Then why did they intentionally name check Qi2 during that segment?
I'd say there's a good chance an update will enable the faster Qi2 charging later. Apple did that with the MagSafe Battery Pack, unlocking 7.5W charging after it was released.

You realize that fast-charging batteries reduces their lifetime, right? It's harder on the battery cells. So when they do deliver it and batteries don't last as long, will you complain about that, too?
You’re not up to date with the latest technological advancements it seems. New battery tech doesn’t degenerate much anymore with fast charging.

But with Apple you’re probably right… chances are minimal they are using up to date technology.

One of the most disappointing iPhone announcements in years. Apple did the bare minimum this year.

Predictable response. Bare minimum would have been no keynote, no announcements, no new products. Instead everything was pushed forward and is even better than last year. Why do people want huge leaps and bounds every year? It's unrealistic.

Got a link? I'd love to read more about that.

There is no reason for me to upgrade my 14 Pro Max other than the classier looking raw titanium color (which will end up in a case) and higher trade values. I'm gonna try my hardest to stick to 3 year upgrade cycles for the most wowee factor.

iPhone 15 Pro/Max is such a mid upgrade. I just compared the 14 Pro Tech Page (made a screenshot) vs new specs. Exactly the same camera minus the periscope. Same display.. no mention for bigger batteries. The bezel is hairline thinner. No mention for more RAM. Up to 10% more CPU perf. over A16 and 20% GPU. The "cool" thing is the RayTracing (which was scrapped from A16), but still I can't care less for it. I don't even use it much on my desktop PC with RTX 4090.

I expected the biggest disappointment to be Watch S9, but surprise surprise it's pretty solid! I'm even thinking to upgrade from S8.

You’re right this whole incremental update wasn’t keynote worthy and a few lines on their website with lower prices would be more justified.

This update is meant for those who still holding on to their iPhone 12 and earlier models.
It surely doesn’t attract switchers from the dark side. It even pushes me more and more to the dark side to be honest.

so bad, I know its because iPhones still over heat and dim so they cant change faster, but its not fair now with usb c and the pros having a faster port we still cant charge faster or get better batt life, im getting sick of apple now days
You have choices. Make one.

Overall, I agree. The real value in the switch to titanium is the weight reduction, not the appearance. I tried to switch from a 13 mini to a 13 Pro, but the size and weight were just too much. Ended up switching back after a couple weeks of trying to become comfortable/tolerant of it.

With a new mini effectively out of the picture now, I’d say that reducing the body size and weight of the 15 Pro is going to make it a much more tolerable choice for upgraders compared to the 14 Pro.

How is anyone surprised at this point by a release not appealing to the every-year-upgrader? Even though, ironically, USB-C has been pretty much THE most requested feature ever and it actually came and no one seems all that thrilled about it.

Because usb-c is a no brainer and long overdue. This keynote has proven that iPhone innovation is dead.

I’m still using my 12PM and I’m still not wowed. If my speakers and charging port weren’t wearing out I wouldn’t even considering upgrading to this.

For a 3 trillion dollar tech company, it's surprising that they manage to always be behind everyone else. At least the new CPU is 10% faster though
Hold that thought… won’t be that long I’m afraid. Qualcomm is coming …

I just had my 12PM display replaced (for free) and my battery life is still 82%, I didn't see anything in the keynote to bust out my wallet for 2x15PM - let's keep those iPhone 16 rumors flowing! ;)

they can't fire all their bullets, right? gotta save some in the chamber for next year's phone..
Well, you never know, you might be spot on. It could well be they have some good ideas in the pipeline, just not very many of them, so they are spacing them out so they can keep selling phones. Let's hope that's not the case.
