Tim Cook the supply chain master doing what he does best again - chasing after the last cent to maximise profits.... instead of focusing his energy on designing breakthrough products and envisioning the future like Steve Jobs.
Steve Jobs was a genius, but he was a psychopath that demanded just as much or more out of his employees and partners.

Tim Cook has a resume unmatched by any CEO on the world. He’s done an amazing job with Apple...Better than Jobs on many metrics.

You really want to be owned by the CCP?

Buying a product that is assembled in China doesn’t make me any more under the thumb of the CCP as owning any other product made in China. And I am pretty sure that unless you are living under a rock, you will likely own something that has passed through China at some point.

I'm always amused by the people who shout "screw you Apple!" over labour conditions, and then rush to use a Windows PC made in similar conditions, an Xbox made in similar conditions, an Android phone made in similar conditions... it's really just a thinly-veiled attempt to tie their irrational hatred of Apple to a sense of moral superiority.

LOL at all clueless comments from random western guys that know nothing about China
  1. It’s not communism. It’s the opposite of communism. Regardless of what CCP stands for.
  2. It’s difficult to find a job in China. And Foxconn is a rather ok alternative if you have no education.
  3. Regarding no vacation. This is basically true for the entire China. When you have a holiday, you then have to work an extra days to “compensate” for that holiday.
  4. Regarding the low salary. My wife’s father is a brain surgeon in China and earns $500 per month. Basically, the living cost is extremely low unless you live in the giant cities. And guess what, they don’t put factories where the cost of living is super high.

Having the announcement finally made will be nice as it will hopefully put an end to the numerous rumors.

I'm interested in this year's line up and will either go for an SE2 or something 12ish depending on features...

You haven’t heard of the iPhone 13?

I’d be holding out for that if I was you.

Apple's main iPhone manufacturer in China is said to be cancelling workers' holidays and introducing mandatory overtime with additional bonuses for longer-serving staff, according to information garnered from employees, recruitment ads, and local media.

This is sad and should be discouraged for humanistic reasons. It is not like Apple’s existing hardware range is lacking in any area. Does it really matter if we get a new iPhone in October, November, December or January? We can wait another few months, especially if we know it might significantly reduce someone else’s suffering.

when you believe a graphic made by people who doenst want China image to be a bad thing....and you dont believe the actual reality...never believe what comes from China, Rusia or USA. Facts dont lie, people do for their "own" country

I gave you a link, now you prove to me it's otherwise.
Statica is not a low end site, they base their data on facts.

I think you believe what Trump says every time too

Be careful what you say, this is not a PSRI thread.

Apple supporting COMMUNISM once again... Move your factories somewhere else!!!
You realize Communism aims to eliminate exploitation of the working class don’t you? This activity bears no resemblance to Communism. It’s far more like the unregulated Capitalism of the early 20th Century that Marx feared and predicted, and which inspired him to develop his theories. No less awful for Apple to support it though.

Fight hypocrisy with hypocrisy. Irrational goes both ways. It’s an endless war on these forums. Apple is no saint, and neither are other companies.

Just because other companies in other countries do it, it does not excuse Apple doing it. As for the 24hrs a day thing, I said the 'workforce', not the individual worker. This implies that the 'workforce' will be required to work in shifts, possibly two shifts of 12hrs which is common place around the world BUT to run a factory 24hrs a day requires the complete workforce to be in attendance. I wonder if Apple has considered convid-19 safety practices for it's manufacturing workforce. I bet it would not be long before production is halted due to a number of workers getting the virus but of course the west wont know because such information will be hidden from the public.

I overlooked workforce, it happens, those people are there 24 hours a day because they are far away from where they actually live, they live in dorms just because of this.
I am not saying it would be my choice, but, they make a lot more money than back where they live, why do you think 10's if not 100s of millions travel back home for (newer) holidays, yes, for money and they are not forced to.

The outrage must be coming from the unemployed people here because this sounds a lot like my job in America. Difference is, the incentive for my overtime is keeping my job.

In short, welcome to corporate America. Frankly, welcome to working.

Or maybe it comes from people living in countries more advanced in this regard. I hold a good position (management but not leadership level) at a multi billion euro tech/communications company in the EU. While I often have to work overtime (more or less manditory too), I still get 30 days of paid holidays guaranteed plus 10 additional unpaid optionally plus unlimited sick days that are not deducted from my holidays. Additionally, we have public holidays of course.

What I am saying is that the USA may not be the best standard in this regard :)

24 hours a day? Something about that doesn’t sit right with me. A rushed production schedule leaves lots of room for mistakes in the quality department. I’m going to be very upset if my 12 has dust in the cameras or chips on the body. And if it does then I already know the reason behind it.

Can we please leave the Trump talk out? It doesn't have to be inserted into everything.

There's plenty of Apple related stuff to argue about 😂

I've found most people totally misunderstand the word and like to throw it around everywhere.

I even had one person once tell me that the idea of a TV license in the UK was "communism"!

The American economy is the strongest in the world. “More advanced” might just mean you’re comfortable with lower productivity and less GDP. Love us or hate us, we know how to make money. I’m not saying it’s the right answer either...but it’s the reason.

Turn off the news. America is a fantastic place to live.

I work a corporate job at one of the biggest companies in the world and I get 25 days off plus holidays. But I work hard at work.

If you extrapolate what would have happened if Steve Jobs was still here, Apple would literally be over the moon with innovation. Tim Cook is just slacking off and recycling Steve Jobs's products legacy, like reusing the same iPad design for 7 YEARS AND COUNTING (granted it is a low cost ipad, but the point is to improve on the tech every year without jacking up the price significantly like the case of iPad Pro)

Stopped reading at your first statement. There is NO WAY to extrapolate where Apple “would be” if Jobs were living. What we do know is Apple is in a FANTASTIC position and has grown tremendously under Tim Cook. In fact, he’s added more value than any CEO in history.

China and India are growing at a faster pace than the US. Ina few years time it's entirely possible that the US will be #2...

But you can't. The world is a totally different place now than it was 10 years ago.

It's impossible to say that Apple would have been better or worse if he was still alive.

Jobs was far from perfect. He released an iPhone with a flawed antenna and then tried to tell everybody that they were holding it wrong!

And yet, so many people support socialist policies here in the US that would lead to exactly the thing they're complaining about happening in China......
