Apple is releasing too many combinations of phone hardware. Thus includes different models by region and multiple storage options. Too many combinations to test adequately. Quality was much better when the product line was simple.
Just wondering how many combinations of hardware and Android there are?

At least, in time, we'll likely see the IOS/physical phone issues resolved across all supported iPhones.

Knock on Formica, but my 14 Pro has not had any issues with the camera so far. No issues at all really, maybe I just got lucky this go-round.

Oh good, maybe this will lead them to discover some software bug that’s been causing this on older devices too. This describes what I’ve been experiencing with my iPhone 8 for the last year or two.

At this point as heavy as the camera app is Apple may as well install another gigabyte, maybe two, of RAM dedicated solely to the camera app/system. Or move the entire camera system into its own SOC with on package RAM separate from the main hardware.

I just want to thank all of you early adopters of new Apple products, including software. My standing rule of February 1 keeps getting justified.

I just told my wife not to upgrade to iOS 16 so fast. Now her Car Play is having issues in her X5. Only that changed was her update to iOS 16. I am sure by February it will be worked out.
The camera, Messages, and CarPlay are the only 3 features I have zero tolerance for being broken. CarPlay being the most egregious since it can affect driving safety. That said, CarPlay (wireless and wired) in iOS 16 on my 12 Pro Max has had no issues so far. I definitely know how frustrating it is when being broken. Hopefully they get it fixed in 16.1.

Even on the 14 pro, with iOS 16.0.1, the latest Waze is worthless for me on Wireless CarPlay with the CarLinkIt adapter. It starts to lag immediately (car way ahead of where it shows on map) and it bogs down Carplay to the point of being unusable. If I use it Wired, it's fine. Every other map app works fine on Wireless CarPlay. Wish this would get fixed at some point.

I love the 14 pro but iOS 16 needs some work. It’s hard to close videos, have to hit the X multiple times. My system data is killing my phone storage. I am sure they will refine things, but needs some tweaks for sure.

Seems like having „s-years“ of iPhones and two year cycles of major os updates (Snow Leopard) is the way to go.

What a mess this release is..such a shame.

Wireless is literally instant on the 2021 Pacifica we’re currently renting on vacation. It’s on playing music and navigating before my seat is even in back position (memory seats are awesome). It also works well on my wired one on a Pioneer head unit at home. 🤷🏼‍♂️

[EDIT] Just noticed you said 14 Pro. I’m still on the 12 Pro Max. This is my upgrade year but we went on vacation right before launch and I have to sign for it so … I’m getting a 14PM once we’re back. Going for purple and a clear case this time. Have Pacific Blue and a tan leather case now.

I have a 14 pro max and I can hear a static sound coming from the camera lenses when in the stock camera app. There also seems to be a minor sound in 3rd party apps but not the janky wild stuff in the 3rd party apps yet.

Yeah Waze seems to only have issues with certain vendors. I see a lot of complaints from VW owners too with Waze and Wireless Carplay.

There are always issues: https://www.tomsguide.com/news/iphone-13-problems

I haven't had any issues with iOS 16 on my 12 Pro, but a lot of people complaining about how buggy it is too. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Dude, there’s no major bug there and specially not a hardware one that made your phone shake a thousand times a minute.

First one was the developers just not updating their apps.

Second one was a communication error between Apple Watch and the iPhone.

Third one was the only one that could be hardware and it doesn’t even say if there was a fix.

Fourth one was intended use.

How can you compare that to the iOS 16 and iPhone 14 Pro nightmare is beyond me.

It's a nightmare? We'll just agree to disagree.

I haven't seen any of these camera issues with my iPhone 14 Pro. Weird that it's a software bug only affecting some of the phones...

Lots of stuff is bad with iOS 16 and iPhone 14 - I think it’s mostly just software issues and since Apple has no regression testing and no way to submit feedback it’s not surprising the plague of basic failures out of the gate.

Camera App is very slow, and after a picture it’s 2 seconds of clocking to save the photo, the new dynamic island is cool but slows everything down, they prioritized dynamic island visuals over function and performance. Some are having issues with Wifi on modern routers that band-switch, there are issues with iCloud logins when on wifi (fix is to switch to cellular), the 16.1 beta’s are a disaster - you can’t login to iCloud, wifi broken still, performance issues everywhere, GPS is totally broken.

it’s amazing and a shame that apple simply doesn’t test. It just release stuff and relies on the dev team to sort out wha’t wrong… They probably have a very small pilot group of testers allowed to give feedback, it’s a shame they ignore all the talented and willing people who would like to test, give feedback and make a better product - but they don’t care.

not a single basic regression test @ apple. Running now 16.1 on 14 Pro Max
