Sheeeesh! iPhone 15 Pro Max going up $200.00?

It better have all the most advanced features and the best battery life a smartphone can offer in today's world. Personally, I think iPhone 15 Pro Max will start at $1,199, not $1,299.
Battery life never was a priority for Apple. They famously invented the watch that doesn't last a day, and iPhones definitely went this way. Hope these trendy Flip phones will stir them a bit.

On a positive note: This will be the first price hike since iPhone X which was 6 years ago.

I do the yearly iPhone upgrade program and have done so since it was introduced. Owned every iPhone except the 4S.

If they raise the price by $200, I will still buy this iPhone but move to a 3 year cycle. This is getting ridiculous, especially considering the raw profit Apple makes per iPhone.

This iPhone will have USB-C, which honestly is the last thing I’ve needed for years.

Hilarious comments from Americans. We Europeans have been subsiding your prize freeze for years - welcome to the club. You will pay it. You’ll say you won’t, like we did. But in the end you will pay it. Like we did. We were the Guinea pigs.

so you want apple to be prounions.
you want right to repair.
you want usb-c which means apple must keep including the charging cable for the next 5 years.
you want apple to allow sideloading.
you want Apple to get sued for XYZ.

gee i wonder why they increased prices.

next time you complain about something related to Apple products, just remember that the costs almost always get passed onto you, the consumer.
You want all of that too, just like any other sane person.

And all of that is the norm, the default; how things should be and how they've always been until Apple decided that iPhone customers are so unworthy and ignorant that they will buy anything, regardless of how lacklustre the product is. It's not the situation of «they demand us to make a better product so we will raise the prices»; it's more of a «the product was so inferior that it should never costed this much in the first place».

The right to repair means you can keep using this expensive device for longer, among other things. It will allow you to have your device serviced with original parts for market prices instead of insanely inflated Apple Prices. It will also allow people to repair parts like motherboards and screens instead of just throwing them away, causing piles of e-waste. Ultimately, it will make Apple customers happier and more satisfied than ever before.

Sideloading means you can actually own your expensive device and do whatever you please with it. You won't have to create additional App Store accounts for apps that are unavailable in your region. You'll be able to use any apps, not just those approved by Tim Apple and some of the most democratic democrats in the world. You won't have to use web version of Telegram in order to see all the channels with pictures of naked anime girls. You'll be able to support developers of your favourite apps directly and use the real actual internet without the Apple Tax.

USB-C — good for the planet, good for convenience, and good for Apple because customers are, again, happier.

The best time to finally provide customers with these features / ideas was 5 years ago. The second best time is now.

A number of people purchase these phones on 24 month plans, thus $100 increase is $4/month, $200 is $8/month.
Thus the pricing is inelastic for consumers on plans.
I'm on the Verizon yearly upgrade where you pay 1/24th of the phone per month, turn it in for upgrade after 12 payments. The bigger hit is the 8% NYC taxes and the $60 leather iPhone case each year.

The upgrades are worth it for professionals in urban areas such as NYC where I live primarily because of the improved Qualcomm modem (to be the X70 upgraded from X65) and transceiver electronics (same modem as the newest Samsung S23 series).

The modems consume less power than and have much improved signal reach with weak signals (< 120 dBm) which can be the case in skyscrapers, subways, basements, underground parking garages, or very congested area.

Unfortunately, many people outside the USA have to pay a ridiculous 20% VAT with each iPhone purchase and not every company offers monthly plans.

You want the yearly upgrades because of the much improved signal quality (and battery life) of the new modems and transceiver electronics. The new X70 is much improved over the current X65. The signal improves for skyscrapers, subways, underground parking garages, congested areas.

Really? Currently the best battery life on a phone but they don’t care? The last time apple didn’t prioritize battery life was probably 5 generations ago.

If they raised the prices ($100, not $200) on the Pro models, but the storage started at 256 GB it wouldn't be so bad...

Wouldn't matter because the higher storage models are still getting more expensive.

Price going up is cool if they justify it...and it's going to take more than just a new lens... maybe 16gb of ram?

Nope.

- Instead of unions, people should be more fluid in quitting their jobs, letting the free market work.
- Right to repair? I let Apple repair. I don't have time to heat up the panel to open up the iPhone. Instead, I tap a button, - Apple sends me a new iPhone, I send in the old one, job done. Apple takes care of recycling my iPhone. Less time wasted for me.
- Sideloading means Microsoft/Adobe/Activision/etc... are eventually going to leave the app store and force users to install their stores to continue using apps I've already paid for. Multiple stores running in background to autoupdate apps and run push notification services means it'll kill my battery.
- USB-C is actually worse for the planet assuming Apple was going to go portless in the next few years. But because they were forced to switch, it's more than likely they'll delay going portless, requiring billions of extra USB-C cables to be produced before going portless. The plan of removing charging cable from the box has been delayed by several years and average number of cables a human buys in this generation goes up because of USB-C.

Sorry, but none of these things are good.

Sounds about right. I just hope it comes with a bump to 256gb standard.
Below that it is actually funny to call it "pro". Realistic memory is 512 or 1TB (for pro's). I think regular iphones should go 512 and less, pro's 512 and higher. I watch often whole seasons on iphone (vlc) while traveling. it takes already 50 gig's and more of space away. +music, podcasts, pics, apps, ... /// 512GB is entry level ;-)

$200 more for a $50 camera. That's about as Apple as it comes.... (And yes I know there is more than a camera but a $200 hike for the minimal upgrades its getting is laughable.
