I disagree with the 15 pro being a “significant” upgrade over the 14 pro. Its a nice refinement. You can always count on the new iphone being better than the last but If i was to upgrade from my 14 pro i doubt i would ever notice a difference.
In fairness, the actual quote was "fairly significant." But "I doubt I would ever notice a difference" is about as bold a statement as the assertion that the jump from the 14 to 15 is "significant."

I think it depends on use-case. My reason for upgrading is because of the new 120mm camera. That alone will make it quite obvious that I have a new phone. I agree with the bulk of your sentiment though, that outside of innovations like that, the rest are refinements.

Acttion Button - I guess it’s too much to hope it will be possible to customise the same way switch on iPhone 14pro max, right? I assume they will not allow that on purpose
"Hey Siri" anyone? Control center? Shortcuts?
The Action Button is yet another thing to touch/press when I have 15 other ways to do it.

iPhone 15 is 10% faster only?. The famous switch to 3nm just brings a 10% speed improvement?. And the same battery life?. Really?. That’s the “big upgrade”?. How about real life usage?, only 10% faster??
speed doesn't concern me.
Battery life absolutely does.

Where Apple held back BIGLY and I will waiting for before I upgrade my 12 Pro (non-max):
* Charging Speed bump (20W is sad)
* 10 gbps usb-c port, would have liked to have seen 20 or 40 gbps

I could careless about any of the other improvements since the iPhone 12

I think one of the beauties of Apple is that quite often there is a consistency in the model politics. The system is so smooth compared to other companies that we only notice it when it for some reason fails or is reset, e.g. when the iMac27"/iMacPro wasn't updated and we got the Studio instead, leaving the habitual route of incremental, steady upgrades that Apple has established. The sinus-like rhythm of cosmetic and technical upgrades and the slow but steady improvements on the product do never force you to buy a new device. The MacBook M2 does not make your M1 model feel obsolete, the 15Pro won't make your 14Pro feel like yesterday's news and you won't feel ****** about your AW8 when model 9 hits the stores. If you have the money, you can enjoy the iterative upgrades every year, but if not the product is steady and solid for another couple of years. It is only looking back (and sometimes with a feeling of «Ohhhh, they were so small and light back than») that you realize how this slow evolutionary process completely changes the device over a few years and how outdated a five-year-old iPad can feel compared to the new one, even if it still works okay. I prefer this really much to the nervous way other companies breathlessly redesign or even kill specific devices you liked (PenF, e.g.). In looking back I think you can see some kind of game plan also (as well as reactions to market situations or technical problems) an at least wish that Apple has some kind vague notion where they want to take their products and how the ecosystem(s) will fit together. In recent years I was wondering about some developments regarding wearables and also iOS – and most of these make more sense when viewed in light of VisionPro (Spatial Audio, Widgets, Accessibility features like recognition of hand/finger movements on the AW and much more). And it's fun to travel along that journey. I do not think that Apple is about feature jumps per device anymore but rather about an organically growing net of functionalities and services and parts of a puzzle fitting better and better together. (And of course we pay at every stop ;-))

I made a comparison with my own iPhone 13 Pro with the new 15 pro on apple’s website. Comparing specifications and came to the conclusion that nothing significant has changed. Oh well, it’s better for the environment anyway that I’m sticking with my iPhone 13 Pro. I’m still happy with it overall :)

Its
“Overall, the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ is a fairly significant upgrade over the ‌iPhone 14 Pro”

What a load of massive 💩 that is.
You’re absolutely right about the marketing 💩 Apple is pouring out. But at least it’s better for your wallet and the environment nothing significant has changed.

I don’t think it was indicated … but the Pro models can do spatial video now? Is that both the pro and Max? If you thinking of getting the pro (and who isn’t?) that is a big upgrade.

The iPhone 15 Pro succeeds 2022's iPhone 14 Pro, bringing over 35 new features and improvements to Apple's high-end smartphones. This buyer's guide breaks down every major difference you should be aware of between the two generations.

iPhone-14-Pro-vs-15-Pro-Buyers-Guide.jpg

In 2022, Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 Pro as the successor to the popular iPhone 13 Pro, introducing an always-on display, the Dynamic Island, a 48-megapixel camera, the A16 Bionic chip, longer battery life, and more. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have now been discontinued by Apple, and as slightly older models, lower prices can be found for the device at third-party resellers. As such, some customers who own an older device may be weighing up whether to upgrade to an iPhone 14 Pro or an iPhone 15 Pro.

As the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro share a large number of features, should you consider buying or sticking with the iPhone 14 Pro to save money? Our guide helps to answer the question of how to decide which of these two iPhone models is best for you, and serves as a way to clearly see the all of the differences that the iPhone 15 Pro brings to the table.

Although the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro share most of their basic features, the iPhone 15 Pro offers a large number of notable upgrades over its predecessor, such as a titanium design, Action button, USB-C port, and A17 Bionic chip.

I have the 12 Pro Max. I think the upgrade will be a descent upgrade to the 15 Pro Max. I'm still thinking of having my battery replaced on my 12 pro max, and waiting for the 16. Thoughts?

Yes, they mentioned it yesterday and everyone waiting on the Apple Vision product wet their pants.

Check on the price for resale/trade-in values of a 12 Pro Max vs an 11 Pro Max.. as next year thats what your 12 PM will be worth.

I'm not familiar with the digital zoom specs. Is that what the maximum digital zoom is between the 15 Pro and the 15 Pro Max?

Then again, digital zoom numbers are mostly a gimmick. It might help you better line up the shot by blowing the image up on the screen, but you're not getting improved quality.
Yes, that’s the max zoom for each.

Digital zoom is definitely not great overall. However, the ability to see that zoomed into something is somewhat useful. For instance when the ( I believe) 12 pro got 10x zoom I would use it to look at bugs and bees really close and it was really cool. Then on the 14 pro the zoom was upgraded to 15x and that allowed me to get pictures of Water meters I wouldn’t have been able to get before at my job.

So, I look forward to the 16 Pro getting 25x so that i can see insane parts of an ant

I am usually on a 2yr upgrade cycle, but I remain on the fence over upgrading from a 13 Pro.
This year the 15 pro kind of feels left out to me. No price raise, but also almost no new hardware camera features. No brightness increase, etc.

Same here, though I want to upgrade. The 13 Pro is the best iPhone I've owned. Plus, this will keep some money in the bank if we decide to pull the trigger on an M3 Mac next year.

(My wife is upgrading to a 15 Pro from a 12 Pro. I think it will be a noticeable upgrade for her: screen, battery life, cameras. Those are the things she cares about, at least.)

I'm still on iPhone 8 Plus ;), but it looks like it may finally be time for an upgrade to iPhone 15 Pro, especially since the 8 is not getting iOS 17. I always preferred a matte finish, so it's great to see they switched from the shiny stainless steel to titanium on the Pro models.
It was a great phone, got it in 2017 and battery health is at 80%.
Thought I was an anachronism with my XR. Thinking it's time for 5g and my battery health is not what it was. Improved photo functions are attractive as well. Not sure what I'll go for but I'm looking to upgrade.

Every new model makes incremental improvements.

Whether you upgrade or not doesn't matter much without context of how broke you are.
It’s easily affordable for me but I’m still on my 12 Pro and was eager to upgrade though am a bit underwhelmed by the 15 Pro

I read through the list to see if I’d have buyer’s remorse over my 14 PM, and I have concluded that I made the right choice. While some of the features and upgrades are nice to have, none of them I really need. Also, I don’t like the colors enough either (yeah, I know, get a case…). My GF has a broken iPhone 12 and even she is reluctant to upgrade. I think she might cave when she sees the pink one, though.

I have a 14PM and I’ll be pre ordering the 15 on Friday.

The camera upgrade is enough to entice me. The weight reduction, and other features are icing. I usually upgrade every year. My wife and I are DINC’s and I work tons of OT, so I have the disposable income and this is one of the ways I “treat” myself.

We’re taking a big vacation in November and I want to be able to take the best pictures I can with my phone. So I’ll spring for it.

I admit it’s not for everyone, and that’s fine. But I’ll be pre ordering 8 AM Friday.

You will be upgrading to a regular 15 or 15 Pro max? If regular 14 Pro vs 15 Pro, the camera spec is exactly the same https://www.apple.com/my/iphone/compare/?modelList=iphone-15-pro,iphone-14-pro,iphone-15
So is the display spec
