How do case makers work around this? I have no desire to go naked on an $A2000 phone.
Apple’s one will be there.

Ended up just defaulting to them as in my experience they are simple, ergonomic, work and last all the years that a phone is in service (2 to 3 years at the earliest).
Sometimes the cheaper ones can be overly convoluted and/or insane thick and/or make key UX interaction woes like pressing the side-volume/lock buttons incredibly hard.

Ugh, I’m a sucker for smaller bezels. I don’t think it’ll get me to upgrade from my 14 Pro Max though with the rumored price hikes and likely minimal difference in day-to-day usage.
It’s as big as the jump from iPhone 12 Pro to iPhone 14 Pro.
Once they remove the dynamic island
It will be the iPhone people will keep for 10 years.
Because the only thing they will be able to upgrade will be the cameras and display being 4K.

How about they try slim down the giant camera bump?

Or keep improving battery?

We might get less bezel but will need to pay more!

I think the bezels are fine as they are. Soo much better than the old design with the huge forehead and chin. God those designs pre X were awful. I don't know how people can still use those phones!

Technician here, for those of you that don’t know the bezel of the iPhone serves multiple purposes. Apart from its visible functions, such as enhancing the phone's appearance, it also works as a liquid barrier and provides structural support to the phone's internal components. By reducing the thickness of the bezel, not only the size of the liquid barrier (which was increased in Apple Watch Ultra for added protection) but also the thickness of the aluminum frame inside the perimeter of the phone is reduced. Therefore, a thinner bezel may result in a phone that is less resistant to liquids and more prone to bending compared to its earlier models. A thinner bezel does not seem to be an improvement at any level, consumers upgrading to this model will suffer from diminishing returns

Probably by buying a cell plane, touching the home button and selecting an app or call.

Seriously, as long as it works as the user needs it the aesthetics are secondary and not a good reason to upgrade for a lot of users.

I don’t think it’ll be a very big issue. My Apple and Bullstrap cases both have a very small lip on the case. iPhones also have MagSafe that can help keep the case in place along with friction from the phones edges if the case is suitably tight fitting on the sides.

I have zero desire for less bezels. It only means that the case will be even uglier and will have a harder time protecting the phone.
The iPhone has never been possible to use without a case, it has always been slippery like a soap. Now, more or less totally made from glass and a pricetag above a good laptop, they are soon way too fragile and way too expensive to actually use day-to-day.
I don't need a rugged phone looking all "tactical", but ffs, make them have some impact areas and able to take some abuse.
The 3G/3Gs were great, the screen was pretty well protected from drops, and the plastic case made it somewhat less slippery.
True. It makes no sense to design a phone, which goes inside the pocket and risks falling on the sidewalk when you run to catch the tram, with the same principles of a MacBook Air. Only Nokia understood how to make rugged devices that did not look "tactical".

I don’t give a rip about the thinner bezel, but the buttons that aren’t going to “click” are a dealbreaker for me. Ugh. I’m kind of sorry I traded in my 13PM for the 14PM (the camera crashes are super annoying) but noooooooOOoo I *had* to have purple. Not sure I’ll continue to a 15PM if this is the direction they are headed.
