android phones are wowing customers? hmmm, I barely know anyone that owns one. Maybe it's true for those few that actually use android. We've hit peak smart phone. What more can be done? or should be done?
Peak smartphone? lol, there is a big list Android is already offering that Apple still has to touch. Ram, screens, cameras. Android is big in Europe and the rest of the world. I even saw a report that Samsung sold more phones than Apple in the USA. I don’t know in which cave you live if you barely know anyone that owns/uses an android. There are plenty!

That’s the thing thousands more android phones are out compared to iPhones.

guy must be American and that’s all he sees.

It takes a long press to activate the Action button.

I like the new button as the old mute switch was useless. I always turned it to mute and then never changed it until I got rid of the phone.
With me I use the mute switch a few times a day so for me it is very useful.

Interestingly now that there is 13 vs 16 the 13 was the last from the series (US) with a sim tray. Many American consumers are oblivious to it because in comparison to other markets few per capita even have passports and may not understand the late sim tray deficit. Ready to buy the 14 right after the introduction, I sourced a NOS 13 pro.

The above comparison in question lacks this key difference, the US market without a SIM card. This, despite a number of pro advocacy e-sim arguments actually has significant implications. So as the 16 goes, Apple should give the US market a choice instead of forcing the “sealed” nonsense, unless of course they will step back this time and stop insulting the (some) American consumers.

Even when he’s American. I can’t imagine he doesn’t know people using Android because the majority of people even in the USA use them. Besides that… Samsung sold more phones than Apple in the USA according to the latest reports. Not to forget the google pixel phones 🤔. Maybe he’s living in an applestore and never comes outside 😅

Actually, I’ve found myself using USB-C for file transfer much more frequently than I expected to. It turns out that it’s super useful for exchanging files between my PC and my Android devices with my phone. No need to juggle multiple Dropbox log-ins or anything like that, just use a USB A thumb drive or USB A SD card reader and a USB A to USB C adapter.
Excellent points, My 13 pro works fine, has all the speed needed to feel current and provides a great photo tool!

I've had every single gen of iPhone since 2007, but didn't upgrade the past 2 years and am still very happy with my 13 Pro. Intent had been to jump to the 16 Pro in a few months (being a 3 year upgrade), but heck, if not really noticeably better, I may just opt to get the battery replaced (since down to 82%) and keep going with the 13 Pro.

Still love my 13 Pro Max, it still works great! I grabbed a lot of video, RAW photos yesterday (which is still darn good quality in 2024 IMO).

USB-C would be a huge, nice upgrade when it comes to transferring these files to my iMac. The Lightning transfer is just painful at times, like yesterday.

Agreed all above, my 13PM still gets it done but w/ the drivel recently out on the 17 undecided on waiting for it or grab a sorta discounted 15PM then look again @ 18s etc hmmm ……….

If it can last another year, I'm keeping my 13 until the 17s come out. I suspect the 16s are a stop-gap while Apple figures out Apple Intelligence. I've been burned by Apple before getting the first of a new model (the first Aluminum iMac at the time; now, iOS devices with Apple Intell.) and I'll never do that again.

Is this right? The Max has a smaller camera sensor?

iPhone 16 Pro‌: 1/1.28-inch main camera sensor
iPhone 16 Pro‌ Max: 1/1.14-inch main camera sensor

Edit: Never mind... 🤦‍♂️ I see the math that I missed.

This is a very curious post. Why compare it to a 13? Is this choice the most recent version that shows a marked improvement with the new phone. Reads like MR are trying to help boost potential sales of the 16.
If you bother to read the article, right away they say because many people are in a 3-year upgrade cycle, so will be trading in iPhone 13 models for 16. With AT&T (my carrier), they pay $1,000 for your old Pro if you agree to a 3 year contract on an unlimited plan. I'm paying that cell phone fee anyway, so why not let AT&T give me $1,000 in the process?

Another “old” article with no apparent updated rumors…
Well, I still find no compelling reason to upgrade my 13PM though Apple might surprise me on Monday (I doubt it ;))

My 13 Pro Max is paid for and serves me well. I might wait for the 17 or even the 18, or until it stops getting updates. If I can swap out the battery maybe next year (it's at 87% of original) for $99, that's well worth it.

I am currently on an SE2 and am looking to upgrade. I am put off lightning cables and will only consider USB-C. I am tempted to get a 15 when the 16 launches.

I’m definitely making the jump from the 13 Pro this year. This is the longest I’ve had an iPhone and with minor updates every year, the three year cycle seems about right.
Agreed. I'm in the same boat. My battery capacity is down to 77% too.

As a former owner of iPhone 14 Pro Max who now owns an iPhone 13 Pro, unless you use the photography and videography capabilities of the iPhone to the fullest, and want USB Type C, you should still be fine with your current phone... After weighing the pros and cons, I decided to switch since I am not maxing out the hardware capabilities of iPhone 14 Pro Max, and I prefer shooting in ProRAW, but shooting in 48MP takes a considerable amount of time... Also, low light photo and video may be improved by Photonic Engine, but a wider aperture and shorter focusing distance to me is better...

Yes, I traded the longer battery life for easier handling... After looking at many things, just like some reviewers said, iPhone 13 Pro is still one of the best, if not the current best, and can still go head to head with the upcoming iPhones...

I still believe the switch to USB Type C should have been done in 2020, the year of iPhone 12... Transferring big files quicker is a nice to have and a must have for some, as well as record directly to an external SSD storage, but AirDrop to me is still sufficient and I find it fast enough as well as convenient... Maybe, many years later, once there are more and more features that I can't live without, that may be the time I'll go for the latest and greatest...

Anyone who owns an iPhone 12 series should upgrade for the primary reason that they have lower battery capacity than the previous and the series after it...
I'm not surprised u prefer the 13 Pro (great phone) over the 14 Pro/Max, it was a compromised upgrade and not very good at all, however the 15 Pro is a big upgrade over the 13 Pro, (which I had for 2 years and liked it) it's just better in every aspect, the 16's may be a small improvement on the 15 Pro, however no where near enough for me to consider upgrading!
