13 Pro Max. Day 1. It’s crazy. I don’t do too much on my phone but I’m still at 37% battery after 24 hours with 9.5 screen on time. Brightness is usually 50-75% (auto but I keep it fairly bright) and most of it was on wifi, about 2 hours on 5G. Considering the first day is filled with my phone restoring from cloud backup and downloading apps… on top of regular worklaod… What a beast!
I can’t for the life of me figure out how people are getting twice the SOT I’m getting? What settings are you running?

It may just be a different usage case. I use my phone to browse Reddit, listen to Spotify, browse the web, and I spent a lot of time on discord & reading books (that's my top usage app). The book reading app barely uses battery.

Sounds very similar to me. I browse Reddit, twitter, safari(with Adblock) an a little YouTube. I can watch my phone drop a percentage point seems like every 5-10 min. Sometime more. Sometime less. I may do a DFU install next week and not use a backup. Thing is my first week I had it my battery life was crazy good but after the first iOS update it’s not been the same.

For me this is about as good as it gets on my 13 Pro.
  • Charged to 97% at about 12 PM just before I left the house
  • Used some Google Maps, Safari, a bit of Spotify and Signal (mostly on 5G or 4G)
  • At about 7 PM the phone was at about 35% and about 3h15 SOT. So about 64% battery drained with 195 minutes of SOT. Which would translate to roughly 5 hours of SOT to drain from 100% to 0%. Which is quite theoretical obviously, and not very realistic as you shouldn't let your phone die and get that close to 0%
  • Used it some more in the evening (about 30 min SOT), but not much
  • Didn't charge overnight, phone at about 17% in the morning
Maybe this is just normal, I don't know. Maybe my expectations were just too high for this phone's battery life. I was quite getting similar or even better results with my 1 year old Pixel 5, so to me it just doesn't feel all that great.

I would like to see more screenshots of people's battery life who are more in the 3h to 4h SOT range / day. Most people posting on here have a lot more than that.

For me those are also things that make my battery drop fast. Browsing and scrolling takes its toll. Basically the only thing that doesn't make it drop fast is watching video on wifi.

That’s good to know. I figured most things were the same except gaming.?‍♂️

How much battery drain you guys have if you only browse on Safari??? I use my phone mainly for browsing and instant messaging.

Thanks!!

I don't know if it's normal but my 13 Pro is similar sometimes. Meaning that with LTE and some apps the battery drain is brutal, like in the first part of your graph. If you use it seldomly it slopes down more gently like in the second part of your graph. But in the morning when I awake I can check mail and telegram 5 minutes and eat up 3% like it's nothing. I'm usually at 50% battery for 3 hours of screen time so it might be similar to yours as you had 4 hours of screen time. I think the 13 Pro in LTE with mixed usage can reach a maximum of 6 hours of total screen time. You can do more only in wifi and/or with more gentle usage (like watching many videos or light browsing). I expected better too. I still need to understand if this is normal, but might sell it next year for the 14 Max. Too big but it's really not worth it getting the regular Pro.

I agree. It's mostly something I just don't want to worry about for a phone that costs this much. Unfortunately it is. The way the battery drops also seems strange to me. Sometimes I can use the phone for 45 minutes and nothing happens, and then all of a sudden it starts going like crazy.

I am still charging my 13PM every second day. My usage is not that high, roughly 2 hrs per day of on-screen time. I last charged my phone to 96% on Friday at 3pm and right now I have 50% battery left.

The 13P of a friend of mine basically lasts double than mine. Need to investigate more the difference in use. I wish I had his graph:

iPhone 13 Pro Max
iOS 15.1

I decided to try and use my phone in Light Mode. Not specular battery life today. 4:37, 44% battery usage. Estimate for 100% battery usage, 10:29. I did see 0% battery drain in standby for about 7 hours, which is always a goof thing.

An update before I call it a night with the phone. 6:45, 56% battery used. Estimate to 100% battery usage, just over 12 hours. It could probably do more but calling it a night. I am happy with the battery life using Light Mode. Dark Mode easily saves a lot of battery life, maybe 1 or 2 hours more using Dark Mode vs Light mode. Kind of nice not looking at a dark screen all the time.

Ended the day with 13% on my 13PM. I think this was pretty good. Better than what I had a week ago.

Anyone else have Find My Phone constantly pinging location? I feel like it’s been on for days. I have had the location indicator on constantly either solid or the outline but every single time I check it’s Find My Phone.
Lost 12% yesterday night to this. Disabled my only AirTag, let's see. It never happened before.

The iOS Podcast app seems to be a massive battery drainer for me as well. Like 6% battery gone in 20 minutes of listening to a podcast on speaker with the screen turned off. Not good.
