I really don’t care about iPhone colors until they make them 100% unbreakable from normal human drop height. And even then I’m unsure because without a case with at least some sort of grippy edge, phones tend to slide out of my pockets easily.

I’ve never used a clear case that didn’t look and feel terrible and I’ve tried a lot, except Apple’s, which while I’ll assume is better than the others in most regards, has a really ugly white MagSafe mount that is visible.
The MagSafe area really bothered me too. But 5 minutes after I had the case I forgot about it. I really like their clear cases. I agree that I’d rather have something durable enough that a case isn’t needed.

The heck with the color. Spend your money and time revamping iOS so that it’s functional and not nearly as limiting.

While I am not a fan of CrippleOS16, and its 2013 functionality, I'm not sure limiting colours down to Black, White and Gold(??) would improve the situation noticeably. It's not as if the technicians that configure the phone body fabrication process make the software at all.

I’ve liked the special color since the iPhone 12. This red is a no go for me though.

I have a solid history of black when it comes to the the iPhones up to the 11PM when I finally fell for its gorgeous green tint, a feat nearly repeated with the iPhone 13PM.

I swear that the purple colour of he 14PM was the only aspect that I was umming and ahhing about when I finally returned it at the end of the four week trial period. But I knew that they wouldn't release another purple phone this year which almost made me want to pick up a 13PM this late in the cycle, until I heard the rumour of this rather bold sounding deep red edition.

I'm not feeling any of them. It's like they are giving the regular 15 juvenile colors so more people would go for the Pro. I like the idea of a dark red iPhone but I don't like the shade of the camera island. It kinda looks bloody. Hoping that those are not the exact shades they are gonna release.

CrippleOS. I like that. Why can’t apple give us a “pro” version of iOS that allows far more customization. Hell, call it a developer version and charge money for it.

I really don't get all the excitement over colors. Is anyone really using these things without a case? I'd like to but I tried it with the iPhone 6 and ended up with a shattered phone, even though I'm a lot more careful than most.
I never use a case. They're ugly and bulky.

No shot they give us a blue/pink this pretty. It'll be the same ugly, muted colors we always get. Sierra Blue was the only one approaching a color I actually like.

Nah that Midnight Green on the 11 Pro did it for me for real.
Truer words have never been spoken. One does not simply beat Midnight Green. Ever.
Maybe something like…
Hex #C48723
“Muddy Golden Retriever Bronze” base tones
with notes of “Under-bleached Skid Mark Sepia”

Metallic colours all look good though, having “something different” this year like the red or bronze would be a revelation. Can we expect that from Apple?

Here's a quick mask that removes the red background.

The flat sides are a good point, my favorite iPhone was the 4S, which definitely felt a lot more stable in the hand without a case than the rounded-side models (I'm currently still using iPhone X—with a grippy silicone case, but looking to upgrade soon). But then the newer phones are much larger and heavier than that phone too, and as I understand it, much more expensive to repair (for example ~$550 for iPhone 14 cracked rear glass). Since I tend to keep phones longer than 2 years these days, AppleCare will run out. I'm hoping they'll start to make the Pros with non-glass backs again, that'll give me more confidence.
My favorite phone so far was my 4, FWIW one of the best things about the mini is it’s significantly taller but not much wider than the 4/4s were, if you could hold the 4s with good stability and are looking to buy a phone to use naked right now the 13 mini is probably your best bet

I ended up getting the purple one for my current phone because I use a case, and decided I didn't care that much, but I miss the days when BLACK was an actual option.
Yes black is the only non bright color I like. But it has to be BLACK. Not gray, not navy....BLACK

Really digging the blue color of the potential iPhone 15. Though I’d probably just hold onto my 14 Pro.

Bulky? Depends on the case you are using but I certainly felt the same way.

I've had great success with this case. Very slim and the color matches the blue of my mini pretty close. Just enough to give me a bit more grip and help reduce any chance of scratching the sides/back.

Me! I never use cases. I use a leather sleeve since my first iPhone. Color is important to me as I use my iPhone “naked” 😉

I never use case and my iPhone 12 mini is immaculate. I only use a pouch while on transport but while using it its naked.
