I will miss the lightening port… 😥
Me too! But it's the end of an era! This may sound weird but I still miss the retro 30-pin charging connector. It's aesthetic design for me.

Update: Interesting enough! Apple still sells the 30 min connector. This has to be one of the oldest cables being offered by Apple.

Sure, Apple is last to the market with a USB-C port on their smartphone. But I still hold out hope they'll be first to the market with a USB-C port that maintains their legacy of only supporting USB-2.0 speeds. It shows strength of character to stick to a reliable, steady speed like USB 2.0, even if it is slower than the port on the original iPod. It makes you question each 4K video you take, when you consider the transport speed to your Mac, and whether that video is really necessary. Some call it archaic; I call it courage.
I wouldn’t put it past apple to be this nefarious. Steve Jobs would have never allowed this.

Don't worry, that exact same front will be revisited on the iCar...

Right headlight • sensor • grill • sensor • left headlight

Only Apple can achieve that for sure😂 well said. It took Apple about 10 years to include the USB C port like the rest of the major competitors. I just hope we don’t have to wait for another 5-10 years to get rid of the notch.

Yup that definitely looks like a USB-C port to me.

Good riddance to lightning! My iPhone 12 Pro Max is still going strong but I'm tempted to upgrade just to get USB-C

Now we wait and see how Apple spins this. Will we get some nonsense about how brave and courageous they are for putting in USB-C and how much it'll change the world or protect the environment?? I'm sure Tim Apple will tell us all that he thinks we're going to love it! 🙏

Wait! Is it possible to charge your USB-C iPhone using a 5W charger? How do you connect this to a 5W charger? What else am I missing here??

(5W Apple USB-A charger) + (USB-A to USB-C Cable)

Step 1) plug in the USB-A end of the cable to the 5W Apple charger

Step 2) plug in the USB-C end of the cable into to the iPhone 15

Thank you for your response and explanation.

Apple doesn’t sell USB-A to USB-C Cable correct?

Can this be done with Apple-certified charging cables from Apple.com? Or our only option is to go third party?

Nope, Apple doesnt currently sell USB-A to USB-C cables

and to be honest, I dont think they will, so 3rd party cables are probably going to be our only option if we want to use the 5W Apple charger

This should have been implemented since they introduced the Pro line. And I am still with so many lightning Apple products such as keyboard / Beats pill / Apple Watch base etc … so will still carry multiple cable format … my parents are on android and one cable charge it all …
