I agree. iOS is better for junior or grandparents since it's very basic. Being able to place specific icons anywhere on the home screen, split screen multitasking, DeX, pen input, etc. would be too confusing.
What does an Android phone objectively better than an iPhone that makes a difference in 100s of millions of iPhone users lives? Placing icons anywhere isn’t a benefit nor is pen or DeX. Curious how many Android useRas or Samsung users utilize split screen, a pen, or DeX? Split screen multitasking is the only one I’ll give you.

The iPhone 12 should have had the reduced notch and the 120hz display. The rest, I find minor updates.

Sounds like a recipe for OLED burn-in...
Not to mention battery waste.

120 Hz display? Talk about dumb. WHY? Who cares what the refresh rate is on a phone display?

Sad to see Apple caving to clueless dweebs on gimmicks like this, but hey they did it with wireless charging. The problem is that with Apple, it stops being harmless when they start eliminating useful features and degrading their products for the sake of said gimmicks.

Pathetic. Instead of 120 Hz, how about an audio output on your MEDIA-CENTRIC PHONES, Apple. DUHHHH

And still has a better operating system and user experience than the completion. 😊😎

Android has been behind since the first iPhone was released and they’re still nowhere near to being as good as iOS.

No point rushing something when it’s not ready, apple releases features when they’re ready to be released properly. 😁
Keep dreaming buddy..

Nice to have the always on option. But I don’t think I will use it because I didn’t use it on android smartphone.

I can't un-see the notch when I'm looking at the display. The bezels disappear. I've tried, I just can't look past that screen flaw. Meanwhile I'm saving a lot of money. I used to upgrade my phone almost every year before the notch.
Long live the notch that makes Face ID the greatest biometric system on planet earth and the universe. ❤️👀📱🔓

If always on is a toggle in settings, why not, if you can’t turn it off - I’d say it’s a useless feature for a lot of people.

and for MagSafe - maybe if it significantly improves efficiency, but we will never get an efficiency number from Apple...

They better throw in a decent size battery now........
This is iOS, you have nothing to worry about, iOS 15 and the efficient most powerful chip on planet earth the A15 bionic beast. = best user experience and battery life in the business. 😎

Good point, you don't need 120hz on the smoothest and most stable operating system on the planet.

The iPhone has been as smooth as butter since the first iPhone. 😋🧈 120hz won't even be that noticeable on a iPhone when its already silky smooth, android on the other hand needs even more than 120hz.

Magsafe on the phone is probably not something I'm ever going to use since the charger seems way bulkier and less convenient than just plugging in a Lightning (hopefully USB-C) cable, so I'm curious just how much battery life we're losing due to the space those magnets take up.

think article was just worded wrong as ltpo will only be available on the pro models which is needed for apple to add 120hz
I don‘t think LTPO is necessary for 120Hz, as it isn’t for the current iPad Pros, and it wasn’t for the iPhone 12 Pro lineup, which was at the verge of receiving this feature, which was cancelled at the last moment.

LTPO is a lower power screen technology, needed for the always on technology or to lower consumption overall, not specifically for the high-refresh rate Pro-motion feature. The iPhone mini could use that lower consumption to offer better battery life.

I don’t shill for Apple. I’m rough on them if the screw up.

I’m also a Apple user because the ecosystem is amazing. All your statements are true. But I bet Apple will nail all those items you listed. They do things right the first time they do it, most of the time.

These yearly iPhone updates are really getting boring. Great, a screen that's always on 😔. I have no need for that. What I want is to finally breakaway to something new. How about we drop the need for a phone completely? Why can't my watch be my connection while out and about? And I'm not talking about just LTE. I want a watch I can buy with no need for a phone to use. I thought all this technology was going to make life simpler and easier but instead it gives companies a continued source of income. Maybe if Apple wasn't making so much money off each yearly iPhone release they would finally create the next big step?

If the main purpose of a phone was to make telephone calls everybody would buy a Nokia 3310.
Judging by what people are buying these days, “the next big step” better have a huge screen and a six lenses camera.

Sounds pretty good on paper. I know I'd like to see 120Hz and the always on display. We'll have to see how much actually makes it into 13 since a lot of rumored stuff never made it into the 12.

I was merely stating some facts. I didn’t say that these other phones were better than the iPhone. Like you I also an Apple user for the ecosystem. Even though Apple might be late to the game on some features. Features alone are not what makes me purchase a phone it’s the whole package.

Finally! I’ve been waiting since iPhone X for an always on display. I just hope they release a Mini with this feature.

You remind me of religious people who don't allow you to criticize their God...
The OP has a point, though: Having features just for checking a bullet point on a spec sheet does not make sense. Apple did not get a good reputation for user experience and resale value of their devices from being bleeding edge everywhere and everytime.

One advantage - amongst others - is that introduced features have a good chance to be supported for a longer period of time. If you want to be the first to bring a new feature, chances are that you still have problems impairing user experience and perhaps needing to break compatibility the next year, due to some necessary fixes.

Sure there is a risk of coming too late to a party, but so far Apple seems to make a good job in finding the balance between innovation and feature stability.

Seems that a lot of this information would be more useful when consumed from an Apple Watch (where you just need to raise your wrist to your face), rather than having to take out your phone each and every time.
Which makes it even more frustrating. This info is deemed valuable enough to warrant space on the tiny watch screen with the built-in weather complication, but not even an option on the iPhone with 10x the screen real estate. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Any particular reason you use a iPhone, then? I personally don’t find myself wanting any of these things. What exactly is so beneficial about 120hz displays? What will I be able to do with my iPhone I can’t do now.
