Remember the times when Tim Cook was advising us to cut down on coffee weekly to afford an iPhone X. How time flies.

I was so annoyed that they started the base storage at 64 GB on the X... so rude 😤

Queue the tantrums because everyone thinks Apple should be immune to inflation. Don't ask the difficult questions like what is the cause of this in the first place. It's just too. damn. hard.

Expect another $100-200 bump if/when Apple is forced to allow apps to circumvent the app store/Apple's IAP system. They are going to capture that lost 15/30% cut somehow.

On IUP, that’s barely a $8 jump per month. Not saying I like it, but you want to play you gotta pay.

Time to start doing Uber Eats……

We’ve more than doubled the prices of the original iPhones at $499 and $599. Of course these are “Pro” version but still, quite a bit of money if you’re like me who buys a new one [out of contract] every year, and gives the old one away.

In 10 to 15 years they’ll start at $2,000
Well yeah, if you are buying every year (and not selling the old one back) it is going to be a lot of money. Apple likes customers like you, but not everyone buys a new device (full priced) every year.

”cushion the blow”?

How long did it take them to increase the storage from 64gb to 128gb? Softening the blow of a price hike by offering more storage. I don’t think so. 😂 Maybe they’ll give us 50gb iCloud storage for free too.

I hope I’m so wrong.

The weird thing is that crude oil and shipping prices have been coming down, and supply chains easing and inventories piling up. It’s very recent, though, and I’m sure Apple has already finished recording the keynote and printed all the marketing, so too late to change the pricing now. 😆

The government should investigate this kind coalition of cell phone makers increasing the prices without end and just contributing to inflation. There is no limit to the excessive greed at Apple!. “Quadrillion dollar company on its knees, the rise and fall and rise and fall of a Titan” will be headlines in 10 years.

There's no way Apple is giving out anything for free. The only time Apple gave out free stuff was when iPhone 4 had its controversy with the "Antennagate".

You can't really compare the original iPhones against the much more capable Pro models. Also, the $499 (4GB) and $599 (8GB) launch prices in 2007 required a 2 year AT&T contract. The prices without that contract would've been $150 to $200 higher. Adjusting for inflation and removing the contract "discount", prices for those phones would've been equal to at least $925 (4GB) in today's dollars.

The 128GB iPhone 13 at $829 (which is rumored to also be the starting price of the iPhone 14) is a bargain by comparison given its larger display, more storage, more capabilities, etc. Even the 64GB iPhone SE is a notable step up from the original iPhones and at just $429, is less than half the inflation adjusted price.

Meanwhile they keep lowering the trade-in value.
This is true. But I’ve seen them accept some trade ins that were in pretty shabby shape before and offer the top trade in value. I’ve had it happen with my iPP 1st gen and an Apple Watch.

So them lowering trade in offers doesn’t upset me. Because if the device is still in good shape, and I don’t like their offer, I can make better money elsewhere. It’s just more of a headache.

Exactly! And I do remember getting my freebie 😂

For us in the UK the current Iphone 13 Pro is £950, so i presume the price will increase by maybe £50 to £1000. This is about right, if the US price is going to be $1,099. But knowing Apple and their odd UK pricing, they may increase the price to £1,099.

Yeah, I know they're adding the 48-megapixel main sensor, but that along with the AOD/pill cutout display will likely be pretty iterative. This isn't entirely unexpected at this point, but still, a $100 price jump is a tough... pill to swallow.
It won’t matter one bit. $1099 looks no different than $999 when you’re staring at a carrier finance monthly cost.

…and if you are in the habit of buying outright, you’re already spending $1000, so an extra $100 means nothing.
