Removing the camera permission for third-party Apps might work? To be able to continue using the App...
At least till Apple fixes it, simply to save your camera lens from damage.

I will say I'm always shocked how such a basic flaw can be missed.

I mean, if you were talking about an Excel Formula that crashed a phone, then yeah, sure. Probably 100's or 1000's of such weird hard to find issues that may gradually surface.

But as you really expecting me to believe that having test phones out with trusted employees who will be running them through the most basic tasks with some of the worlds most popular apps, no one reported a fundamental issue like this?

They must have know about this bug and decided to go ahead with the release and fix it later.
I can't believe people and testers at apple are THIS useless that they don't know about things like this.

Wow. That camera is bugging out! 😂 But I would bet whatever is triggering the shaking can be fixed with a simple firmware update. So I wouldn’t worry if you’re planning to buy the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Having said that, I think I am going to hold off updating my iPhone 11 Pro Max until next year. The screen on my 11 cracked recently, and I was going to finally upgrade to the 14. But now I think I’ll just pay the $150 to repair the screen & wait for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Not because of “Jiggle Gate” or whatever silly thing Apple detractors are calling this camera issue… but mainly because money is kinda tight right now… not to mention that the iPhone 15 Pro will finally get usb-c! As well as that rumored telescoping camera. Yup. I can wait one more year. 😉

Work from home quality. This is probably the first iPhone to be developed mostly during Covid.

Now we know why Cook is adamant about workers returning to the office. "Working" from the beach is over. Tim Cook has all the data on the lack of productivity and employee disengagement. Macrumors forum posters that claim they know how to run Apple better are not smarter than Tim Cook.

I'm skipping the iPhone 14 and probably also the iPhone 15. I'll buy the iPhone 16 because it'll be the first iPhone designed and produced with workers in the office.

I assume you are a hardware and software engineer? You should be kissing the ground every work from "where-ever" person walks on for keeping the lights on during covid while some people just camped out collecting checks from the government.

It just infuriates me the level of ignorance that comments like yours about working remotely demonstrate.

I had this happen with the Chase UK app to. But hasn’t happened since and I can’t replicate it. The camera seems to be working as expected otherwise.

How would I know if it’s caused any damage? Surely if I took it to apple and it was all working perfectly they wouldn’t want to fix or change anything, understandably so. As it is, I couldn’t prove any damage or issue it seems.

This reaffirms my opinion that the 13 Mini has so far been my favorite iPhone yet; never once had a problem with it. In fact, as soon as my one year warranty expires on it, I may sell it and get another one. Carriers are now giving it out for free without even having to do a trade-in.

I don’t know is it has caused any damage yet, close focus is still shot. Just as bad as it was with my 12Pro. So much for these “PRO CAMERAS”
i took my 12 pro in and they said nothing was wrong with it. they told me it wasnt a macro lense and i needed to hold phone farther away and zoom in and then crop....

You can return the phone for 14 days after purchase, no questions asked. Then you don’t have to explain anything.

Something to consider ofcourse

Interesting tweet on this from Halide:

According to them, it’s a hardware issue with the OIS module. I personally don’t seem to have the problem (in Instagram, anyway).
Do we know how many suppliers there are of the camera module(s)?

If there are at least two, we could see a clear divide between the ones affected and the ones not.

Good point. Shame they wouldn’t have any stock for about a month or so. I don’t have a backup phone to use. Could become very annoying.

Why is it every year, when we know there will be bugs with new iPhones, people jump to the “iPhones are crap and Apple is going down hill?”

We know there will be both hardware and software bugs. How could there not be when you’re selling 10s of millions of devices per quarter.

You shouldn’t need to do a workout on a premium phone that you paid a premium price for. Just take it to Apple and they will either replace it or refund it.

I hate to see people buy a premium product and have to do a workaround just to get it to work properly. If this is happening to you, please take it to Apple to get it replaced. I love all you guys and I don’t want to see your phones get destroyed.

Here's an idea...stop giving apps like these permission to access your camera. It's hilariously ironic that iOS is so privacy focused but the customers clearly don't give a damn. They also don't have deep access to camera settings like the default app has too. So yeah, they should fix this problem. But also, these users should fix their approach.

There are bugs, and then there are bugs which could physically damage the device. This is more serious than your standard “feature x doesn’t work” bug.
