Sure... if someone is buying their first iPhone today... they might have to buy a USB-C charger if they don't already have one. I can see that frustration.

They are adding new features too every year. And, old models become less expensive as soon as new ones are launched. Companies exist to make profit. Are you surprised?

I hope they never go portless. We need the ability to plug it into vehicles, computers and charging when wireless charging isn't available. Sorry but Lightening is long past stupid already. Why make iPads USB-C and not lightening or portless ? This is where apple is letting a few loud internet trolls ruin it for the rest of us.

Imagine a world where you can charge you phone, tablet, headphones and laptop from 1 single charger.... What about the cable nightmare we have, going USB-C solves that. Cars are coming with USB-C now. Just move on already

Apple has a paradigm for the connectors - client devices use Lightning, host devices use USBC. The ipad lineup blurs this a bit, though you'll notice the higher end Air & Pro models are USBC while the lower capability iPad and mini are Lightning.

As for single cables - gonna be a while before everyone's rid of their legacy micro-B (USB2), micro-B (USB3), mini-B, etc. devices. Particularly since lots of stuff still ships with a micro-B port.

Cars come with USBC ports? Not sure how that's relevant to the device port other than now you gotta replace your existing USBA cable.

Oh, by the way - You keep using that word "lightening"... I do not think it means what you think it means...
