My experience was a mess, but seemed(?) to ultimately work out. Got on the app around 8:09am EST, went through the ordering process, picked a pickup time, then boom, payment failed. Tried again, but no pickups available, had to edit my shipping address and it seemed to work (or not), but failed? Then I tried on my Mac, signing in failed initially but when refreshing, it worked. Entered all the information and then checked out. Have an order number, but no confirmation email and no pending charge(s) on my CC.

Whew. That was fun. Just hoping I won't see multiple pending charges or have unknown pending multiple orders. Damn, that sure woke me right up!
 
Looks like each time I placed order and it gave me an error it actually placed the order. Seven (7) on the way woohoo

Worst Apple online buying experience I have had so far.
Only wanted a pair of AirPod Pros. Managed to try and checkout numerous times - Apple Paid failed at various points (the last few attempts it asked me to confirm the delivery address which is the one I have used for years as my default address - it refused to let me confirm it).

I also tried using a different payment method on both the web and my phone and each time failed at various stages of the checkout process.

I guess their systems must be overloaded as usual on Launch day but you would think they would have scaled up enough by now...
 
Apple might have "soft" reserved the phones that were done with pre-order, and then if they're not purchased by a certain time today they will start releasing them to fill other orders.
If they did that, their allocation is off. I got booted from the Store Pickup several times and so I selected Delivery (about 2 min after the store opened for me at 7:05 a.m.). By that point, Delivery had slipped to Sept. 26th-28th.
 
What a horrible experience this year. From not launching on time, to being timed out several times. My website was just spinning and I was getting errors so I tried on my phone as well. After thinking it didn't go through, I still received a confirmation email. I think I placed an order cause I got an email confirmation with an order, but it's not in my order history on apple.com. The airpods i ordered though i haven't gotten a confirmation email on, but I see in my order history. 2 orders actually, lol.

Everytime I tried to complete the order the app rejected my primary phone number. no matter what combination of numbers I used it kept saying We're sorry. We're having trouble processing your request please try again later. Dates have slipped well into October now. The worst pre-order experience in 15 years of ordering from Apple :mad::mad:
 
I have no idea what you’re talking about. We’re on an Apple forum talking about our experiences with pre-orders. Some folks had a good experience, some folks didn’t.
Its about the delay and that you wont get on 9/16. If it wasn't/isn't why complain? Millions of people trying to access website at same time; errors/issues are going to happen. Look at any big online release...PS5...Xbox, same things happen.
 
There seems to be discrepancies between the iOS Apple Store app and the web based application.

I still have no idea what you’re talking about. This is a thread about pre-orders for the new iPhone. Everyone is talking about their experience, sharing what they ordered and their delivery dates. I shared my experience. I understand you may not like that folks had different experiences but your dislike at has no effect on what each of us experienced. If you don’t like these discussions, there’s no reason you have to read them.
 
I can in fact say worst ordering experience I ever had with Apple. In fact worse than for the iPhone X, where Europe or Germany's Store unlocked for pre-orders about 15min later than the US or so. But at least didn't have errors back then.
 
Setup pre-order was a fail. Upon one click checkout my Apple Card/Pay was not defaulted as I selected yesterday, another card that I no longer have was. Modified the card, hit order, error. Deleted the configuration, reconfigured with a bumped back shipping date, error. Opened up Safari and checked out that way. Availability to pickup the 16th, done. However, I must have typed my email address wrong, which doesn’t make any sense because I checked out with Apple Pay - but the order number cannot be found. Clicking the order number brings me to the app and states that order number isn’t associated with the Apple ID that’s logged in. No email confirmation of it either. While in the app, whadya know, one of the error orders processed and is showing in my order history - different order number than my Safari order. I now have two orders. What a cluster.
