Thought they were going portliness?

At home I only wireless charge. I thought portliness would be fine until I remembered I use the plug my phone into my car for CarPlay as I don't have wireless CarPlay. I only used my port in the car so hang USB-C with or without thunderbolt sounds good to me.

I would've been more excited to see port-less setup with data transfer over MagSafe; that would be cool, even cooler if it was USB 3 or Thunderbolt speeds.

If iPhone 15 Pro series get Thunderbolt ports, then I’ll bet they will also get an M-series chip and support for Stage Manager via external display.

apple better not make it usb 2.0 speeds . Seriously especially now that they have more room by removing sim card and inserting trash plastic spacer. I actually need high speeds I use sony cameras for photography and when i don’t have my ipad to backup to lightroom i have my cf express reader on me with sadly a usbc to lightning cable to back up my photos to lightroom on my iphone 13 pro max . Slow process shooting uncompressed raw 70-100mb each photo. Apple literally is hindering their phones but yet want people to record in prores
Who knows with Apple and their bread crumbs. They release new tech/updates based on how long they can extend the product life without.

This seems highly unlikely. That would be a feature for such an extremely small use case. Most people only use the connector cord to charge. I was even talking to someone that uses the new iPhone camera professionally and they just send everything wirelessly. I don't think I've heard of someone using a cable to transfer data from an iPhone. This seems like a waste of money for a feature that will be used by almost no one. Plus, wouldn't it increase security concerns? A portless iPhone is more secure.

I really hope Apple doesn’t tout this as the must have feature for the 15 and leaves everything else the same as the 14. That’s probably what will happen though…
We think you're gonna love it.

So a spec bump type upgrade?

iPhone 15 Pro cannot get 20 Gbps support because it is USB 3.2 Gen2x2 but all latest Macs don't support it, just 10 Gbps or TB 3/4/USB4. USB4 is not back-compatible with Gen2x2.

I wonder will Apple have readied a new I/O chip for Thunderbolt 3/USB Certified 10Gbps connectivity that will be reasonably power-efficient? This isn't an iPad Pro or MacBook Air/Pro, where the battery is big enough to support current Thunderbolt 3 connectivity.

The connector for charging is not going to be THE feature if these phones. It will be mentioned to **** everyone up, but it isn’t going to be THE selling point because nobody actually cares about this outside the tech press.

I do, so do a lot of people. I can't wait until I can charge everything in my backpack with the same cables, it makes life a lot easier
