Sometimes I wonder if Apple isn't just stress testing their pricing…

"How much can we get away with?"

One day the proverbial last straw will break the camel's back. Mind you, knowing Apple's hardcore following, perhaps never.
🤷🏻‍♂️
Oh it’ll happen. I just don’t know when. Pigs get fed, hogs get killed.

I usually get at least a 256gb model if buying myself. But since I get it from my company they force us to get the lowest storage capacity (Even though we're allowed to get the Pro Max) it's a bummer they start at 128gb. Yeah it's an improvement from 64gb which is ridiculous, especially with some game apps taking well over 5gb. And that's not to even mention all the additional downloaded content after you download the app from the app store.

Never understand why anyone cares what the lowest storage option is. If it’s enough for you then great. If not get a higher storage option. Simple.

2tb for me please.

Being that the phone supposedly will record in 8K a memory bump to 256 would be appropriate but that doesn’t mean Apple will do it. But there’s a good reason too

Anything is possible with Apple. But I would not be surprised if Apple does not move away from 128GB.

Personally, I think Apple will have 128GB on the iPhone 14 lineup so people can actually spend their money on services Apple offers. (iCloud+plans). Regardless, It's a win/win situation for Apple.
Yeah, I agree. Based on rumors of the new cameras, and ProRes/ProRAW, I can't imagine another 128GB iPhone Pro. That's too small.

If they are raising prices because of supply and demand, why would they increase the base storage? Kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it?
I’m not defending apple, but maybe because the increase in storage doesn’t cost anywhere near the &100 they are talking about increasing?

Look, $1099 is NOT a big deal even with 128GB. If anyone is already on board with dropping $999 for a cellphone fully paid, it ain’t gonna matter when your only choice is “have new pro phone” or “not have new pro phone”. There’s no “get last year’s for $100 less”.

Also, when most people are going to finance it with a carrier, ain’t NOBODY care about the extra few bucks monthly. Heck, carriers basically hide the full retail price and only advertise the monthly cost.

Bring on the higher ASP, and get that stock up there!

Remember people. This is coming from the same person who despite the iPhone 13 models starting at 128GB he said the iPhone 14 was going to start at 64GB ( yes he said that)

my thoughts… if the 14 pro is going to support 8K video ( at possibly 60FPS) recording then it’s obvious 128GB is out of the picture. 🤔
Out of the picture on the 128GB model possibly, just like 128GB 13 Pro users didn't get to record ProRes in 4K.

We are witnessing an unprecedented backlash against “capitalism” and “corporate greed”…

Apple think they are immune from that, but let’s see… I reckon they’re not.
Lol I don't think that's true for Apple. Look at some of the other responses on this thread. People are literally cheering Apple on to raise prices and make more profits.

Lmao! 128 GB is so cheap now, that’ll be where they make their largest profit margin. So glad I went ahead and got the alpine green 13PM earlier this spring after all.

Y’all can have that pill ish. I’ll just use this one till it’s EOL.

You know it’s true. 🤣 don’t thumbs down me. Lol

nobody is going to NOT buy the iPhone Pro because it’s $1099. Just look at when the X came out and it started at $999: did that have any problems selling boatloads and showing up everywhere? No.

Of course articles and people are going to complain online, but it’s not going to affect sales one bit.

And Apple has ALWAYS skimped on storage: that is nothing new and is to be expected even with a price increase on the Pros.

The comment about stock is tongue in cheek, and always is the most helpful response to feel better about Apple’s ridiculously high pricing. I sure am not going to get a Pro new at $1099 because I don’t do carrier financing, and return policies always have a restock fee according to small print so I don’t want to deal with that. I prefer to buy straight from Apple for their 14 day no-questions return policy, and if I ever do get a Pro that isn’t used, I’ll probably go the refurbished route.

It’ll start at 128gb then magically turn into 256gb once the 15 comes along. They have to sell Tim’s storage subscriptions somehow & the Apple ad they recently released about the Apple One subscription is a huge hint. No hate towards Tim, he is smart, and we all know he’s behind this haha.

I find it funny how they always tout their camera improvements. But, with lossless music + 4K video + HDR, 128gb is laughable. It’s not a massive issue but the cost from 128gb > 256gb is insignificant, especially for a purported Pro device.

Agreed. Wonder if Apple are going to be sensitive to the cost of living crisis that's affecting many of their customers. Keep the price the same, keep the memory spec the same. Get the volumes moving. And folk will likely spend or keep spending spare cash on your services, Apple.

Apple is positioned as a premium brand, they don't care about the low-end customers.

Well my 128GB 13 Mini does me fine… though I had to subscribe to Apple's 2TB iCloud of which I use a massive 250GB. 🙄

I have no idea why they can't offer a plan in between the 200GB and the 2TB.
You literally have the reason in your post. Lol
