Lets just accept what Apple says because thats what we do here everything will be ok and dont forget the ads too
Based on your use case, sounds like going with the 14 Pro would be fine. I think most people who are excited about USB-C coming to iPhone are more from a cable management standpoint (and the faster data transfer speeds). What I'm seeing, compared to what I own currently (iPhone 12) is likely going to prompt me to get an iPhone 14 Pro. The *only* reason I hesitate is the supposed switch to USB C next year...but considering the rest of the family has devices that use the Lightning port, and the fact that I'm not any sort of amateur photographer, I don't see any real benefit to needing to wait for the USB-C ready iPhone.
With that said, if I'm mistaken on this, let me know; I'd also have no issue getting an iPhone 14 and waiting a year if there ARE benefits beyond what I've listed.
Indeed. That’s just it. Huge upgrade because you’re getting essentially a Pro Max level device for non-Pro pricing. This is huge for the non-Pro line. Biggest non-Pro upgrade in years.
Same specs at a lower price you call an "upgrade"? I call it just lower prices. Apple never has sales. They just do this.Yes, but people looking to complain will always find something to complain about.

S means "same design as previous year, but big CPU bump." So, not that?Starting to look like a “s” year.
They'll release the iCamera with a built-in phone.Apple should get into the camera business instead of superimposing the camera business onto their phones.
They will update the 14 chip with the 13 Pro chip, and even if it's from the last year, it's still a faster chip for the regular iPhone. The year is irrelevant. You are getting an upgrade.Yes but the chip was not from the previous year. The chip was still updated on all models.
Having said that I believe the average consumer (and I would argue 95% of all of us on here) do not need a new chip every year.
48mp camera and 8k video?I'd be curious if anyone with the iPhone 13 Pro Max is considering upgrading to the iPhone 14 Pro Max, and if so, why they are doing it.
That would be cool, I admit. However, I'd probably need to buy a new computer to edit 8k footage.48mp camera and 8k video?
No, because every previous "s" year's models received the latest processor that was the same as in the most expensive models.Starting to look like a “s” year.
Upgrading from the previous year’s model almost never makes sense.S release for NON Pros, the Pros...a NON S release?!?!
Upgrading from regular 13 to 14 doesn't make much sense to me (But older phones 11, X to 14, yes...go for it, upgrade)
But 13 Pros to 14 Pros will have some tempting larger benefits. Especially photography lovers like me ...if you want that - what appears - a big camera upgrade, better Super Wide night shots, LiDAR, better DoF, etc.
I don't know..the line up, roll out this year is a bit mind boggling.
Starting to look like a “s” year…
then this new phone is the 12 Super Sport. And the iPhone 13 was a 12s. They should just have new phones every 2 years.
I'm pretty sure they know what they are doing and are very profitable doing it.Apple should get into the camera business instead of superimposing the camera business onto their phones.
If auto manufacturers can find a reason to release new models every year, you better believe phones are going to be too.I don't see why phones have to be released every 12 months at this point. They're pretty mature now and the differences year to year are often small. A longer life cycle would be doable, similar to Macs and the iPad Pro.
Brand new 13 Pros will probably still be more expensive than regular 14, although it might be a good value for the rest of the Pro features. But with the way Apple controlled its inventories, finding specific model with the color and storage option you want might be challenging.
With the impending keynote of the 14, even in my country, I'm seeing the authorized resellers thinning out their inventory. And it's not like we will be getting the new phones ASAP, we will probably only get them in December or so. But I can already see Apple tightening the inventories so demand will be at the highest peak upon release date.
One persons incremental upgrade is another persons full feature update.Yes sir! I agree but going from S6>S7 was not a big upgrade. It was very incremental.
