iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Models Now Available for Pre-Order

Same here. I was ready at 13:00, using the Apple Store app. Totally failed. Crashed on multiple screens, many times (selecting a store, selecting a pickup time, or if it allowed both of those, then an error message when confirming the order)! Luckily I checked via the website and it worked straight away for a pickup at my local store on 20th. Fingers crossed.

I’m part of the iPhone upgrade program but it’s worked seamlessly for the last few years. ??Greater demand this year maybe.

I don’t get it. Why do you have to wait another year? They’ll be back in stock within a few weeks if not earlier.

FOMO is over in a few weeks/months ;) There was no need to buy a new one, I just wanted one. An impulse buy if you like.

But the ordering system was so bad, just as @garry.gm above you also highlighted. Never seen anything like it. It is 2024, it is really not that difficult to reserve the stock and pickup slot whilst you are checking out, opposed to only booking it after check out to then figure out it is gone.
 
Never ordered on launch day before, but just picked up a white 512 GB Pro phone that is scheduled to arrive the first few days of October - I guess if I'd gotten up early enough, I could have had it the last week of September <shrug>. The trade-in value of my 13 Pro Max was too good, and the screen size is only negligibly smaller on the new 16 Pro. Since prices didn't go up from last year, the time was neigh!

I love Nomad cases, and also ordered the Horween "Chrome Green" folio, which should look pretty with the white phone cutout.

Frankly, I'm most grateful for USB-C across all of my devices.

The store was not up until 3 mins after 5AM PDT. But, the article was published at 5AM PDT 🤷‍♂️
 
I couldn’t order the phone though the upgrade program until about 1h after the release. Always got an error message that order could not be fulfilled. Was convinced i won’t upgrade from my 15 pro but tried again after about 1h and not can pick my phone up on Sept 20th. Titanium White, 256gb.
 
Arrives next Friday. iPhone16 Pro 512GB. White. I am so glad the non MAX has the same Cam/Lens setup. YAY! I like the smaller size since I use it as my camera for the stupid videos I make. Was tired of the larger BULK. VERY happy about the increase in MP for wide angle as I use this a lot. A subtle bump, but very welcome. 2x processing of video is going to be noticeable as well.
 
For some strange reason, I may have kind of a rarity of a phone: an iPhone 16 Plus 512 GB in Ultramarine blue. Seems like everyone wanted the iPhone 16 Pro Max, but I think that phone is overkill for most cellphone users.

Here was the strange kicker today. Went in this morning to order White,Max, 1 TB it would allow pickup, picked time the checkout. It would kick back and say only delivery is available. I picked multiple stores with the times and same error. I finally got tired and selected delivery which was in Oct. I went back online about an hour or so later put another phone in my basket and picked pickup on the 20th to the same store I tried before and this time it went through. Obviously something weird is going on with the system.

No bugs this year except the usual hassle of waking up for 5am and then having to wait a few minutes until the store opened. Flawless after that.

Not sure how you’re seeing that. I checked the app and the site again and that is not an option. There are 2 financing options: Apple Card payments and Citizens Bank financing. Both of them require selection of a carrier. It says it in each box. I financed my 14 Pro through Apple Card and it was not tied to a carrier last time.

You are probably right. The 16 Plus had the features I really wanted but I ordered the Pro Max anyway because I will be keeping it a few years and don’t want to risk regretting not getting the top model (will the base model keep up as AI improvements continue?). But we launch day buyers always skew towards the top end: most people don’t buy on launch day and the 16 plus will be more popular in the end.

Nice camera on the Pro models, but I’m not enough of a photographer to justify it on that basis.
 
iPhone 16 Pro 128GB White Titanium. I'm actually downgrading the storage this year. My 15 Pro storage utilization with 256GB was less than half. I think having 2TB iCloud storage helps keep the storage free. Any thoughts on why I should have gone for 256 again?

You do what is best for you, some person that does not know you can't really tell you why to get more or less storage
 
So demand seems a bit tacit, in my area anyway. Just did a quick sweep of the store and every size and color other than the higher capacity Pro Max's are available for in store pickup the 20th or the 21st. Buying my best friend a new phone this year to replace her ridiculously ghetto XS and she wants to wait until she can compare the 16 to the Pro and Max in person to get a feel for size and color before deciding. Pretty sure won't have any issue walking out with what she wants in hand next week. Maybe bad for Apple, but good for us, plus not feeling any hint of FOMO for skipping this generation and keeping my 14 either as evidently it's not just me.
 
Was waiting five min before 8am but only got the order through twenty minutes after 8am. Anyways, my 16 pro 256 white was still up for 20th delivery.

Don't think there was demand like last year. Liked the fact that did not have to keep on refreshing the page to access it though was not sure to refresh or not as here in India, the page did not open until 20 minutes into the pre order window.
