I hope they don’t go along with the cable certification requirement…Let's hope it's for every model.
I'm happy to stick with lightning on my 11 for now, but I have a couple of USB-C cables all ready for any future model.
Not looking forward to this downgrade.
With the iPhone 15 lineup, Apple is planning to adopt a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port in order to comply with regulatory changes that are being introduced in Europe. The USB-C port has been widely rumored at this point, but a first look at the actual iPhone 15 Pro chassis with included USB-C port was today provided to MacRumors and later shared on Twitter by leaker Unknownz21.

It's not hard to imagine what a USB-C port on an iPhone looks like as a replacement for a Lightning port because Apple already uses USB-C ports for iPhones and Macs, but it is always interesting to get a look at leaked components. In addition to confirming a USB-C port for the iPhone 15 Pro, the image also provides the first glimpse at the tweaked curves rumored for the device.
Apple is expected to make some minor design updates to the iPhone 15 Pro chassis, adding a deeper curve that's visible in the leaked image. The company is also rumored to be transitioning to a titanium material instead of stainless steel, and the brushed metal of the device does look like it has a titanium finish.
With the transition to USB-C, Apple is planning to replace the E75 Lightning Controller with an E85 Port Controller, according to Unknownz21.
Note that while it is the iPhone 15 Pro shown with a USB-C port, the port update is coming to the entire iPhone 15 lineup, including the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The design refinements will be limited to the iPhone 15 Pro models.

You must have had a pretty poor experience. My wireless CarPlay is fine.Wired CarPlay is way more reliable than wireless in my experience.
How about using AirDrop like everyone else?Sure, Apple is last to the market with a USB-C port on their smartphone. But I still hold out hope they'll be first to the market with a USB-C port that maintains their legacy of only supporting USB-2.0 speeds. It shows strength of character to stick to a reliable, steady speed like USB 2.0, even if it is slower than the port on the original iPod. It makes you question each 4K video you take, when you consider the transport speed to your Mac, and whether that video is really necessary. Some call it archaic; I call it courage.
Connecting my SSD straight up feels like a fever dream, slowly becoming reality.
I'm willing to bet that kind of stuff will not work. EU mandates USB-C for charging and for charging it will be and for nothing else.
Why wouldn’t it work? Why limit it, at least for iPhone Pro models when iPad Pros can do dongle-free file transfers for years now?I'm willing to bet that kind of stuff will not work. EU mandates USB-C for charging and for charging it will be and for nothing else.
My iPhone 13 Pro is 16 months old.before taking delivery of my car on dec 29 2022, my 13 pro battery capacity was at 99%, now its at 92% and the only change of using habit was using the wireless charger from my car.
I hope Apple sells a usb a to usb c cable. Or at least doesn’t prevent a regular usb a to usb c cable from using CarPlay.Wired CarPlay is way more reliable than wireless in my experience.
I have been using magsafe since it came out. Battery is still at 96% after almost 2 years. Will take wireless charging over wired any day any time. I would’ve hope rather than stupid Qi Apple did something of their owni just used it 2 hours ago in my car, wireless charging sucks since it heats up the phone and kills the battery.
hm...My iPhone 13 Pro is 16 months old.
I have wirelessly charged it every single night since I got it using an Apple wireless charger.
Battery capacity is at 93%.
Wireless charging doesn’t kill batteries (not when done properly anyway).
