If the storage is going to increase along with the price, it might make more sense from a marketing perspective to keep the storage the same and the price the same. That way it doesn't look like a price increase.
Apple may charge $100 to go from 128gb to 256gb but it probably only costs them $5-6 more. If they want to raise the price, just eliminating the base storage tier is a good way to do that.

This wouldn't technically be an increase then, but a discontinuation of the 128GB models. It would make some sense since 4K ProRes was unavailable on those phones.

What a rollercoaster, first they say that the iPhone 14 lineup (specially the Pro's), will have a 10-15% price bump. Shortly after seeding caos on MR, they post another rumor mentioning that the storage will up to 256GB.

Damn, my heart can't take it anymore. LoL

Given how they increased the price of the new MacBook Air for the same storage, this will never happen although I’d be happy to be wrong though.
Eh they did it when they went from 64-128 as the base on the pro models. Makes sense to include more storage as the base (because it cost apple pennies compared to what they charge) to bump up the storage.

256GB entry on an iPhone…
256GB entry on a Mac
Wow, where have we gone???

I mean, I have 512 in my 13PM, and I have 1TB in my iMac and will need 2 or 4 when I upgrade it in the next 12+ months, but…
I guess TikTok and that crap social media stuff just eats storage…

Essentially discontinuing the $999 128GB Pro model is a weird way to not exactly raise prices but still make everyone in the market for a 14 Pro spend at least $100 more.

Too bad for those who thought they'd get a $999 14 Pro. But then again, that's probably not a lot of people, not in this economy? :D

I can’t imagine the 128GB 13 Pro was a big seller anyway. It was well known that you couldn’t even shoot ProRes in 4K with that configuration and 128GB these days is just not enough, not with the cameras.

8K will require 256GB. Full 4K ProRes required 256GB last year too I believe. This would make the starting price more understandable too.

Not everyone needs a MacBook Pro. Not everyone needs an iPhone Pro. The baseline iPhone is great enough for 90% of people.

If true, then they're not raising the price of the 256gb model, they're just dropping the option of buying the 128gb model. For me, that's fine, I always get 256gb.

For folks that would buy the phone with 128gb, that's gotta be a huge disappointment. Pro users who have unlimited high-speed 5g data plans have less need for a ton of on-device storage, so the 128gb model for $100 less than 256gb would be a nice option.

So with the rumored price increases and "changes" to the iPhone 14, there really is absolutely no reason for anyone to buy the 14. It will be the exact same in term of specs, other than MAYBE a slightly bigger battery.

I would buy the 13 at a discount since it will be pretty much exactly the 14.
If the rumors of a larger sensor and better image detail are true, that alone is a great reason to get a 14 for lotsa folks, even those with a 13.

If it starts at $1099 at 256GB storage, then it’s not a price hike. That would actually be where it’s at now and appropriate starting storage for a Pro device with the cameras it is expected to have.
Ahahaha, just talked about this on the other thread)))

Make that a 35% price increase for Euro € due to Putin’s war and a 45% price increase for Pound £ thanks to Boris’ Brexit, alongside an overall reduced PPP due to high inflation.

At what price point will Apple 🍎 or their customers surrender or still give in?
