What will replace the iPhone XR and iPhone 11? I think they will release two all screen LCD models. Maybe call them SE 2021 and SE Max 2021.

Nah. The XR or 11 will likely stay. They will cancel all 12 models and replace those this year. The SE is supposedly getting an 8 Plus bodied model with the A14 and camera upgrades.

if touch ID under the display is a guarantee alongside face ID, I’d be willing to pay full price for that phone, everything else is just a bonus for me.

As much as I like Face ID, it’s not the most convenient for every scenario, I always appreciated Touch ID. But having the option of having both biometric security options, gives the user the best opportunity of for different occasions.

And still has a better operating system and user experience than the completion. 😊😎

Android has been behind since the first iPhone was released and they’re still nowhere near to being as good as iOS.

No point rushing something when it’s not ready, apple releases features when they’re ready to be released properly. 😁
Not exactly:

Better OS and UX: Depends on what is "better", but I get your point, iOS has good marketing and the keyboard works better than on Android, however on Android you have features like:

Do not lock phone if you are in your house or in your car.
Have access to your phone without having it near you, like viewing your phone screen directly on your computer and use it with touch.
Have a really nice and clean home screen.

But again, only if you need the features than is better for you.

Let's be honest, Apple releases features them when they can generate tons of money from customers. iPads already had "promotion", the tech is ready for Apple standards, they also had technology that was not ready and was released anyway.

And Always On Display is annoying.

Disagree, pro motion on the iPad isn’t as taxing on the battery due to the bigger battery, pro motion wasn’t ready for iPhones, speaking about generating tons of money from customers, as soon as apple hit the $999 price point for mobile phones, Samsung followed suit straight away, google is using mid range processors in their pixels and charge $999 for a pixel 5 here in Australia.

At least with apple you pay a premium for the best processor on the market, iPhones are guaranteed 5-6 years iOS updates. The same can’t be said about the completion.

With apple you get these new features when they’re 100% ready. Instead of rushing it to the market so you can screw your customers with tech that isn’t ready.

Know a few people that have turned off the under screen fingerprint reader on their Samsung phones because it’s trash and doesn’t work properly, that is what you call rushing tech to the market and a company that doesn’t care about it users, instead they use gimmicks to boost sales.

Greatness 👇

You remind me of religious people who don't allow you to criticize their God...
I’m assuming you don’t know how things work? If you’re going to criticize someone’s god, probably shouldn’t be their religion. Going to criticize someone’s tech, you probably shouldn’t buy it. Pretty simple. Rofl

What does religious people have to do with this post? Nothing. All the poster said was, paraphrasing here, if the competition is so much better then buy the competitions products.

Apple is going to use LTPO OLED display for 120Hz ProMotion and Always-On. Last year was the first time Samsung used LTPO OLED in the Note 20 Ultra and this year in the S21 Ultra. It could be that Samsung was unable to produce enough LTPO OLED displays to meet Apple's iPhone quantities. Technology might be ready but not usable due to limited quantities or ability to produce reliable quantities. ProMotion without LTPO would have reduced the battery life too much and this is why Apple did not incorporate in the iPhone 12. iPads with ProMotion have LTPO LCD displays.

When was the last time you swiped a credit card? Serious question here. I have not seen a credit card swiped in at least 5 years.
I was swiping my card at the gas pump until a few months agp. Gas pumps in the US were/are the last POS terminals to work with chips.

If the iPad Pro gets mini LED I would love for them to bring an always on display feature to that as well, or something like nightstand mode, my iPad charges on my nightstand and I would love for a built in way to use it as a clock, right now I'm using an app, and while that works fine, I just want it to be automatic.

And while we're at it, why has no company made a "MagSafe-like" wireless charging dock for the iPad Pro/Air? Basically just make a magic keyboard but without the keyboard and trackpad, just a stand, that charges through the smart connector. I still can't believe it doesn't exist yet. Magsafe for the iPhone came out and Belkin jumped on making that immediately, just make one for the iPad too damnit lol. Better yet, make a 4-in-1, one wireless charging stand that wirelessly charges the iPad, iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch!

120hz display - Meh. Just eat battery life so, na.

Always on display - I'll just turn off. Screen doesnt need to be on while in my pocket

Portrait mode videos - Dont care. wont use.

Under display fingerprint sensor - Only feature thats worth it.
Always on Display isn’t literally ALWAYS on :) It works with proximity sensor. So if your phone is in the pocket, or say you put it face down it’s actually off. Once you screen detects it could be looked at, it lights up (time, date, weather, notification icons - you can configure what’s always on). At least that’s how it works on all Androids starting with $100 ones.

Hopefully this “S” update doesn’t leave the current 12 too far behind like from 5 to 5S or 6 to 6S.

The astrophotography is the only rumored thing that got my attention currently.
Astrophotography has been available on Google Pixel for a couple of years now, including the budget $350 Pixel 4a and the 3a from 2019.

I’ve got a 3a and it works beautifully. The skies have to be clear ofc and a tripod is preferable (but not a must). Much better camera was main reason I got the Pixel over the iPhone SE. Ironically, oled display with always on was another one :)

Oh, and btw, Astrophoto was introduced with Pixel 4 and was freaking *backported* by Google to older Pixels 3 and 3a wih a software update. You know, just because they could. Imagine Apple doing that :)

They r not changing Magsafe, they will use stronger magnets i guess
They wouldn't change anything about design, otherwise consumers have to buy Magsafe accessories again?
Not really typical from Apple
Stronger - means change - means design wrong!
or would a too weak car be a “good“ design

Air, but not Pro:

Exactly, Google has been putting their Pixel camera game to the top by computational smartphone camera photography for years. I remember they did single lens portrait mode back when the others still doing dual camera only.
And the Google camera app enhancement has been back ported way back in Nexus era. There was time when it was widely available to download on Play Store as well for free enhanced portrait mode.

I doubt Apple would do this, since they are seemingly concern to performance degradation when bringing new feature to older hardware, especially the under powered ones such as iPhone 5 and 6 compared to their 5S and 6S older siblings back in their days.

All these debates about Android vs iPhone, I thought it was long gone years ago 😅

Can we respect others preference by decently saying what we prefer and stop telling others are wrong?
What happen to the “IMO” phrase before harshly pointing our opinions?

For me, Android vs iPhone is like American muscle cars vs Japanese Hybrid Imports (throwing a Tesla would be too far here). Ability to tune up the way you like to the edge vs efficiency with ease.

I like them both, and competition is always good for the consumers.

We don’t bash others for liking simplicity over freedom to tweak.
Nor preferring hardware specs for the money over brand perception.

Feel free to disagree. I will respect those who do likes having heavy debates.
Ever since I started my local tech YouTube channel, I learnt that it is a waste of time to debate on the Internet to a certain extends. Better just respect what people want to say. Everyone have egos to feed.
Choose what you prefer, point something what you feel need to say / correct without degrading others’.

IMO, CMIIW.

120hz display - 18 months behind the competition.

Always on display - 5 years behind the competition

Portrait mode videos - 2 years behind the competition

Under display finger print sensor - 3 years behind the competition
And? Doesn’t change anything and from their perspective, they are still doing pretty good. Good thing people are not forced to buy things they don’t want. Either you want this phone or another. Either way, nobody cares what someone picks.

I find comparisons between Android and iOS boring at this point.

Android has its advantages, and iOS has its advantages. Both have been looking to the other to introduce new features.

It is true that Android gets more new features than the iPhone, however, many times these new features are unpolished, and in the end, more than an addition it is a disadvantage, since the user experience is not perfect.

Apple brings out everything it takes out quite tested (sometimes less tested than it should, but it is not usual). And that makes everything you do with the phone you do well, even if it does not have 120hz or does not have some other feature.

It is true that the iPhone 12 does not equip the 120hz screen seems negative to me, since all high-end Android smartphones carry them, and it is something that should have been present in the Pro models. However, not having it does not make the user experience worse than with a Galaxy smartphone, for example.

In the end, it's a personal thing, I use iOS and macOS because I like their integration, it's simple to use, and for my day-to-day use of my devices it suits me better than having a Windows computer and an Android smartphone. But Windows and Android have their advantages, which the Apple ecosystem does not allow.
