And the opposite reality is, no matter what Apple introduces FanBoys with their apple blinding glasses will say "it's the best there ever was!" when in reality there are other options out there.

There sure is, just stick with the phone you have.

If it's >4 years old, that would be the smart choice.

I think this info below will wake some people up!

That is no surprise because we enabled Apple to get away with everything, even as storage memory prices have tumbled significantly. If you have 4K video recording or HQ picture that takes significant amount of space, it should be no brainer to enable 256GB storage for iPhone Pro and Pro Max models. I mean let's not even talk about iCloud storage capped at 5GB, more than decades ago but Apple continue to milk up profit margins while giving less and old tech of everything because we got bunch of "shut up and take my money" sheep fanboys.
You may think “sheep fanboys” are the naive ones but to me your take is more naive, and just shows you’re looking for someone to blame for your frustrations. Every product is a package of qualities that everyone values differently because value at its core is subjective (that’s why one can’t just add up the cost of parts to determine the value of a product). 256 GB is one quality that you apparently value strongly, but not everyone does. Others may strongly value things that you might not, such as titanium, periscope camera, etc. It’s foolish to consider your personal values objective.

It's also equally as foolish to believe that Apple can't keep up with other smartphones in terms of what we're offered and at what price point. They literally charge astronomical prices for any type of RAM upgrade on an iMac, when in theory, if we could just replace it ourselves with a cheaper alternative they wouldn't need to charge a premium.

Going to be such an underwhelming device this year. The 14 was a big upgrade with the screen and dynamic island. This is going to be all about the cameras.

Storage should start with 256GB, especially in case of price increase.
Flash memory has never been cheaper. Heck, nowadays SSDs cost less per GB than magnetic drives, for the 1st time ever. It would be bordeline criminal not to double the storage capacity even if the phone was to be the same price.
But as with macbooks and their ridiculously overpriced upgrades, apple can afford it, because there’s no real competiton out there to steal their customers

More RAM is good but it's really hard for me to believe the iPhone 15 will have a better main camera than the iPhone 15 Pro, if current rumors verify. That's unacceptable for the price they're charging. Hopefully the 15 Pro is also getting the 48 MP stacked sensor with the smaller f/1.6 aperture.

I see people still have not learned this is Apple's BS storage playbook...they market a low starting price to attract buyers and they know no one will buy the 128GB version, and get to charge 100 bucks extra for an extra 128GB of storage in 2023 which costs them 10 bucks.

Big chunk of their margins comes from storage upgrade since the upgrade prices are ridiculous and are no where near any sane multiple of real cost (or what storage sells for on consumer market).

8 GB RAM on a Pro phone… this isnt Pro… Fisher Price probably put more RAM in their activity center toys. Storage needs to be at least 1 TB these days.

Agree with you on the ram to an extent (however, iOS doesn’t need as much RAM as Android…) but I still have 140GB free on my 256GB phone, and could easily fit my entire photo library on a 512GB phone. I really think 256 is fine for a large amount of people.

This makes business sense for them…

This is what they want… a customer in store or online looking first at the starting price… then thinking but if i add this, and this and this…

Theres a name for it im sure… some airlines do the same with their “cheap tickets” but by the time you add luggage and other extras… youre looking at a much more expensive overall package.
