No one considers that they could have made 256 GB the $999 base model, considering how ridiculously cheap 256 GB of storage is today.

Nowadays Apple acts like they're doing the world a favor by improving their devices, where every improvement needs to be given a new name and a new price.

The Air has a lot of costs to amortize - the new chassis, new keyboard, etc. Much like before, I expect succeeding generations to drop in price - they won't want to sell the M1 Air forever, so they'll need a $999-$1099 product soon.

I don't get it so is it a price increase for all sizes or just the base model? People cheering 256 I'll pay more but if you are on the 512 model is it going up as well for the same size?
That $100 upgrade doesn't cost Apple $100. Upping the storage just makes a good excuse to go up in price because that's already the price for that amount of storage. So instead of some people paying $100 more, now everyone pays $100 more (at least). So if Apple pays $50 for that storage upgrade, they just make a free $50 on every iPhone 14 sold.
Well, if the storage tiers are being increased, then despite a modest increase in overall cost, you will be getting considerably more storage for the price point you were likely to buy at.

It gets even funnier because I have used 655kb of my 5gb iCloud space. 🤣
I only download apps that I need, I dont take pictures nor videos at all. I use incognito mode in Safari when I browse the internet etc.

Now lets hope nets refresh of their Macs, iPads get double the storage, because 256GB is sad on M2 devices.

3. Cases on release day?

5. Still an eSim and a card sim for the two phone lines?

b. Verizon still has and needs a glass navel to be used to observe their esim installations

Honestly, iPhone has always been expensive. It’s an exclusive and premium product.
Used to be $99 on a contract at one time. Same as consoles. Were $99 at one time. Now it's half a grand to a grand, and today's games are getting close to the price of the initial consoles
