My point is for only $170USD there are a ton of additional features. The 14 Plus is not cheap, but excludes a lot of new technologies. Now if you don’t value them that’s fine, but there is a significant difference for only $170USD.
Personally ProMotion is a game changer and anything less looks like it’s dropping frames. I was at Best Buy today and looked at the iPad Mini. I thought it was defective because the screen refresh was so choppy.
That US$170 is strange. It's supposed to be $200, but for some reason they're charging an extra $30 fee. I think that is a US-specific thing because it's not like that in Canada. I don't think it's like that in Europe either.
Everyone does not live in the U.S. In Canada it's $300 more for the Pro Max, that's if you can even find one.
For the others who may not know, CA$300 is just under US$220.
But perhaps even more importantly, for those on 2 year payment plans through the carrier, it's a CA$300 larger downpayment, meaning instead of for example a $500 downpayment, it's an $800 downpayment. For someone on a budget, that's pretty significant. However, even ignoring this scenario, the Pro Max costs 24% more here than the Plus.
Anyhow, I think for most people it really comes down to the camera and Dynamic Island (and maybe AoD). It's up to them to decide if the CA$300 / US$200 / 300€ cost difference is worth it for those features. For many people, it will be worth it, but for many others, it won't.
The main problem this year is all the currencies are out-of-whack, historically speaking. The pound, the Euro, and the Yen have been decimated. Luckily for us Canadians though, the CA dollar hasn't dropped anywhere near as much.
