The 11 Pro started at $999 and the 11 Pro Max started at $1,099 (both with 64GB). Adjusting for inflation, that would be around $1,188 and $1,307 today. It would not be too unreasonable to see 15 Pro and Pro Max starting prices increased to $1,099 and $1,299 (both still less than inflation adjusted numbers) given that they'd have at least twice the storage.

Whether or not it happens remains to be seen. Analysts have frequently been wrong about price increases.

I was always planning to upgrade to the 15 Pro max. But I’m not really sure anymore.. my 12 PM is perfectly fine.

A $200 price hike for 15 Pro Max is Shirley bogus. Cost staying the same has much better optics. If there is an increase for Pro Max I would guess $50.

I am more and more likely to get the iPhone 15 Plus (512 GB). Reason: the pretty good efficiency of the A16 SoC plus rumors of a really high capacity battery.

Nuts for something that is practically just the same with slight camera improvements and a little bit more speed that you won’t really notice opening instagram
Yes people are “nuts”.

$1,200 for a smartphone that comes with a ~$50 monthly service fee and then tack on a few subscriptions at ~$15 each per month. Just to toss it in the recycle bin in 2 or 3 years to start the cycle all over again.

And people wonder why they are in debt living paycheck to paycheck.

They gotta pay those managers salaries some how, especially when they want more meetings to decide on the most minor of details.

it does cost money to design and manufacture a product that is easy to repair.
Basically nothins is free.
and we don't have to buy iPhone, there are lot of other options to choose from if you don't like what Apple is selling.
There may be other options but moving to another OS is not easy when your photo library and other media are the way they are. The way you’ve been communicating using FaceTime Audio/Video, iMessage with various people who may not want to have to download an app so you can continue to use free internet based communication methods.

It’s a really difficult thing to do. Unless you’re a complete loner or inconsiderate and don’t have attachment to anything or anyone.

Reasonably priced in my opinion. Go get an Android if you don't want to pay the 'Apple Tax'. The iPhone is an incredible tool. Let's say you keep the thing for 4 years. It's essentially one dollar per day. How many of you willfully spend $5+ per day on a cup of coffee marked up 400%.

With my military discount, my iPhone 14 Pro Max 1TB was $1,439 before taxes and Apple Care. Add another $180 (after 10% discount) brings the price to proposed cost to $1,619 for the same model iPhone 15. That is no big deal to me because I can afford it.

Those complaining about the iPhone prices, don't buy one and get brand X. Obviously, the issue is the huge number of folks buying on time and actually really can not afford this luxury. Living within your means has the advantage of stress free daily living. An iPhone is NOT a must have item as contrasted to food and shelter.

Folks need to get their economic priorities in the right order and try paying cash rather than incurring debt for non-essential items.

I have a 14PM now - I have been looking for opportunities to "downgrade" either to the regular pro or either of the normal phones. Definitely will do that whenever I buy a new phone.

It's crazy to think how many items you used to get when purchasing an iPhone back in the day. Fast forward to today, and you get less than half of the stuff you see in the photo below. Half of the asking price too!

How times have changed!

If this isn’t apparent for the non-Americans in the house, we like free stuff.

I have a XS Max and I use the telephoto lens all the time.

I have an iPhone 14 for work, and outside of night mode, I like the camera better on the XS Max.

Guess I’ll be looking at a 13 PM or a 14 PM in the fall.

Wait is that a thing the the EU requires? First time I hear this, where did you get that info from?

Was thinking logically.

Among all Apple customers, it is safe to say there are more lightning cables than USB-C cables. The idea that they included lightning cables last year but won't include USB-C cables for when they change the port is ridiculous.

No, you didn’t explain anything. You are just naming random things and then saying “causes costs to go up.” It’s fantasy land but oh well.
Sounds like you didn't have a rebuttal to the valid reasons for costs being passed to the customer and instead, accused me of "naming random things"

We're done. Have a good one.

Wondering how it will look like in Europe. Recently European currencies got stronger compared to dollar. Will they take it into account the same as last year when they increased prices so much when dollar was strong?

Yes, Apple prices outside the US is usually:

Price in USD * exchange rate * VAT rate + protection from currency fluctuation + additional cost of doing business.

So by using Price in USD * exchange rate * VAT rate you get a minimum price. Add about 10% and you'll be pretty close.

Smartphones cost money but they have also been able to help people save money in other ways as they can potentially eliminate the need for things like a separate still camera, video camera, calculator, GPS device, music player, radio, video player, stopwatch/timer, tape recorder, alarm clock, flashlight, compass, measuring tape, game console, pedometer, landline phone and service, and more. Having to buy all of these things separately, as used to be the case decades ago, can make smartphones a relative bargain.
