Not seeing fantastic results today. 3.5hr SoT with 75% battery usage. Quite a lot of use on cellular in the morning and from 16:30. Feel a bit underwhelmed tbh unless there’s some software fixes inbound.. considering a hard reset as I transferred from my older iPhone 11 Pro.View attachment 1857571
Be VERY wary with the hard reset. It ducked up my battery percentage indicator (stuck). I had to DFU restore and I'm not sure yet if I fixed it or not. Don't hard reset my man. Restore as new, that you can do.

I don’t understand screen off time. Last 24hrs shows 2hrs screen off time, but I definitely haven’t been using my phone for that long with the screen off. What else counts towards screen off time?

Did you make phone calls? Used the phone tethered to Bluetooth in the car? Have been messaging and receiving notifications on whatsapp/telegram?

Seems to be pretty good. Reddit seems to be in the background longer than expected

Any advice what I should do? My 13 Pro Max battery has just got horrible today. Just lost 3% in 22 min surfing the web. Didn’t touch the phone between 9am and 11am and went from 100 to 93. Should I just wipe it out and start over? Before the official release my battery life was crazy good. After 15.01 has been completely sporadic.

make sure you have a safari extension like wipr ($1.99) or ka-block (free). I use wipr. only $1.99 so I'll take it since they update the blocklist twice weekly and block any crypto mining malware.

edit: hats off to those that are uploading additional battery usage details PER APP. goes a long way.

* macrumors website runs hot, so I suggest using an adblocker (again, use the safari extension, which is new for ios 15, not an actual app like 1blocker). Once I installed it the heat dissipated
* disable location-based settings in privacy settings menu below
* disable "hey siri" as its enabled by default. would definitely turn that off
* dark mode (obvious) but I'm seeing a good number of folks not using this option
* disable background refresh for selected apps or entirely

* use this highly touted guide to maximize battery life as well

The only location system services I have enabled are Emergency Calls & SOS, Find My iPhone, Networking & Wireless.

Thanks for this!

But if you want to turn on optimised battery charging, you need to enable location services and systems customisation and significant locations.

Here are a list of settings that must be enabled:

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Location Services.
Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > System Customisation.
Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations > Significant Locations.

Appreciate this. I have done all of these things except disable Hey Siri. Hopefully it will settle down.

I have a 13 PM 1 tb. Battery life is good, at least 24 hours with normal usage.
My problem is that the phone gets really hot at times. For instance, when using Skype about ten minutes into the video call, the back of the phone got quite hot. Earlier today, on a FaceTime video call, 10-15 minutes into the call the video was gone and I had an exclamation mark in the center of the screen.
Do your phones get hot like this?

thanks for this wasnt aware of the location services options that needed to be enabled to take advantage of optimized charging.

Did any of you experience a mismatch between battery usage and battery level on the first days of using the phone?

Trying to understand if it's normal on the first day after a restore. Today I used 39% of battery but the day bar was roughly 27% tall. Yesterday I restored again, used 50% of battery but the bar was just 5% tall (so today it's better but still not perfect as before restoring the first time). Sorry if I'm obsessing a little about this

Uhm I’m thinking that maybe it doesn’t record battery lost on reboots

I am not using OBC. I use a HomeKit smart plug and I have it set to stop charging at 85%.

I had en episode with the camera app and photos app churn out a lot of battery. But I don't think it happens all the time
