Still nothing to make me want to upgrade. Nothing. Zero. I want a completely different phone. I’m tired of iPhones being incremental upgrades like MacBooks. This is getting old. Waiting to see if the 15 is worth my time.
My 12Pro is a launch-day device. All I plan on doing this October is replacing the battery. No reason to do anything other than that.

Yes. I updated from 11 pro max to 13 pro and I thought “ok, nothing spectacular”, but a few months later when I casually grabbed my wife’s 12 I could not believe how ugly the non-pro motion display are.
The photos are also somewhat nicer under some low light scenarios and the zoom is sometimes appreciated.
The battery is also a little better, and the 11 pro max is already impressive.
Worth it.
I have a iphone 13pm. I do not apparently have the eyes to notice promotion compared to my work iPhone 12 or my old ipad

all these displays look good to me

I had the 12 pro max and hated the size.

Upgraded a few weeks ago and got a 13 mini because I knew the mini is going.

Best size ever. I love it.

Exchange rates kill non Americans on the cost of Apple products. I feel like a lot of Americans in this forum kind of forget about that. Not just exchange but our lowest sales tax province is like 12% GULP!

$1,399 CAD is about $1,074 USD right now. 7.5% higher than the $999 in the states but we also don't have the level of sales tax. Anyway, going from an 11 Pro to a 128GB 13 Pro would be around $199 USD to $699 USD (plus tax) in the U.S. depending on what (if any) carrier/plan offer someone chooses.

Given that many customers upgrade their iPhones every two to three years nowadays, there are still plenty of iPhone 12 Pro owners who might be interested in upgrading to the iPhone 14 Pro later this year. While year-over-year iPhone updates are often incremental, the new features begin to stack up after two generations.

iPhone-12-Pro-vs-iPhone-14-Pro-Feature.jpg

As a refresher, we've put together a list of new features and changes to expect if you upgrade from an iPhone 12 Pro to an iPhone 14 Pro. The list includes features that Apple added to the iPhone 13 Pro last year and features rumored for the iPhone 14 Pro, which Apple is expected to announce in September as usual.
  • A16 chip vs. A14 chip: The A15 chip in the iPhone 13 Pro is already up to 20% faster than the A14 chip in the 12 Pro, according to Geekbench 5, and performance should improve even more with the A16 chip in the iPhone 14 Pro.
  • Brighter display: Compared to the iPhone 12 Pro, the 14 Pro's display should have up to 200 nits higher peak brightness.
  • No more notch: Rumors suggest Apple will replace the notch with a pill-shaped cutout and a hole for the Face ID sensors and front camera on the iPhone 14 Pro.
  • ProMotion: Introduced on the iPhone 13 Pro, ProMotion allows for a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz for smoother appearing content and scrolling.
  • Always-on display: Rumors suggest the iPhone 14 Pro will feature an always-on display mode that shows the time, date, and iOS 16's new Lock screen widgets.
  • Longer battery life: Already, the iPhone 13 Pro gets 22 hours of video playback vs. 17 hours for the 12 Pro, and rumors suggest that iPhone 14 Pro models could feature even larger battery capacities.
  • Many camera improvements: iPhone 12 Pro users upgrading to the 14 Pro will get many camera upgrades, including a rumored 48-megapixel Wide lens on the rear camera with support for 8K video recording, an upgraded front camera with autofocus, increased optical zoom, sensor-shift image stabilization, Macro mode, Cinematic mode, ProRes video recording, Photographic Styles, and more.
  • Wi-Fi 6E: iPhone 14 models are rumored to support Wi-Fi 6E, allowing the device to connect to Wi-Fi networks using the 6GHz band.
  • 5G improvements: iPhone 13 Pro models feature more 5G bands than 12 Pro models for greater 5G coverage, and the iPhone 14 Pro is expected to use Qualcomm's newer Snapdragon X65 modem for improved 5G performance.
  • 1TB storage option: Unlike the iPhone 12 Pro, the 14 Pro should be available with at least a 1TB storage option.

Will stick with my X for one more year, still a great phone, slowing up, but still great after a battery swap.

No ones talking about the 1 TB storage, I’d that’s the case will iCloud storage come down in price and increase in size. More space means more photo taking and video recording for me.
Simply 1TB storage is just insane considering the price. And with 1TB, USB-C becomes mandatory. Apple hits a boundary here. With my GoPro I can use 512GB SD Cards and simply swap em - the iPhone is no „pro“ camera simply because it has neither exchangeable mass storage nor has it decent transfer speeds.

For some people the iPhone camera is reasonable in a pro environment. But mostly point and shoot, quick videos, catching a scenery. But with 1TB the iP will be around $2000 I guess and if you drop it you‘ll have to pay extra $600 to replace the backcover …

So the yearly upgrade is so small now that we have to be shown differences for a 2-yearly upgrade instead? lol

If your apps run fine, and you can run the latest OS for some feature you want... is there any other point to spend the money other than vanity? Replace the battery if that starts to go, otherwise, why not ride it out? I'm up to three reasons to move off my iPhone 7 now, but not very compelled to do so... Digital Drivers license if/when it becomes available, maybe the pinpoint accuracy of Apple Airtags? (Which by the way, NEED a family share feature still), and not saying I'm swayed from what I see so far, iOS 16.
I totally agree. This is why I still use my iPhone X. Every year I think about getting a new one but then I always realize that I couldn't do anything with the new phone that can't already do with my X. The camera is still a good camera, I don't play any games or use any super heavy apps, therefore I don't care about the performance, I replaced the battery and still get great battery life, and the design is more or less the same too (especially when you use a case).
As long as it's not getting unusable slow, I'm not going to replace it.

Sounds pretty good to me. I guess all these upgrades do add up to a lot over more than one generation

Literally NO idea why some people have such a hard on for USB-c. Why would anyone want it to have something that’s inferior to lightening and is used on cheap knockoff Chinese phones. Won’t ever happen anyway thankfully, Apple will just go completely wireless if forced to drop lightening

Should be a very good upgrade for those with 12 Pro/Pro Max. Removal of notch, ProMotion, Always on Display will be the main improvements along with hopefully a much better camera on the 14 Pro Max.

Why the hell would you upgrade away from a phone that's just 2 years old? That's incredibly wasteful. I will never understand the mindset of people who do that.

Why don’t you design the iPhone you want, send it to Apple and ask to make it for you!

Why fix it if it isn't broken? The phone is perfect. Do me a favor and look up literally any car brand and compare say a ford 2016 vs 2017. Do you expect them to change it every year? lol

Get a android if you feel this way

I won’t be upgrading. My iPhone 12 Pro Max works great, and still receives software updates, so I’ll wait until it either dies or stops receiving software updates.

Yes!!! The last couple days my screen has turned so dark I can barely see it. What's going on?
Heat throttling. And a lot of stuff in amusement parks is in the app, which is nearly useless when you can't read anything.

Vapour chamber coming
I saw that. I wonder how much that will help against the hot sun compared to it just keeping it cooler when running it hard. An amusement park app is far from taxing I'm sure, but the hot sun makes everything unreadable.

But if you had never upgraded, you would never have noticed. Ignorance is bliss?

My launch day 12 Pro Max battery capacity is at 82%. I have to charge 2-3 times a day and no matter where I go, I’ve had to carry a battery pack for the last year. I’m definitely preordering the 14 Pro Max and keeping my 12 Pro Max as a backup phone and get the battery replaced once it hits 80%.

Honestly, I could upgrade this year and it would be a nice upgrade, but I don't know if I really need it. Sure ProMotion and a bit of extra battery life are nice, but even with my battery starting to go, it would only cost me $80 if I didn't have AppleCare to get a new battery. I'll just wait for the 15 to be on USB-C so nearly everything I have uses USB-C.

Hate to tell you this but Apple is going USB-C next year
