Apple needs to be careful not to tarnish the "Pro" moniker with this release. I'm in the camp with some others that the use of "Pro" for iPhone 11 Pro was a bit of a stretch and it's looking like there will be even less this time to differentiate the 12 from the 12 Pro.

120 Hz + smaller notch should have happened this year.

Apple weaseled their way out of a true upgrade with the squared off body. They've gone the Apple Watch route, with the biggest update being an aesthetic one. Except the iPhone isn't even feature-saturated like the watch yet and desperately needs upgrades. The Pros are missing some of the most basic "pro" features expected in 2020-2021.

Because Apple does not want to ship 120Hz, they want to ship ProMotion. This variable refresh rate is not possible without LTPO panels.

There’s currently only one company that manufactures these panels for phones: Samsung Display (LG display only has a watch display line dedicated to making the Apple Watch displays). Samsung can’t manufacture enough of these panels this year for a product as big as the iPhone and these panels have to come from somewhere. People seem to think that Apple can just snap their fingers and that the panels magically appear.

Also, Apple “can figure this out” for sure because they literally invented LTPO technology for this purpose. For every Galaxy Note 20 Ultra+ Max or whatever Samsung sells with LTPO display technology they literally have to pay royalties to Apple for.
big deal
120hz on smartphones is viable even without LTPO technology which doesn't really make a huge difference in battery savings anyway. With clever software optimization Apple would be able to use a regular 120hz panel no problem. Just look at the OnePlus 8 Pro.

Big deal. If it were easy, every vendor in the world would have 120 mhz+. But there are significant trade offs in size and weight and battery life. To slap a 120 mhz panel on a phone is not innovation.
So what? Mi 10 Ultra is a China only phone in case you missed it, so it's not supposed to support T-mobile bands BUT from a technological stand point it really is a beast that show's what's possible today by pushing the envelope.
So what? The specs of this phone are similar to many other android phones. Apple is not about specs, it's about the experience. The companies valuation, revenue and profit, shows they may be on to something with that line of thinking and specs are not the be-all and end-all.

Yeah right.
Most smartphone manufactures other than Apple do use 120hz on at least one phone model. In most cases according to actual consumers the benefits of having 120hz outweigh the cons. I mean most phone manufacturers tried to increase the size of the battery in their 2020 phones unlike Apple which will have smaller batteries in their upcoming iphones.

Specs? I was talking about pushing the envelope, I'm taking from the consumer perspective so I DON'T CARE about things like companies valuation, revenue and profit bla bla. Mentioning these things only shows how weak your excuse is.
Any company can stay and wait, that's not something impressive. Xiaomi is just 10 years old as a smartphone manufacturer and it's already doing impressive things in the industry, that for me as a consumer and somebody that just likes technology in general is way more interesting.

I'm disappointed that the rumored 2021 iPhone SE 3 or SE 2 Plus is being pushed back to 2022. I was thinking of holding off until spring 2021 to upgrade my original iPhone SE but I don't want to wait until 2022 to upgrade. I guess I'll have to look more seriously at the iPhone 12 Mini or iPhone 11 once its price drops after the iPhone 12 introduction.
