No but people can come on here and complain about a product they’ve historically bought and seen increase in price. That’s a legitimate and valid personal opinion without getting hysterical like your exaggerated example. If those same people complain about the cost but buy it anyway, then it becomes an invalid argument.
Exactly, all they will care about is if consumers turn off the money spigot to Apple. Crying while pumping Add to Cart does ZERO but keep the prices rising

Gas is still nearly double what it was compared to when the previous president left office, here in the US.

Not that that has anything to do with Apples iPhone increases, I just don’t want us to quickly forget how much cheaper gas was two years ago.
But gas is at least dropping back to close to what it was before it started spiking, but nothing is following. Groceries are still 2-3x

I'd say this about ANY company, and I'm fairly certain most others here would as well. If a company can maximize their profits at a higher price point, why the hell would they not do that? To not do that would be incredibly stupid from a business standpoint. If a company prices themselves out of my personal budget or my sense of value for my money, then I don't come onto an internet forum and lambast them as "greedy SOBs" like some are basically doing here. I simply do my research and look for alternative solutions.

Obviously the answer to that will be different for different people and can change over time based on other expenses and changes in income. See above.
People for sure have the right to complain, but it's moot if they are back on here weeks later talking about their new iDevice

Gas is down to almost down to before it spiked

I wouldn't go quite that far. Gas prices had been fairly steadily climbing since the end of 2020 when the average price of regular in the U.S. was under $2.20/gallon. It eventually peaked in June this year at just over $5/gallon but remains on the high side today at $3.94/gallon. Today's average is still 50% higher than it was three years ago in August 2019 (pre-COVID). The good news is that prices have at least been going in the right direction in recent months.

It won’t matter one bit. $1099 looks no different than $999 when you’re staring at a carrier finance monthly cost.

…and if you are in the habit of buying outright, you’re already spending $1000, so an extra $100 means nothing.
Yeah, it's not the end of the world, just annoying. But what I'm most annoyed about is the total lack of acknowledgement of my dad pun.
YAWN!!!!! SNORE!!!!! Zzzzzzzzz!!!!

Yah late! You’ll never make it in this town with that kind of tardiness, Dan Ives of Wedbush securities.

But that rendering of the purple phone. 😍😍😍 Woweee!!!
Purple will likely result in an instant buy from me, especially with how long I've been pining for the Pro to be done up in it.

I remember filling my car in South Carolina when it was $1.59 a gallon back in 2020. It was absolutely amazing. I hope we’ll see that again in my lifetime. Certainly won’t be during this administration. :/

Sure why not. You go, Apple. Keep charging more every year. You know the people will pay 💰

I could afford to also, but I choose not to. & I’m proud of that, seeing as there are better things to blow $1200+ on every year, especially when the prior model (or 2 or 3) are still as good.

True but that was also an unusual situation with COVID closures. lockdowns, etc.

So that's where it was so low? I don't even thing I remember seeing under $3 in SE PA when it was lowest recently.

This comment is thoughtless and insane. Its perfectly OK to complain about the current price of groceries and STILL buy them. (for example)

I purposely exaggerated to make the point that not all complaints/opinions are valid or rational. I don't think it's legitimate to throw shade at Apple (calling them "greedy" or other things) because they want up on the price. I understand it's not pleasant to realize a product you wanted is beyond your budget, but that doesn't mean the company is doing anything wrong.

I think any company at Apples level is greedy for success as that’s the name of the game. However, if they are putting the cost up to a point their regular customers are feeling priced out, that’s Apple’s fault, not the customer. Ultimately the customer goes elsewhere or buys a much cheaper product and that only bites Apple in the end. Very few people are going to be happy at paying £100 more for a product unless they are rich. iPhones are mostly bought by people who aren’t rich though and I’d hope Apple have covered this in their analysis when deciding to price up.

I’ve always resisted the Pro models as I am not comfortable in principle paying that much for a phone that isn’t that much better than a £700 or £800 iPhone. Sure I could afford a Pro model but I simply don’t need to spend that sort of money. I voted with my wallet in 2017 until now and that’s probably whole news like this makes me chuckle.

If you can afford £1000 but not £1100, you shouldn't be buying an iPhone at all.

Apple products are in some way luxuries of life and should only be bought if you have a good personal economy.

That’s true. Many consumers also have personal thresholds and that £1000 might be it. Affordability doesn’t always come into it. Mine personal threshold is £800 for an iPhone but I might spend £3k on a watch. It all comes down to value and what someone is comfortable spending.

Ooh. Maybe it’s just a Philly thing. I thought it was in the $2.00’s up there a few years ago?

Yeah, I know they're adding the 48-megapixel main sensor, but that along with the AOD/pill cutout display will likely be pretty iterative. This isn't entirely unexpected at this point, but still, a $100 price jump is a tough... pill to swallow.

My apologies! I feel like a dolt. That is a solid dad joke pun.

Please don’t swallow your new purple 14pro when you get it.

(Dad joke back at yah 🤣)

Ok, but you're using "greedy" there in more of a positive poetic/non-ethical sense simply meaning that they really focus on and strive for being a success. Others are using it in a pejorative sense.

Remember the times when Tim Cook was advising us to cut down on coffee weekly to afford an iPhone X. How time flies.

Where's the part where Cook advised people to cut down on coffee to afford an iPhone? I see a price comparison, but not advice to cut back on coffee and buy an iPhone.

He said it. Check out the article below and watch the video.

This (rumored) price increase isn't completely unexpected given the current economic climate. But, I really think Apple is reaching the point where they are pricing people out.
Apple has always priced people out. It’s part of their allure.

I wasn’t able to afford my first max until college and I was working. (I still have that 11 year old mac and use it).

We’ve more than doubled the prices of the original iPhones at $499 and $599. Of course these are “Pro” version but still, quite a bit of money if you’re like me who buys a new one [out of contract] every year, and gives the old one away.

In 10 to 15 years they’ll start at $2,000

At this rate in 10 to 15 years $2,000 will sound like $200.
