So the screen will be even more likely to crack when the phone falls on its edge?

Are they going to go back to rounded edges that the glass extends to so it's even easier for it to slip and hit the screen instead of a metal edge?

Looks like firing Ive wasn't enough.

That’s not how this works, it’s already glass in the black bezel area up to the metal frame, this just means that more of that black space under the glass will be screen. So zero difference in durability, as long as they don’t curve the glass.

This is a tech site right?

I already have issues with the heel (heel pad?) of my hand touching the bottom corner of the screen. This effectively blocks input when typing one handed or reaching my thumb to tap near the top of the screen.

One would hope that Apple is anticipating this and coming up with a way to ignore accidental touches on the edge of the display.

Question: I don't use an iphone but I like to know how do y'all get used to the notch or dynamic island, I get that the dynamic island seems easier to forget when watching a video or playing a game but what about the notch?

The island is way better because the screen goes all the way around it, so after awhile your brain sort of fills in the gap and you don’t notice it.

This meticulously created phone is meticulously created to be put in a case. You almost can't even use them now without one. They are too thin and too heavy. It makes them extremely awkward to a hold. A chonky case not only protects the $1000+ device, but balances it out and makes it much more comfortable to actually hold.

I've never used a case, haven't had any issues at all, although I typically have some sort of insurance for peace of mind. Today's phones are already huge enough, I don't need a case adding size and drastically decreasing comfort. Most I've ever done was use a skin, but I don't even bother with those anymore.

After reading all of the comments, I think we can all agree that we don't care about this and it's a foolish effort for Apple to invest in.

Now it will be even more difficult for older people to handle their phones without accidentally touching something. "Whoops, what happened? It's gone now. I don't know. It just went away."

You know what would be nice? Make it so users could change icons, and theme the appearance of their devices.
How about an option for autocorrect for "Keep autocorrect on if I type a mispelled word, but DON'T chance a properly spelled and grammatically correct word to another word."

How about fix all the things that broke in Siri over time, like "call so-and-so on speakerphone" stopped working.

"Can't innovate anymore, my ass." - This thin bezel will change my life. Finally my kids will respect me, and my employer will give me a raise when they notice my phone has the "world's thinnest bezel"

I think they should put their efforts towards getting rid of the pill. That's more intrusive to the display. The punch hole is much less intrusive than the pill I'd say, even if you disguise it with the gimmicky dynamic island.

It is.. just one of the most out of touch and tech illiterate ones.

Ugh, I’m a sucker for smaller bezels. I don’t think it’ll get me to upgrade from my 14 Pro Max though with the rumored price hikes and likely minimal difference in day-to-day usage.
It’s going to change nothing about its day to day use. And thinnest bezels. Yea I don’t see that happening at all. Maybe thinnest bezel on an apple device. But not on a smartphone….

But it will still have a big ass notch while even mid-tier Android phones have only a super small punch hole.

I'm not that impressed by dynamic island as it still eats up too much screen real estate.
Yea the dynamic island is the place apple send good ideas to die. The dynamic island is terrible. Makes games terrible to play, makes videos terrible to watch. It’s not a feature if it take functionality away. It’s regression.

I hope this leak is wrong. I want thicker bezels. I want places I can grip the phone without touching the screen, I want to use a thick case that makes it indestructable without covering the screen at all.

I thought this kind of impractical design left with Jony Ive.

I wouldn’t use my iPhone without a case so everybody is different. The positive from that is there is no correct method.

While that would be nice profit maximization requires differentiation.

Apple are behind though as features like triple camera systems, and higher 120hz screens are seen on devices at the same price point as the standard iPhones. Apple seems to be deliberately making their standard phones appear dated in order for that differentiation to the Pro iPhones. It’s all getting a bit long in the tooth. Maybe they need to increase the prices of the Pro’s and actually justify this with premium features like they haven’t been doing recently.
