It’s easy to assume that Apple will offer improvements in camera quality, regardless of whether they go with a higher pixel count lens or not. I’m guessing that additional ram would be added to Pro models because of said camera improvements, or perhaps a move into some other ram intensive programs.

What I am more interested in, is their producing a titanium alloy case and further improvements to battery life. The interest in titanium is driven mainly by my own personal interest in unique alloys. If they go this direction, I’ll upgrade both my iPhone (currently a 12PM) and my Watch (Nike series 5) to titanium versions, and keep them for 3+ years.

How's that innovating that would just be changing for the sake of changing into something way ********.
Have you tried a flip model touch screen yet? Don’t knock it till you try it. They fit into your pocket nicely- only downside is they run android.

They fit like **** way too bulky. maybe if you're wearing cargo pants or something it's an improvement, but for anyone wearing jeans or trousers it's a no go unless they get it much much thinner.

No surprise that iPhone 14 will be a substantial upgrade given this year's 13 was essentially an 'S' model.

Is the ultra wide lens/camera really that popular?

Not really, it performs noticeably worst in general photo/video quality and has issues in low-light conditions.

With that said, it was a life-saver yesterday, I needed to capture very wide-angle photos for a construction project and they came out better than using Panorama mode (which can distort thing a bit).

End the notch, switch to USB-C. Everything else is gravy.

True words.

And it’s proven shots binned down to 12 vs a sensor with native 12 are going to have worse low light performance anyway.
No, it absolutely hasn’t. Noise depends on collected light and is for practical purposes independent of resolution. Using binning offers some unique possibilities in terms of single shot hdr for instance, that a regular bayer colour filter array can’t do as easily, and of course higher resolution facilitates cropping and simulated continous zoom. Furthermore, increased resolution will lower lens contrast at pixel level, reducing issues with aliasing and moire, and the image pipeline issues that creates.

Nothing says you need to save 48MP files if 12MP files suit you better.

Just give me one lens with a 1" or APS-C sensor, even if it's only 8 or 12 megapixels. I don't need a telephoto lens or wide lens with low quality and poor low-light performance, and I don't like the look of a giant camera hump with 3+ lenses.
You think the hump is bad now, just imagine what it would be like to support a lens which could resolve 1” or APSC without requiring a ton of software distortion correction.

I'll believe it when I see it next year. Rumors are fun to read but Apple is also predictable.

I skipped upgrading this year but I was seriously thinking about the Mini. Some people want to do everything on their phone (like my wife) but being at home 90% of the time now, the reason of a big phone isn't as important to me. I still have the first gen iPad Pro 12.9 if I need to consume content and my M1 Mac Mini is a very good for everything else.

I hope Apple makes a big change next year though and not just in the cameras.

Apple hardware has been top-notch for years now. It is the software that is the limiting factor in need of serious improvement.

Next year is gonna be an expensive one for me I can tell.

New iPhone, new iPad, new Watch and the possibility of a new MacBook Pro… my wallet is already crying ?

8GB RAM…particularly on the pro models seems quite plausible. 48MP camera resolution - not so much!

Honestly that is a bit too large for a phone anyway unless they develop a way to compress the RAW file greatly for storage, but then expand it again for editing/printing, etc. Storage is too expensive on iPhones to make huge files a viable option.

Given the fact that the 13PM has 12MP, an increase of 400% seems both unbelievable and unlikely! I would be more than satisfied if I could capture 24MP RAW images on my phone…yet even that still seems like a dream at this point!

Don't care about the Megapixels. Just add a 1" sensor or something similar as the Sony Xperia Pro-I.
The 1” sensor in that phone is actually not quite legit. It does have a 1” sensor but the image circle does not actually cover it so it uses a crop from the center portion of the sensor. That crop is not much bigger than an iPhone’s sensor. Physics are physics and all that.

For years the vast majority couldn’t see their iPhone videos in 4K. Many still haven’t. Didn’t stop them from having to have it. Don’t look for logic. They’ll happily buy into 8k and 48mp and apple will have marketing ready on how incredible it is.
I expect that from Samsung.

For customer, scaling down means potentially more “details” on the screen and image looks sharper and clearer. For professionals, higher res means more headroom for post processing. 8K isn’t useless.
But if 8K video can't be played in more resolution than 4K, I can't imagine paying a premium.

If you're a professional photographer/video, I have to imagine you have better tools and this is more of an every once and awhile use case.

And for that >$1,000.00 is just too much.

I mean, at least you have the option to pick video resolution. If the “occasion” is truly once in a while, rent a camera or something would make much more sense.

Nope, not falling for these "rumors" again.
LOL.
Does it make phone calls?
Funny enough as more and more we advance, soon phone calls will be an extended non-basic feature.
I wonder if it is a true 48mp, or if its like a mode that brings that resolution? Similar to the pixel shift/binning mode in the Sony A7RIII or in the DJI Mavic Air 2.
interesting.

Curious what's the 5min file size of 8K video recording.
Gotta upgrade every year. You won’t have that feeling 😂
:( Lucky-You

Unfortunately many of us outside of the USA this is not an option to enjoy.
