I'm really tired of apps getting kicked out of memory every time I open the camera app. This is probably the biggest reason to increase RAM. Apple needs to stop cheaping out in the name of higher profits - they already have the highest margins in the industry by far, with plenty of room for additional RAM while still leading the industry in profit. But they won't.

Also, It would be ideal if Apple starts implementing M2 or M3 Processors on iPhones one day! One day!
But “A” series is purpose-built for the power envelope of small devices like phones. Agreed it would be nice and really needed to up the RAM amount to M-series levels, though.

What will be interesting is seeing how close this cutting edge processor built on the 3nm node will be to the original M1! I don’t think it will beat it but maybe it’s not that far away.

Such a small speed improvement and yet somehow the speed difference in last years phone running this new OS it’s going to be multiple times slower than the new phone. Or it always seems like it anyways.
Where are you getting your data?
Speed difference has never been noticeable between two consecutive gens or even three when it comes to iPhones. It’s usually the battery hit people complain about as newer devices tend to do perform better due to both software being optimized and the raw power.

My 13P is just as smooth on 17 as it was the last versions.

Split-screen multitasking may not look cool in iOS tho. I think Apple needs to increase the size of the screen. (Not just make it taller but wider too) to take full advantage of the split-screen. Maybe iPhone Ultra will offer that?

Works fine on Android 😂

Phones are maxed out on the small screens with power. These chips are insane for phones and so far applications dont need it. It's time to use the phones to power bigger screens. Your phone can be your 1 computer.

Not sure about the desire for RAM. I have never noticed RAM being a problem on my iPhone.

That's what we need to happen. Your pocket would get pretty toasty if you pushed the silicone tho 😁

Why would they work backwards?

The A series processors are literally the newest tech that the M2 or M3 processors are built on with additional stuff tacked on for laptop/desktop use.

The M2 chips are using the same core architecture as the A15 chips

Stage Manager looks and works crappily on iPadOS IMO, but that didn’t stop them from shipping a product that everybody sh*t on at launch.

Are they just gonna give up on the split-screen multitasking on iOS if they can’t make it “look cool”?

I’d argue that simply having two apps on the screen at once would be/look pretty cool, and not being able to do so is pretty lame.

Being able to look at an attachment in messages, switch apps, and then not be forced back to the conversation view would be pretty cool too.
That’s why we have choices.
Samsung kept pushing phones the size of an arm which would be practical for multitasking. Getting it done on an iPhone without compromising UX is no original feat. Takes a lot of design changes and a device this size you might even compromise legibility which would be a huge downside for visually impaired.

How does the Galaxy S23 Ultra have 12GB of RAM and the PRO iPhone 15 that came after it will only have 6GB? It is extremely ridiculous especially if Apple raises the price of the phones and not even have more RAM.
Samsung is focused on numbers: 5000 mAh, 12GB RAM, 200MP. The result? Weak battery life, excessive RAM due to subpar software optimization, and a camera outperformed by a 12MP one.

Dang, 6GB RAM again? Look its great on my 13 Pro Max, but I would assume Apple will be bringing/adding more features post-release to the 15 models so 6GB RAM may be quite constraining for them much like 1GB RAM was on iPhone 6.
The A17 chip I am sure will be a beast and incredibly efficient, but it would be great if we do at least see the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max get bumped up to 8GB RAM.

Alright I mean 6gb ram on an iPhone is still good, I have no problems with it on my 14 Pro Max. But 8gb ram would've been nice so there would be less app refreshes, so it does sting that the 15 Pro Max won't get 8gb ram. We've had 6gb ram on flagship iPhones since the 12 Pro.

I used my iPhone 7 from 2016-2022 with 2GB of ram and I was totally happy with it all the way through. Now I have the 14pro with 6GB. I wonder how I will feel at the end of this next 6 year run? Probably fine. I’m curious how much ram the 2028 iPhones will have? Probably 12 GB.

3.7GHz in your pocket is amazing to me. For college, I remember my 40lbs tower from "Gateway" 😂 had a 1.0Ghz Intel Core Duo. Probably required the power of small city to run.
It’s amazing what we take for granted. I remember when I was happy to have a desktop computer with 1GB RAM. Now we have a device with 6GB RAM that fits inside your pocket and people are complaining?
