iPhone 15 Pro Max Likely to Start at $1,199 to $1,299, Says Analyst

Battery life never was a priority for Apple. They famously invented the watch that doesn't last a day, and iPhones definitely went this way. Hope these trendy Flip phones will stir them a bit.

All other things equal, yes, more battery life is always better, but it’s never really without trade offs, because a larger battery also means a thicker and heavier device.

I think it’s more accurate to say that battery life, as with any other feature, matters up to a certain extent. They give you enough battery life to last a day, based on their own set of assumptions of how they envision their products being used.

That’s what engineering really is at the end of the day. Managing the various trade offs.

What's funny (?) to me is that I'll upgrade my phone to the tune of $1K without really thinking about it too much, but when it comes to my MacBook, I am WAY more miserly for some reason.
At least for me, I use my phone WAY more than I use my MBA(M1). I like both but its just so much easier to pull my iphone out for 99% of things so it gets used more. I am the same way though with phones and then hesitant with my laptops.

Not sure how old you are, but back when I bought my first non-bag cell phone, batteries lasted a couple of hours - at best. And that was just for making phone calls. Apple, just like every other manufacturer, doesn’t design a device so that a battery lasts less than a day. Battery life is driven by the demands being placed on it and the size of the battery. You want a battery that lasts for days, instead of one day, then you have to compromise on size, screen tech and brightness, wireless radio tech, etc. Apple has gotten far better than most other manufacturers in controlling the efficiency of the various chips and screen tech they use, which is why iPhones offer some of the best battery life.

so you want apple to be prounions.
you want right to repair.
you want usb-c which means apple must keep including the charging cable for the next 5 years.
you want apple to allow sideloading.
you want Apple to get sued for XYZ.

gee i wonder why they increased prices.

next time you complain about something related to Apple products, just remember that the costs almost always get passed onto you, the consumer.

Because shareholders refuse to take a smaller cut

These (anti-consumer) things you list are a hint at what makes Apple the richest company in the world. Being sued over them is their own fault in the first place. If they didn't take such strong stances to bleed consumers wherever possible it wouldn't be so easy to target them.

Hilarious comments from Americans. We Europeans have been subsiding your prize freeze for years - welcome to the club. You will pay it. You’ll say you won’t, like we did. But in the end you will pay it. Like we did. We were the Guinea pigs.
Lol I won't pay it, my carrier will when they offer $800-$1,000 for a trade-in for an old beat up phone that I don't use anymore. This is one way apple knows they can get away with jacking up the prices since pretty much every carrier gives huge incentives for trade-ins to get an iPhone.

Joking aside, I feel like someone is throwing a bait so Apple can adjust.

Sheeeesh! iPhone 15 Pro Max going up $200.00?

It better have all the most advanced features and the best battery life a smartphone can offer in today's world. Personally, I think iPhone 15 Pro Max will start at $1,199, not $1,299.
Even if that’s the price, Apple is going to have to up the storage to 256GB. It’s the only way that makes sense.

I will be shocked if there’s a price increase without substantial improvements like upgrading storage to what the price would have cost if had upgraded from 128 to 256GB.

Sounds reasonable to me.

Inflation and increased iPhone cost of goods and assembly/test labor. Also... salary and benefit raises for the 160,000+ Apple employees. Increased cost of property leases, services, insurance, etc. Increased costs of running Apple's 526 retail stores worldwide.

I guess people who are complaining have not been subject to inflation and increased costs for almost everything purchased in their lives over the last 3-5 years.

Folks, they’re preparing your minds to be comfortable with these figures. Although initially unfathomable - with repetition - wild propaganda, theories, ideas, etc. sometimes become easier to accept. The same way Apple know they can count on analysts and rumours to soften wild prices with time before they get announced.
I think the same thing has been happening with eggs although personally I’m still not comfortable with those prices 🤭

With the minor updates since iphone x , i have decided to hang onto to iphone much longer than my 2 year upgrade cycle previously.

I cannot justify buying a iphone that looks like my iphone 12 pro max, with little updates under the hood.

For me its best i waste my money on the iphone 16 ultra! or 17 ultra!
