Curved = no sale
I liked my curved Samsung - which technically would be thinner bezels than this since they were really wrapped around the side of the phone (this this was the forehead and chin era so there was that). The only annoying thing was by default, touching the curve would launch something or do something - turned that #%# off right way.

"Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO Ross Young said iPhone 15 Pro display shipments are now "ramping" as the technical issues are overcome, further increasing the likelihood that Apple will not delay the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro models. At worst, it seems that shipping estimates on launch day may slip quicker than they would have otherwise."

Isn't this just a copy/paste of the exact same report of the iPhone 14 when it was on the way? Delayed, manufacturing issues, constrained supply, etc. Same exact caca from the pundits and "supply chain sources".

The mobile phone factor has now been iterated on enough times that we're about at the knee on the "diminishing returns" curve. I really don't think that shaving a mm or two off the bezel, or thickness, or a gram or so on the weight etc etc is really going to make any significant difference to anyone's lives. What it does do, is that it means all those phone case manufacturers have to create fresh tooling, and fresh product, because their old products don't fit. It's all totally pointless and a huge waste of resources. Stop faffing around the edges (no pun intended) and crack on with something seriously innovative. Camera tweak? It's probably about as good as it needs to be. New sound processing and projection? It's probably about as good as it needs to be. Haptic buttons? Do me a favour... Where is the seriously impressive leap forward. Something genuinely fresh in a mobile phone form factor that is actually useful and going to make a real impact. Something that is totally compelling and that I really want to own and use.

Amen. Precisely why I am meh about the 15 Pro line. Keeping my 14 ProMax it is fast enough, wonderful camera, great screeen, videos, sound. What you are saying is all this is plateaued mostly and thats correct. Heck I get tired of having to buy a new case each year rather than keep the one I have and like.

Now the 16 ProMax Camera rumors only if true might start to be a bit more than camera tweaks we are supposed to be seeing in the 15 Pro Line and may get me to then upgrade my 14 ProMax. It sounds (if true) that the 16 Pro cameras might be a big jump in telephoto capabilities that start to finally rival a bit of what I do with my DSLR and telephoto lens.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about ultra thin bezels? I feel like if this is causing issues, there's more useful things I'd rather they spend time focusing on. In fact, here's a design idea: make the phone slightly thicker to make the camera bump less obnoxious, and to allow for a bigger battery.
Please!

Non feature. iPhones are boring.
Actually this whole smartphone marketplace is now fragile, so iPhone build gimmicks might help.

Global smartphone shipments during the April, May and June months totaled 258.2 million units as per the latest Canalys Smartphone Market Pulse report. The figure represents a 10% decline compared to the same period last year. Despite the sixth straight quarter of negative growth, global smartphone demand is slowly rebounding thanks to industry-wide inventory reductions and rising regional market demand.

So even with rumored manufacturing issues, Apple doesn't have to make as many. (-13% annual growth)
Cheaper smartphones in emerging markets is the only growth parameter that is doing well. Apple rumored raising prices won't help with that for sure.

I thought that Apple always is a few years ahead in its planning. So they should already work at the iPhone 17 or so right now. So it's strange that the run into manufacturing issues all the time.

Frankly I think the thinner bezels in the comparison photos look hideous. Apple has ALWAYS had thick bezels of some kind in relation to the screen and I’ve loved that. It’s what makes Apple Apple.. These just look like some ugly android but worse kind of screen. Sorry but please keep 14 Pro look. Nothing about this is symmetrical at all. And is out of balance with the Dynamic island. Please don’t let this be a thing 🤮

Apple's upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are rumored to feature thinner bezels around the display compared to the current models, but this change has reportedly led to a manufacturing issue ahead of the devices launching.

Below, we recap what has been reported about the manufacturing issue and what impact it might have on the iPhone 15 Pro launch later this year.

Thinner Bezels

Multiple leakers have shared images and videos of alleged front glass panels for the iPhone 15 Pro models, and these panels appear to have considerably thinner bezels around the display compared to iPhone 14 Pro models. The bezels are expected to have a slightly curved design, and the Pro Max model could have the thinnest bezels on any smartphone ever.

YouTube channel Unbox Therapy provided a side-by-side comparison of the bezels on an unofficial iPhone 15 Pro Max dummy model and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

While most rumors have claimed only the Pro models will have a bezel reduction this year, a previously-accurate leaker known as Ice Universe shared an image showing that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus might have slightly thinner bezels as well.

Manufacturing Issue

Last week, The Information's Wayne Ma reported that Apple suppliers were facing challenges assembling iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max displays with thinner bezels, and he said the issue could lead to a supply shortage when the devices launch in September. He said the issue was more pronounced with the Pro Max model.

Bloomberg's Debby Wu and Takashi Mochizuki subsequently reported there was a "minor hiccup" with the displays, but said the issue should be fixed "within a week or two" and "will not have a noticeable impact on overall production."

Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO Ross Young said iPhone 15 Pro display shipments are now "ramping" as the technical issues are overcome, further increasing the likelihood that Apple will not delay the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro models. At worst, it seems that shipping estimates on launch day may slip quicker than they would have otherwise.

Other Features

Beyond thinner bezels, the iPhone 15 Pro models are rumored to feature a USB-C port, titanium frame, customizable Action button, faster A17 Bionic chip, camera improvements, Wi-Fi 6E support, increased RAM, an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip, and more. These new features coupled with inflationary pressures may lead to price increases for the devices.

I think most people are missing just how good the 15 Pro's will be, as long as Apple sort out the photo processing, which is hit & miss on the 14 Pro's

Better still make the camera units smaller!

Apple is playing the iPhone like a harp out of hell. They know this is not gonna last forever so they down to the wire on physical features. There is only so much you can do with a rectangle. I gotta give them credit though, the iPhone has remained relatively stable design wise. I saw some old Samsung Galaxy phones in MKBHD's Galaxy Z Fold preview recently; they have not aged well. They just look so gimmicky and weird. Apple will need to join the fold (no pun) and actually make an iPhone with similar design. I just hope they follow an actual passport book design and polish to make it look really well integrated. Software will be key, it will need to run more than 2 iOS apps at a time, it most have a floating Dock for multi-tasking

Have you looked at the Android phones out there? The vast majority have chins on them or bezels that are definitely thicker at the bottom of the phone. The Nothing Phone 1 was an instant buy from me as it was completely symmetrical with the bezels. I couldn’t get that even from a $1200 Samsung Ultra. I think iPhone now has the smallest bezels.

What I still hate is the whole notch/dynamic island design language. I would gladly take a fingerprint reader on the power button over having that huge cutout. A nice simple hole punch design would be fabulous.
Didn't samsungs s22 and plus have symmetrical bezels?
