Why do we need this article where it was already posted last week?!

Yes faster more efficient (13-35%) RAM is known.
Why does the chart say, Frame: Steel. Are we not getting the titanium chassis for iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max Line up?
No that was never rumores for the 14 Pro potentially the 15 pro so you can skip this release and finally envy me for getting the 14 Pro 😛🤣 lol. /s

Titanium May not be as easily recyclable as aluminum or steel when mixed with other metals as I’m sure this’ll be an alloy not our titanium.

Remember the good old days when apple actually optimized their software instead of throwing ram at it?
No. I mean, Apple still sells most Macs starting with 8GB of RAM. Even the (13") MacBook "Pro" only starts with 8GB.

At least the newer (14" and 16") MacBook Pros start out with 16GB.

At some point, the base iPhone will come with more RAM than a base Mac 🤣

So, pointless update. Got it. Just like iOS 16 will be. Why does apple even need the staff they have if they just produce stuff like this year in and year out?
There's ONLY so much stuff you can do to a smartphone. Eventually you start emphasizing incremental spec bumps and color choices.

Apple still does - best in the industry bar none at optimized os.

The ram is needed for more browser tabs, larger apps that are much more sophisticated and require more ram to give the performance a user needs without slow downs bugs etc. moreover ProRes video is a beast you cannot run that video mode with 2GB of RAM.

This has me specifically focused on the SIRI team especially the value and money sucking former Google AI who’s at the lead of Siri! In 4 yrs this is what we’ve got:

A more natural voice sounding Siri (like the previous voices were robotic? No.)

Siri to send a vocal audio to other speakers or Macs - whoopi this could’ve been done without granting him huge stock options! Very curious how often and how many users actually use this?

More than 1 alarm on HomePods (was this done before he joined though).

Oh yeah lead of this vapourware car project which will be a joke, a HUGe $ sucking business with even worse lability as a startup. Don’t believe me - look at all the flack Tesla is getting in the USA just for FSD Beta (it’s in BETA! And trying to stop it from being deployed period). Imagine what people will think of Siri running a car?!

Siri is “ok” but that’s the problem just OK.

Nothing really significant has been shown in years and other than 1 event during that time has Siri even been mentioned! As if Apple is ashamed. They should be letting her be so neglected when she lead the world originally. 🥲

Yeah, that's not even an option. Regardless, I'll be upgrading and getting the new iPhone. I'm just debating if I should order 1 or 2 iPhones for myself this year. Hopefully, you are upgrading too. That 48MP camera is going to be on another level.

Ahhh, Apple is not really making the iPhones so they can recycle them, hah! They're getting expensive. It's an expensive product to recycle.

Not many, but more RAM lets iOS keep more apps in memory rather than loading them from (and swapping or storing their state to) NAND each time. That, in turn, improves performance and extends battery life.
I just wish it would stop refreshing the webpage I have open in Safari. I listen to a daily show and the recording can only be found there. I attempted a few times to see if I could create a "Shortcut" to download each episode, but I don't think it can be done.

I cannot wait to see how Apple will announce that the regular 14 models will stay on the A15 chip. Maybe they just won’t say anything at all, and only announce the A16 chip and its features when they introduce the Pro models.
I'm guessing they won't talk about iPhone 14 non-Pro's A15, but may include it in a table or something.

Personally I don't give a chit. SoC speed hasn't been a significant concern for me for iPhones in the last 5 years.

Safari has been atrocious lately at managing browser tabs in general let alone keeping them in RAM. My iPhone 12 with 4GB of ram refreshes safari any time I go back to it when using just a few other random apps like music, stocks, mail. iPad Pro is a tad better but not by much. Like I said. They’re throwing RAM at a problem now. And that’s fine, it’s just the new Apple. Apple in the past was stuck at 2GB of RAM for years and iOS ran very smoothly while pundits were amazed how they can make RAM go so far.

As iOS gets more and more complex obviously more RAM is needed but so is proper testing and QA which is severely lacking at apple lately. All the engineers just want to work on the next cool thing (car, VR headset). 🤷🏻‍♂️

2 iPhones? Now I know you work for Apple lol. Yea I will be upgrading this year. Still love my mini but I fear I gotta get out of this size before I start seeing website rendering issues, delays on future repairs and the trade in value continues to fall like a rock.

For sure Apple has been recycling iPhones - that’s the point of AppleCare+ when you took in even a slightly damaged phone and you got a new one without packaging, your old one is wiped tested stripped down to basic working components and cleaned and repackaged as new. All damaged parts are recycled as source materials.

This is Apple’s reasoning for a closed loop materials source. Meaning they rely less on supply chain for source materials like Aluminum. We know they began with MBP Unibody in the milling process by picking up shavings melting down cooling and pressing for new sheets for the manufacturing process (Foxconn), we know the MBA and now Studio is completely recycled aluminum as well.

Gold in the circuit board is minimal but for say 1000/5000 iPhones that could be a Troy ounce which currently is close to all time highs, higher than 2011 days, it’s cheaper to recycle what you have and reuse it vs paying for the source especially if it was hundreds of dollars cheaper than when you bought it. Moreover less impact to environment - lots of toxic acid is part of refining gold after 3rd step of crushing. No need for huge caverns of land escalated, local population working for peanuts or even worse diving in insane deadly conditions in some countries.

True, but it's not just speed at stake but battery life. Faster and more modern SoCs tend to get more done with each Wh of battery power.

True, but they may adjust the battery size accordingly. While newer phones often have better battery life, it's not always the case because Apple sometimes will reduce battery size to compensate.

Furthermore, for the larger models, battery life hasn't been a concern for us. It's typically been the smaller phones that have suffered for battery life. For 2022, I am specifically looking at the 14 Max for my wife, so I suspect battery life won't be a significant issue for her. She'll be upgrading from an iPhone XR. I'm on a 12 Pro Max so I probably won't upgrade until 2024.

Refreshes are a fact of life with iOS, but my experience isn't anywhere near as bad as you describe. However, I have 6 GB RAM in my 12 Pro Max.

It will be great for my wife going from 3 GB in her XR to 6 GB in the 14 Max.

By the time I upgrade in 2024, the phones will likely be 8 GB.

What's the Difference Between 4X and 5, Again? Also, the Plus "TSMC" Chipset Listed in the Normal 14's look like A14X.
Wonder If the Normal 14's are going to be supported as long as the Pros.
