It really looks like if you did the pre order before 5AM PST on the apple store you got a launch day phone. my buddy that did not got a late September phone despite getting his order in at 8:05 EST..
 
Hope you don't Sim Takeover enabled on T-Mobile... they are having issues and can't remove it. When I try to order my upgrade I get an "Account not active" error.

soooooo pissed, had upgrade plan ready to go, signed in, selected in store pickup and time and hit order.
Was changed to standard shipping in October.
Every year the order experience gets worse.
I wouldn't say it gets worse. I remember years ago (the 4?) the site was down for 45 minutes or so.
 
Had this error on all devices for half an hour. My wife got in but told she reached the limit but didn't even order! Awful experience

Tried to use Apple Pay and it would spin the "processing" wheel and give an exclamation point about "Payment not Processed"...did this about 5 times. Then tried to use Apple Pay with 2 of the other credit cards in my wallet. Got a different error - a box this time that said payment had been interrupted. So I backed out of Apple Pay Checkout and chose the plain "checkout" button. Then a box popped up asking for the security code for my apple card...put that in and all went through. Have my order number, but no email confirmation yet and it's been at least 10 minutes. But the App says payment info received and they are preparing my order.
Exact same thing for me but I got it to work same way you did and got an email.

This is my first time pre-ordering iphone, and it was a real mess!
I first tried to order with on website (Ideal in NL), which seemed not to go through in the final step!
Then, I tried with different payment method on the app, this one also seemed not go through (iphone stayed in "store" section). But after few minutes I received an email that 2nd attempt succeeded (with 16th as delivery date), then I got another email that 1st attempt succeed as well (but with no exact delivery date still!). Now, although I ordered with same account, I cannot see both orders on website. This is a real mess.

Is it easy to cancel order before shipping? Or to change payment method before shipping?
 
App screwed up my order! Every thing was set through IUP. Had changed it to pick up at local Apple Store like last year but a pop up window kept saying "order interrupted try again". Kept trying about 5 times, then cancelled the order to try again. Reopened the App and it said order placed with shipping date to my house. Also had an old address in the billing section which I had updated previously.
And it won't let me change my order. Very frustrating.
 
I ordered a 128 and 256. I'll decide which one to go with in a couple of days.
You might need to decide quickly if it's a delivery. From memory, the pre-orders tend to move to the "preparing for dispatch" stage really quickly and then stay there until a few days before dispatch. (To stop people with buyers remorse cancelling!). Once in preparing for dispatch, they can be difficult to cancel.
 
Anyone else not able to complete the pre-order if you entered all your info 2 days ago? I keep getting errors trying to access my pre-order info.
Last year I tried that for the 13 and it didn't work, I had to order from scratch.

Didn't participate in the phone scramble this year, just picked up AirPods Pro 2.

Got a launch day iPhone 14 Pro Max after 30 minutes in Australia, phew. Site is ****ed.
 
I was able to place order, save appointment date to a calendar and add it to wallet. But I did not get email confirmation and when I’m trying to see recent orders all I see is something like “error with the request, try again later”.
Woohoo! I got email (and text message) confirmation about my order, app still raises error. Pick up next Friday, 16.09 🎉

I have an confirmation email for order but it is not shipping on release.

I tried to check my order on the app and it isn't there. Past orders are showing wrong data.

I think I may multiple airpod orders; I can't tell. SMH what a mess.
 
My shipping dates got pushed out because I tried to do the two things that were supposed to speed my order up….

1) login with my apple account for speedier checkout. Instead, I checked out as a guest.

2) use Apple Pay to pay. Instead, i punched in my credit card.

256GB Pro Max Deep Purple coming Sep 28 to Oct 3rd (was Sep 24 to Sep 28)

256GB Pro Max Space Black coming Oct 3 to Oct 10 (ordered after the first because I was nervous about shortages on deep purple)
 
this was the worst pre-order experience of all. The cart kept crashing and timing out on both my phone and Mac. By the time my order went through delivery window was pushed all the way to Oct 3-10 for 128 black Pro Max.
same here. Useless. Crashed. Got to the shipping page and told me it can't complete. Tried to do a fresh order. Didn'tlet me. Eventually I did another finance thing and it went through but the shipping was way too late.

Also the pickup dates vanished too.

Worst ever pre-order.
 
Worst experience ever ordering. Took forever to get done. Maybe 25 minutes. Had many errors.

The pre pre order thing did not work for me at all. Had to reorder from scratch.

Selected pick up, then it changed to delivery.

Now my iPhone 14 pro max will come in October?

Just bad.

Preorder info was there but errored in checkout. Now preorder info is just gone completely. I have done this every year and this is the worst I have seen.
I agree, I've done this every year, and this one has definitely been the worst... plus the most glitched!

Apple might have "soft" reserved the phones that were done with pre-order, and then if they're not purchased by a certain time today they will start releasing them to fill other orders.
