$200 Androids have 90hz and 120hz displays but Apple behaves as if it will go bankrupt if they include high refresh rate screens for non-Pro iPhones. Utterly shameful. By the way, there is NOTHING PRO about high refresh displays.

Apple's technology isnt just a 90 or 120hz display though. It adapts to content to go well below 60hz to preserve battery life, and this makes it feasible to deliver 120hz without killing the battery. On many Android handsets, you'll see reviewers advise turning off 120hz because it kills the battery. Apple's technology is smart enough to manage it for you without need to disable the super smooth scrolling.

Will be interesting to see how this phone does. In my mind, it should do poorly because (i) inflation/cost of living may dissuade people from getting a new phone (especially a $900 one) (ii) those who aren't dissuaded / flush would likely spring for the Pro Max (iii) the value proposition is poor given the similarities to the iPhone 13 Pro Max which should be about the same price on clearance

The reviews are right to highlight the fixed 60 Hz screen. I would love to see this improved next year - perhaps 1-120 Hz for the Pro models and 10-90 Hz for the regular models.

I might be in a minority here, but I honestly don't notice the 120Hz display on my 14 Pro Max. I forgot it was a feature until I was going through the specs with a friend 😂
I'm on the same boat. I just can't notice any difference, and this goes back to the Ipad PRO 10.5 which introduced Promotion. Just can't see any difference. I tested with my wife and she doesn't either.
Mind you I don't play games on my phone.

CNET <<And it's strange that only the Pro models get an adaptive refresh rate.>>

Really? This is absolutely how Apple, and in fact most technology companies, work.
It's a premium feature that will get dripped down in years to come. Inbetween time it's one of the things they hope will tempt you to buy the more expensive model.
Everywhere you look, this is how new features are showcased.

There is nothing pro or professional about "Pro." That's only a convenient label Apple uses to tier features and price.

Awake three hours early cleaning up child throw up, I’m just reading this article wondering “WHY does this iPhone exist? Why did Apple waste their R&D budget and resources on this?”

$900.

NINE.

You might as well get the Pro: you’ll be happier.

Form factor and battery life are the two most important reasons for a smart phone.

I’m returning the standard Pro and getting the Plus. The pro has been awful for me. Camera shake, dynamic island getting stuck, and battery not making it through a full day with dual e-sim (significantly worse than the 13 pro).

Given the plus is lighter than the standard pro and at least doubles the battery life I was getting (verge said it lasted them 3 days) it’ll be an amazing device for my needs.

Get ready for maxtechs 100 videos on this device. How many has he done for the 14 pros? Everyday is a new one. Yesterdays was ''2 weeks later of use on 14 pro.'' These youtubers have nothing to talk about anymore...repeat repeat repeat.

I don’t understand the “best battery life in an iPhone ever” claim. Yes, for the non-Pro phones, but not ever of any iPhone. Apple’s own website says the 14 Pro Max lasts longer. Third-party testing (Tom’s Guide) has the 14 Pro Max lasting a few hours longer too. ProMotion and the A16 should also theoretically save battery compared to the 14 Plus.

Youtube profitability relies on regular content so it's surprising that they make lots of videos.

Apple no longer sells the 13PM, but yeah thats a better choice.
If you don’t mind 35 extra grams of 13PM. It’s not my case.

I’d like to know the reaction of owners of 13PM/14PM that hold 14 plus for the first time. I believe is one of the biggest selling point. Max screen size, longest battery life, almost 200gr, 6gb ram…

It’s seem that numbers given by apple are far from reality. In real tests 14 plus has longer battery life than 14PM (of course with all its features on, like AOD)

IMO, the 14 Plus is going to be this coming year's #1 best selling iPhone.

And if not #1, then #2 after the iPhone 14.

That it not quite correct. Apple says the iPhone 14 Plus is the first - and only - iPhone ever to reach 100 hours of audio playback.

I very much agree with everything you said here. The weight alone is a huge difference. I am a mini user, but if I ever went to a large phone, I would want the lightest phone with the smallest camera bump. This seems to check the box.

Yes, and you’re talking about devices that are put together like Snap Tite Model Kits and the 90hz/120hz display is the best thing about the device.

Hold on, let me backtrack a lil. Some add a massive battery that really highlights the cheap build. Unfortunately, it still runs Android.

👊😁👍
