While I dont discredit the source. This could be the first time Apple offers RAM+Storage Solution. For example.

  • 6GB RAM on models with 256GB, or 512GB storage
  • 8GB RAM on models with 1TB or 2TB storage

The iPhone now follows the same rules as iPad Pro and Macs
This is an easy way for Apple to push the upgrade path. I bought higher storage than I wanted with the iPad just for the RAM. I would do the same for the iPhone.

I'd rather have 8GB standard across all the Pro models but I wouldn't mind this if it was the only way to get 8GB. 6GB of RAM for the 15 Pro would be super stingy after 3+ years of having it (since the 12 Pro!).

That’s why we have choices.
Samsung kept pushing phones the size of an arm which would be practical for multitasking. Getting it done on an iPhone without compromising UX is no original feat. Takes a lot of design changes and a device this size you might even compromise legibility which would be a huge downside for visually impaired.
Good god. How do you reach that far for excuses without your arm detaching into orbit?

The Galaxy Note 2 (2012) had a 5.5” 720p screen, which was enormous and laughable at the time, and now Apple and other companies don’t even make a modern phone that small. The Note 2 (and smaller phones) supported split-screen.

Nobody is being forced to use it. If the text is too small, users can zoom or increase the size!

I don’t see why this is such a complicated issue and why people feel the need to fiercely justify the omission of a basic feature that every other phone has had for years.

I'm really tired of apps getting kicked out of memory every time I open the camera app. This is probably the biggest reason to increase RAM. Apple needs to stop cheaping out in the name of higher profits - they already have the highest margins in the industry by far, with plenty of room for additional RAM while still leading the industry in profit. But they won't.
Apple isn’t cheating out on ram in the name of higher profits. It’s a balancing act between energy use, heat, actual performance and UX. Adding more ram increases energy use, which then affects battery life and heat generated.

Have you ever worked on developing a product that people buy and use, because the idea that just because Apple is more profitable than other manufacturers is simply misguided. Profit isn’t even part of the mandate that engineers and designer have when working on a new product. That falls on the purchasing and sourcing teams to negotiate the best terms to hit the price point and margins needed.

If they fit, user will have a heater in the hand. Working for 15-30 mins until the charger is connected again. Iphone beats the best phones all the time. And who wants that android-crap anyway...
Wasn‘t the point of the M series that it was optimized for Macs? It’s already kind of weird the iPads get it, the iPhones getting it sounds purely like branding... I’m sure it would be the binned versions anyways.
