The non-Pro Max models occupy a very odd place, to me. They seem to cater to the crowd of customers who would say, "I want the biggest iPhone there is! But I don't want to pay the biggest price -- give me a bargain!!"

I mean, clearly there are plenty of people with that mindset, because they're still making them... but Apple knows the past sales performance of each and every device they've ever made, even if they don't share every detail of those numbers openly. I would speculate that -- barring supply shortages of some sort -- these production numbers could possibly be a result of their past sales numbers.

I love my 13 Pro Max so much more than I expected. I doubt I’ll upgrade to the 14, but I see myself going with the regular non-pro max models in the future.

Yes I am!

I will name it, clean it, keep it safe and it shall be my precious.
100% agree. I think for people like me and you and other hardcore fans. Apple really needs to consider making a "Special Edition" model for us. I'll be willing to pay double the price, I don't care.

You've basically described the top selling point for Android devices globally, so it shouldn't be that odd.

Even the least expensive $129 Android devices have a 6.4-inch display. It's no surprise Apple wants to tap more into the phablet market.

What a heck of an idea! Let us customize it. Could you imaging a Product Red version with the polished stainless band around it?

Or a purple/lavender Pro with a powder coated white band.

Think you’re onto something.

I just personally feel like Steve Jobs would be using the smallest of all of Apples products line: iPhone Mini, MacBook Air, 24 inch iMac. He did use the 17 in PowerBook while recovering from surgery.

Will maybe upgrade to the standard 14 Pro from my 12 Pro. 5G really eats the battery on it which the 14 Pro should be better at and the camera upgrades will be nice.

I wonder why

I would think a 14 max thats a cheaper and lighter than pro Max device not offered for years would have solid demand

especially against the standard iPhone 14 which sounds like a rebranded iPhone 13 but...

I think the Max will sell the most. It’s big and cheap and that’s what people like.
Especially with the older generations. MacRumors probably doesn’t have a very accurate representation of the general population. Lots of people on here want the Pro because it’s faster/better, and/or want smaller phones because they have young eyes. Tons of people over 60 years old have degrading eyesight and aren’t as concerned with having the best tech available. I think the 14 Max will be a big hitter for that demographic.

Perfect. I plan to do the 14 Pro Max, so I'm glad there will be plenty available. I hope purple isn't too popular because I want mine on release day.

I'd wager most people outside this forum aren't buying the most expensive model, much like the stainless Watch or 16" MBP's. This place is not the place to be looking for any sort of data.
