, but we'll see what the actual details before I make a decision.

No ones talking about the 1 TB storage, I’d that’s the case will iCloud storage come down in price and increase in size. More space means more photo taking and video recording for me.

If your apps run fine, and you can run the latest OS for some feature you want... is there any other point to spend the money other than vanity? Replace the battery if that starts to go, otherwise, why not ride it out? I'm up to three reasons to move off my iPhone 7 now, but not very compelled to do so... Digital Drivers license if/when it becomes available, maybe the pinpoint accuracy of Apple Airtags? (Which by the way, NEED a family share feature still), and not saying I'm swayed from what I see so far, iOS 16.
I’m on the exact same boat. Fully agree!

Waiting for usb-c is not a big issue for me. I have so many extra lightning cables lying around and it's been a pretty reliable connection over the years.

Yup and I'm just saying most Canadians don't have 1300+ to spend on their phone every two years. Exchange rates kill non Americans on the cost of Apple products. I feel like a lot of Americans in this forum kind of forget about that. Not just exchange but our lowest sales tax province is like 12% GULP!

Even more fun to buy a new car.

Waiting! Spring edition of the Iphone 15 pro (maybe pro max) will be the next time I upgrade. If there isn't USB-C by then...the wait will be even longer.

Only one of these generates waste.

1. Selling the old phone
2. Keeping the old phone as a backup
3. Throwing out the old phone
1. Delays the inevitable, it’s better to sell less phones that end up in a reseller’s warehouse than more
2. 6 phones lying around is not a backup, that’s a hoarding problem, a backup is using a NAS or cloud and having the money for a second hand iPhone if it comes to that (which if you have the money to buy a new phone each year…)

This is exactly what I'm waiting on.

After you've used a device with a periscope camera, anything less is frustrating. What Apple offers now is pathetic in comparison sadly.
couldn't agree more. however: not really any rumors about the zoom lens & camera so far, right?
