I'd like to be able to tell, at arm's length, without having to yank the phone off the charger, if it has fully charged or not. Eyeballing the icon from that distance it could be anywhere from upper-80's to 100%.

VPN status used to be there, I used to use a VPN in the 5s/6/6s era and it would say "VPN" in tiny letters. Did they remove that with the rabbit-ear displays?

if you tap the screen at arm's length while it is charging it shows you just below the time in big letters and numbers what % charge it has.

I switched from Android to iPhone last cycle (iPhone 12) assuming that it had the battery % (the last time I had an iPhone was like 2009). For the first few days, it was a little weird without it, because my Android always showed me the % so I was very used to it. But honestly, after about a week, I didn't even notice it. The phone lasts all day and I find myself checking the battery less often without the % there.

Does anybody now if there is:
1. external Monitor support ("extended display") like in Samsung Dex
2. pencil aka pen support what is standard in the S21 Ultra 5G
in the iPhone 13 Pro Max ?

There will be a desktop class CPU inside the new iPhones and they did not implement such basic thinks we see in android phones.
Basic things that no one cares about.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong (it’s been a long while since I’ve owned a “home button” iPhone) but hasn't the battery percentage display always been an option that was “off” by default? I sort of remember always jumping into the settings to turn it on in years past.

So for all we know as of now, the 13 might display percentage when it’s enabled and not require a swipe to control center. Just a few more days till we all find out for sure!

I can’t believe they didn’t include the Touch ID like in the iPad, otherwise I would have upgraded. Touch ID is essential in a masked society.

I used to always enable the percentage display. But since switching to the iPhone 12 and it no longer being an option, I have to say I don't miss it! All it really did was make me obsess over the exact number. Generally I can eyeball it and if the battery icon looks like it's getting down below half full I can start worrying.

Besides, a quick swipe down to Control Center gives you the percentage if you really need to see it.

😂 How lazy can one get. You swipe down to see the control center and there is the battery percentage. Takes like one second.

I don’t even care about seeing battery percentage until it goes into power save mode. Then I just swipe down and look in control center when ever I want. One second is all it takes …
You. Are. Amazing! Spot on with your post. The vast majority don’t give a s%&t. It’s certainly not stopping people from buying iPhones. MacRumors posters however find the smallest things to complain about, it seems to give them joy to find fault with Apple doing anything.

Good for you if you don't care, but I think many of us would rather not have to stretch our hands to the top of the screen just to look at a battery percentage, especially those of us with Max-size phones
Have you ever been to a gym? I’d hat to see you complain about a set. Lol 😂

This is one of those things that makes technology (or more accurately, progress) look stupid. When iPhone 4 does something that iPhone 13 can not--you know you have a problem.

There’s always been space. Stick it inside the battery icon itself like every other non-Apple phone I’ve used. It ain’t that complex a situation.

For everyone saying that there should be more icons and info because of the smaller notch in the new phone…. You do all realize that the software built for the iPhone 13 is the same software that runs on ALL the other phones so why would they put something in that can’t be seen on phones with larger notches?

oh well.. I guess there is only one thing to do then:

Loose the notch, then you'll have room.

There is plenty of space though, but this is what really gipes me with Apple in general, there is no technication reason if other models have it, but one has to be in Settings.. Why ?

Just confuses .. Think different my ***
