Re-watching the Mother Nature video? That’s 1:00pm here in the UK and guess what I will be doing during my lunch break.
lol I similarly panicked this morning when I saw the headlines about the Apple Watch Ultra 2 shipping times slipping I thought everything was available for preorder at once.I read the “iPhone 15 Pro Available to Order” headline and got sent into a panic for half a second thinking I missed my pre-order window!
Why is it called “pre-order” when you’ve actually placed an order?
I thought the film with Mother Nature was clever, funny and informative. Why shouldn't a company tout its progress/accomplishments, especially in an entertaining, non-board meeting style?Apple's such a meme at this point.
Wasting 10+ mins of their premiere product Keynote on some cringey self-congratulatory environmental crap; hyping up USB-C by listing the other Apple products that have had it for years; minimal processor speed improvements, all the result of TSMC's 3nm node wizardry; and multiple misleading comparisons, the worst of which was tricking everyone into thinking the Pros feature a new bigger main camera sensor (even MKBHD misreported this).
Anyway, gonna be up at 5AM tomorrow to order that Blue 15 Pro.
Then go with the Pro. I’m going with the Pro size myself as the max is too big for me.torn between the Pro or Pro Max. I have a 13PM, and really over the weight and size of it.
They've confirmed about the Watch APs but no idea for another phoneAnyone out there know if the fact that the new iPhone has USB-C, will it have the ability to act as a power bank to give a little bit of charge to someone's watch, airpods, or another dead iPhone?
Because you truly have not placed it before your card is actually charged? They are actually reserving a spot on their order list and can still cancel that spot any time. Why is it called “pre-order” when you’ve actually placed an order?
Was on the Plus/Max phones for several years but last year finally went for the regular Pro. Couldn't be happier. I can actually mostly use the Dynamic Island one-handed with my Trumpian hands. Gonna be a big bonus that it gets 10% lighter this year, too.torn between the Pro or Pro Max. I have a 13PM, and really over the weight and size of it.
It's not just a pre-order, it's pre-pre-order! That's one better, you know.Why is it called “pre-order” when you’ve actually placed an order?
That’s true. I tried the smaller 13 Pro because I wanted to like it. However, I quickly missed the bigger battery. I loved everything else, including being more pocketable and ease of one-handed use.Was on the Plus/Max phones for several years but last year finally went for the regular Pro. Couldn't be happier. Interestingly, Apple deceptively states that the new iP15ProMax has “Up to 10x Optical Zoom Range” which leads readers to believe that it has a 10x optical zoom. In reality it has a range from 0.5x to 5.0x which is technically a 10x range, but very dubious advertising IMO.
Apple will begin accepting pre-orders for the new iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max this Friday, September 15 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time. As usual, the Pro models have a long list of new features, including a USB-C port, lightweight titanium frame, customizable Action button, and much more.

Below, we have highlighted 12 new features on the iPhone 15 Pro models:
For more details about the devices, read our iPhone 15 Pro roundup.
- Lightning has been replaced with a USB-C port for a more universal charging standard and faster data transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps.
- All four iPhone 15 models support DisplayPort for up to 4K HDR video mirroring and video output to an external display or TV with a supported USB-C to DisplayPort cable, according to Apple's tech specs for the devices.
- A new titanium frame results in the iPhone 15 Pro models weighing up to 10% less than the iPhone 14 Pro models with a stainless steel frame.
- A customizable Action button replaces the traditional mute switch on previous iPhones. By default, the button is set to toggle between Ring and Silent modes, but it can also be assigned to a different action for quick access to the camera, flashlight, Voice Memos, Shortcuts, Focus modes, and more.
- The new A17 Pro chip enables up to 10% faster CPU performance and up to 20% faster GPU performance compared to the A16 Bionic chip.
- The devices are equipped with 8GB of RAM, up from 6GB in the iPhone 14 Pro models. Along with the new A17 Pro chip, extra RAM benefits overall system performance, particularly for multitasking.
- There are thinner bezels around the screen compared to the iPhone 14 Pro models.
- Like the latest Macs and iPad Pro, the iPhone 15 Pro models support Wi-Fi 6E (6GHz) for faster wireless speeds and less signal interference. Remember, you'll need a Wi-Fi 6E router in order to take advantage of this functionality.
- The iPhone 15 Pro Max exclusively features up to 5x optical zoom.
- The devices are equipped with a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip. Apple says two iPhones with this chip can connect from 3x farther away.
- The devices feature a more repairable internal design, with a redesigned frame that allows for the back glass panel to be easily removed from the devices. This change was first made to the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus last year.
- New colors: Natural Titanium, Blue Titanium, White Titanium, and Black Titanium.

because there was no mention of factory’s specifically and they left out the use of Chinese child labor. maybe touch on how destructive lithium mining is or set a standard of not mass producing a brand new phone every year.I thought the film with Mother Nature was clever, funny and informative. I don’t think you actually reserved a spot. You just selected the phone model, storage, color, carrier, and form of purchase in advance that way when the preorder goes live there are less steps to place the actual order. The mute switch spurned such a hot debate before.
I’m personally glad it’s going away because I can never activate it with a case on my phone unless I use a pick or something.

I'm not referring to anything before 5am PST when orders go live. That's what the actual pre-order is.I don’t think you actually reserved a spot. It's more about Apple promoting its annual update cycle, even if there's nothing Earth-shattering. Can you imagine the negative publicity if Apple said they weren't going to bother this year? The amount and pace of innovation from Apple is just staggering. I mean, USB-C, 8GB of RAM, modern Wi-Fi, *and* a customizable action button in the same update?
They must have had their top teams working 24/7 for years to figure out how to pull this off!
OOC: I have all Apple products, so obviously I see value in them, but the reality distortion field of Apple marketing that somehow, about 5 years too late we're getting USB-C, an action button, and other very basic stuff is somehow "keynote worthy" and whipping up everyone into a buying frenzy is actually the only innovative thing here. Fine, take my money, not because Apple is actually innovative, but the Android ecosystem is just (still) pathetic. I love Apple, but I also want them to have a credible competitor so we don't have to wait for things like the EU to step up and mandate the change that is actually exciting and nice before Apple will deliver it to consumers. A technology monopoly wasn't great when MS/Intel made one and this AAPL/Arm/TSMC tie up isn't doing consumers any favors, either, now/anymore.
I usually upgrade every 2-3 cycles and normally pre-order as soon as I can.
However, this year I am waiting on reviews because I'm still enjoying my iPhone 13 Pro where the pictures are good enough for me to have finally dispensed with my RX100 P&S camera. What I want to know is, is there enough of a step up in photo quality for casual photography? For me this isn't about pixel peeping, but rather, are there pictures that I would miss with the 13 Pro that I would get with the 15 Pro?
The selling point will most likely be the 5x optical zoom which will definitely get me shots I can't get on the 13 Pro. I'm also intrigued about the step up to 24MP photo files vs 12MP photo files. The extra data should deliver enhanced pictures. We will see. If it's not dramatically better, I'll sit this year out as well.
