The battery doesn't last half as long as the 12 Pro Max for one (remember you don't own the Fold 3), and for two, no I don't mind it being not quite twice as thick and not nearly as wide when folded to have a phone and mini tablet in one device. Oh, and how about that notch? 🤣
Well, it's great that there are choices. I'm getting a mini 13...I can't stand huge phones.

iPhones have been getting heavier and thicker every year since the iPhone 6 haven't they?

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

I switched to the Z Fold 3 too. I wanted to see if I would have buyers remorse. Nope. Will see what iPhone 14 brings.

As an aside, I really love this phone/tablet.

I don’t find the iPhone 12 Pro Max to be heavy at all. I keep it in a leather case, with the mini wallet attached when I go out. Never any problems with it. It does mostly stay in my pocket cause the Apple Watch handles nearly every use case. If you use an iPhone & don’t have an Apple Watch, you’ve no idea what your missing out on. On the other hand I recommended a pink iPhone mini 13 for my mom, she’s old and small, so it’s perfect for her.

It really is outstanding! I continue to be impressed by it daily. For folks who use a cell phone and a Mini or mini sized tablet often, it cannot be beat in my opinion.

Agreed! And I understand the Z Fold 3 is not for everyone. My buddy is holding onto his iPhone SE 2 like grim death, and there's nothing wrong with that. He doesn't like the larger sizes phones either.

Macrumors then: apple should increase the thickness and battery life.

Macrumors now: no thanks i’ll pass, my current iPhone is already thick and heavy.

Yep, hard pass. My 12 is already thick and heavy enough. Keeping my 12 and waiting for the 14. Unlike the new iPad mini 6 (which I ordered immediately) the 13 is the very definition of an incremental update. Should have been called the 12s.
I still remember the complaints about the iPhone being too thin and now we have complaints about the iPhone being too thick... Can't please everyone I guess.

The amount of people genuinely complaining about the difference of about .03 pounds is absurd

I guess it depends where you're coming from but everybody are entitled to their own opinion and preferences.

My 177g XS (which was the equivalent of that year's Pro) felt like a brick when I got it, it was replacing a 150g phone. While I've gotten used to it, it still feels pretty "solid" and I still feel like I don't want to get a heavier phone. I absolutely don't want 204g.

Fortunately the 13 non-pro is the same weight and now has nice screen so it's an obvious replacement for the XS. I got ProMotion on my iPad and while it's fine there I don't need it on my phone, nor do I need Pro cameras.

Unfortunately my XS still lasts all day on a charge and still feels swift, so however hard I try I can't find any excuse to replace it this year.

I think it's all apart of a bigger plan by Apple. This is setting up for next year when they announce the iPhone 14 and how it's "Significantly" thinner than last year.

Wasn't the 12 and 12 pro heavier than the 11 versions? I have an 11 Pro Max and that's heavy enough

The difference might be wafer thin, but at a certain point you reach a tipping point (and yeah I realize it's user dependent). For me my 12 PM is that. There have been many iterations over the years - depth, width, height, weight, etc. - that I wondered if I'd get used to and found after a couple of months I had adjusted. But I still notice the weight of the 12 PM every time I use it, after almost a year. I chose it because of screen size - couldn't go back to smaller after my XS Max - but it's still downright unpleasant at times. Maybe the titanium rumor will be a thing next year.

Will the 13 Pro Max fit in the 12 Pro Max case? Or is it now too big?

When comparing the size, it looks pretty similar but manufacturers and also Apple list their cases as not compatible between models

I don't need a phone to last 395 hours like so many seem to want. Not sure where these people live, in the jumble maybe? Who isn't around an electrical outlet or car charger in 2021? Give me as light and thin as you can make it.

Does it feature bigger batteries? They mentioned bigger batteries for iPhone 13. But nothing for the Pro models. The Pro models should feature Qualcomm X60 modem. This and the ProMotion display should count for wast improvements in power efficiency by itself. I don't really think the batteries in the Pro models will be that much bigger, if bigger at all. Then I would expect battery life to improve even more.

The iPhone 13 does not get ProMotion so they won't have this benefit and I'm not sure if they will be staying on the Qualcomm X55 modem or move to the X60 modem. If they are still on X55 then the non-Pro models would obviously have to feature bigger batteries to get their gains in battery life. The Pro models don't.

I suspect the increase in weight on the Pro models are tied to the larger camera array.
I think you have it backward my friend. Promotion is just a fancy name for 120hrtz screen. That feature eats up battery life worse than 5g. All models have the same modem. Only difference is the 120hrtz screen, one more GPU core, slightly brighter 1200 vs 1000 screen, and of coarse the camera. The 6.1 promodel should have worse battery life, not better, other than the pro max. Probably the worse battery life of any iphone 13.
