Hard to believe, as it will also inevitably increase iPhone box sizes. Besides, have you seen the USB-C cable coming with Beats Flex? It’s super short, like 5 cm, if I remember correctly.

Colour-matching them also seems strange, considering all Apple’s environmental manifestos. What happens if a particular colour model does not sell well? All the respective cables to the bin?

Apple will happily sell you a replacement cable (for about 3X-10X the price of the same cable NOT from Apple). ;)

I won’t be able to use that in my car since it doesn’t have any usb c ports, only usb a. Now got a new problem on my hands.

USBaToUSBc.jpg

Currently < $2 each as I type this.

This may be a minority view but this is a very annoying size, at least for me.

For some reason my cables, strewn around my house, are perfect at either 3 feet of 6 feet.

3 feet is also perfect for my center console in my truck.

But maybe I've just designed my living space around prior cable sizes. 🤣
Apple been selling a USB-C braided charge cable that is 2 meters for a long time. They sell a non-braided 1 meter USB-C charge cable also. It would be odd to push out a 1.5 length example at all. They do have a 1.5 meter and .8 meter Thunderbolt 4 cables also.

So if you are upgrading your phone every year, what is the benefit of slow charging for you? Just to maximize battery life for that one year or is there something else I’m missing?
Unless she outright throws the phone away when upgrading, maximizing battery life makes sense regardless of when you upgrade. The next owner will be happy, and less resources will have to be spent on battery replacements.

I own a 15" MBA, iPad mini 6 and an iPhone 14 Pro. 2/3 of those devices are USB-C-only.
The only place I ever connect my iPhone to a cable is in the car (for Maps). Both of the cars in this household offer USB-A ports. So while moving to a 15 Pro would see one USB-C cable working with all of my devices, I'll still be buying new/additional cables/adaptors for the only place I actually use a cable - the car. Hmph.

Am I the only one that would prefer a SHORTER cable? I never use Apple's cables, always buy a 12" cable off amazon
The only place I use a cable to connect my iPhone is in the car. In that case, I like the idea of retractable as I hate excessive cabling all over the console. While there are two Qi chargers in my 2020 Toyota Tacoma (one factory - which is slow af, the other in an after-market consoles tray - also slow af), I do look forward to a day when I have a wireless CarPlay situation (and Qi powerful enough to charge an iPhone). Until the, USB-A cables it is.
