I don’t like the current bezels being as thing as they are. It makes holding the phone more difficult and app makers are already abusing that grip. E.g. Youtube puts ads at the bottom of the app on the phone, causing ad selections when you are just re-orienting your phone or even putting it down. Yes, I am even talking abut when I am using an Apple case on the phone. Just a poor experience.

Not a fan.

Solid-state buttons in a case … Surely Apple has a solution for that, but the makers of cheap cases surely will struggle. Probably the button area will simply stay open on those(for cost reasons).

Surprised we still haven't gotten something with all 4 sides as thin as Sharps phone from 7 years ago

For me, the whole bezel size issues is about eye candy and not usability. My concern with such a design is will it make the screen easier to break with a curved screen vs one surrounded by a metal frame?

Yes, the fixation on thick bezels is amusing, eh? Take away the bezels and you take away some user interface reliability. I'm constantly having to adjust my grip because part of my lower thumb is unintentionally touching the screen, rendering my other touches unrecognized.

I find this a super boring measurement.
Say what you will about Samsung, but they bent the edge around the corners and that worked very very well. A thinner bezel is like promoting an efficient Diesel engine in the electric car era: It's really not impressive.
This is off topic but I had to respond to your comparison.. An efficient diesel engine will drive right past an electric car on a trip longer than 300 miles. It would be sitting at a charging station as the diesel keeps going for another 100-200 miles. Then a 15 minute fill up and bathroom break an he's back on the road.. On a cross country trip the diesel owner would be at his destination a day earlier than the electric car..The real electric car killer would be a diesel hybrid. Easily 100mpg.. Electric cars are fine for short trips or city driving but long distance isn't a strong point..

The iPhone 15 Pro Max will have the thinnest bezels of any smartphone, beating the record currently held by the Xiaomi 13. That's according to the leaker known as "Ice Universe," who has divulged accurate information about Apple's plans in the past.

Both iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to have thinner, curved bezels compared to the iPhone 14 Pro, potentially resulting in an Apple Watch-like appearance, but if the leaker is correct, the larger 6.7-inch model will have the most minimal of bezels.

In a tweet, Ice Universe said the iPhone 15 Pro Max will "break the record" of 1.81mm bezels held by the Xiaomi 13, with Apple's upcoming model coming with a black bezel width of just 1.55mm. For comparison, Ice Universe gives measurements for bezels on the iPhone 14 Pro (2.17mm) and the Samsung Galaxy Ultra S23 (1.95mm).

Ice Universe could be referring to the chin on the Xiaomi 13 or the leaker meant to say 1.61mm, as per the above image. We've contacted them for confirmation and will update if we hear back. Either way, the bezels on the iPhone 15 Pro Max are still said to be thinner.

According to rumors, the bezels on all four iPhone 15 models are expected to be slightly curved around the edges, similar to the iPhone 11 series, but the width of the bezels on the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are not expected to diverge from those on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. The iPhone 15 lineup is also expected to feature the same display sizes as last year's lineup.

With even thinner bezels around the display, the iPhone 15 Pro models could have a similar appearance as the Apple Watch Series 7 and Series 8. Rumors suggest the Pro models will also feature a titanium frame instead of stainless steel, and solid-state volume, mute, and power buttons that do not physically move when pressed.

Ice Universe has previously shared CAD renders and dimensions that also suggest the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be unique in featuring a thinner camera bump and smaller footprint.

Apple is expected to announce its next iPhone lineup in September as usual. For the latest rumors, read our iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro roundups.

Almost every time I see someone with these wrap around the edges screens they are cracked.

I have zero desire for less bezels. It only means that the case will be even uglier and will have a harder time protecting the phone.
The iPhone has never been possible to use without a case, it has always been slippery like a soap. Now, more or less totally made from glass and a pricetag above a good laptop, they are soon way too fragile and way too expensive to actually use day-to-day.
I don't need a rugged phone looking all "tactical", but ffs, make them have some impact areas and able to take some abuse.
The 3G/3Gs were great, the screen was pretty well protected from drops, and the plastic case made it somewhat less slippery.
Most importantly, the 3G/s was small enough (by design!) to be easily held in the average hand, unlike today’s grotesque two-handed monstrosities

I already have issues with the heel (heel pad?) of my hand touching the bottom corner of the screen. This effectively blocks input when typing one handed or reaching my thumb to tap near the top of the screen.

One would hope that Apple is anticipating this and coming up with a way to ignore accidental touches on the edge of the display.
I had the same problem though the case on my phone alleviates this over no case. I have to admit thinner bezels was never a feature I was looking for so I hope usability doesn't take a hit as a result.

Some people won’t be happy until phones/tablet have no bezel, are made with unbreakable rigid glass (with no visible battery, chips, etc.), that also happens to fold in half perfectly with no visible or physical seam. Oh, and it will need to be both very thin, and perfectly thick, while weighing very little, but enough to feel like it’s a premium product.
