What’s the estimated battery life with 7 VPNs running? On my 13p @ 86% battery health it’s about 4 hours, which makes it difficult to hide from the feds and watch Netflix at the same time without my phone dying… hoping for atleast 6 out of this one..

Coming from a 12 mini, I have pre-ordered the 16PM; I need a larger screen now that age is no longer on my side, and my eyesight is a bit crap. Also, I think it will be easier to hold when taking landscape photos and videos. Roll on an Oct event for new iPads and Mac Accessories

Man, I'd sure hope that over $6000 worth of DSLR gear had the potential to produce better images than an iPhone.
Oh it does, but it’s great to have a really good camera package on what is in your pocket all the time. And people, remember to clean those little lenses off occasionally…

Pretty much just like the ipad pro m4. Same feature set apart from size and battery, although the iPP 13 is also slightly thinner.

The battery measurements are annoying. Playback of audio and video are essentially zero-compute tasks at this point, it's hardly surprising the life is *super* long with them.
Agreed - battery might be interesting this year for heavier users of Apple Intelligence

Glad Apple made this decision. I don’t want a massive phone but when buying a pro I expect all features to still be on my smaller model.

Not upgrading this year but if it’s the same case next year I’m in.

For all the Iphone16 hype the last few months, it is looking like a lackluster update. Maybe that’s why sales demand is predicted to be mostly flat. Disappointing to say the least. Probably ride the 14pro another year.

I'm in a bit of a weird stage of upgrades. I held off last year when the 15 Pro was initially launched, I ended up pulling the trigger on the 15 Pro Max in December and honestly, I think it was worth it. The 5x lens is super helpful, I use it all the time when I'm out with the family, also the additional battery life has been really great.

I think with the 16 Pro Max, even though the upgrades are minimal, I'm going to go for it again. I like the even better battery performance and the camera upgrades are worth it for me, because in truth, that's what I use it for the most. I love having such a capable camera in my pocket all the time and I especially want the best quality I can get whilst I'm out with my kids as these are photos I want to look back on in years to come. The new button looks like it will be especially useful and will make the phone further behave like a proper camera. So yeah, I'm in.

Apple is charging the same prices as last year for fewer features. For example, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max were priced at $999 and $1199, respectively, but had more differences between them. Now, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are priced the same, but offer fewer distinguishing features — unless I’m reading this wrong 🤷‍♂️

Did you mean "in the US"?,..in Australia its 100 cheaper.

After seeing the iPhone 17 Pro Max I might decide to buy iPhone 18 Pro Max or Foldable ones. Samsung and Google Foldable ones are almost same price with Tablet form factor but the only big issue with their foldables are their cameras which are downgraded compared to their XL Pro or Ultra variants.

Well you can kind of use a combination of your personal experience over the past year and what Apple claims the battery life is on the 15PM vs. 16P. Apple claims the 15PM lasts 29h for video playback and they claim 27h for the 16P. That’s a “two hour difference.” You can, sort of, subjectively say that as long you have ”about 2 hours“ of life left on your 15PM at the end of the day (or before you can reasonably charge), then you should be “fine” with the 16P battery.

I’m in your same situation. I plan on finally going back to a “smaller” phone now that both the 16P and 16PM are objectively the same phone (aside from battery and screen size). The battery should be fine in my case.
Literally just had this discussion with my spouse - the "Max" is finally feeling too big. With mostly feature parity, not feeling like I'm missing out.

Upgraded from a 12mini to a 15pro because the rumors were indicating it would be the smallest/lightest (non SE) phone for a few generations. Hoping at some point they can shrink the size again and fit these new components, like the telephoto lens, and get back to a reasonable form factor. Gonna be rocking this for 5 years at least.

I am really happy that both models have the same features. The main reason I didn't buy the iPhone 15 Pro last year was the lack of 5x telephoto lens on the Pro model. My father has the 15 Pro Max and oh my god it's too big for me!!!!

I’m very happy that that’s the case on this year’s iPhones and I hope that Apple continues to take this approach on future iterations of pro model iPhones

The Max is basically just bigger. Personally I think that's how it should be. Why should I have to decide between features vs having the size I prefer.

As it should. Drives me up the wall when Apple further segments the segmentation.

Really glad about this. That rumor was bumming me out because I always want the best camera but the Maxes are freakin' canoe oars and I prefer the standard size.
I need to know there isn’t a phone out there that has more features than mine. Even if that phone is bigger so it has the battery, thermals, and physical space to make the new features more feasible, I’d rather Apple withhold the new features from it and just fill it ONLY with battery so I feel better about not having it.

The advantages to Pro are screen, camera, battery and always on. So basically, if you don't need the always on, it's tough to justify. I am still thinking I could probably not go Pro finally but I need the battery life.

The bold statement isn’t correct, so you’re either using wrong logic or you’re meaning something different. They’re both gaining positive value (new features at same price), but the smaller Pro is gaining more value (new features) than the Max. That doesn’t make the Max have a negative value change. I really don’t know what meaningful conclusion one can make from this comparison. I guess if you really want both phones to gain value at the same rate, then you’re out of luck, but that just seems like a weird thing to get hung up on.

That's a weird take, fewer differences between two model tiers doesn't equate to fewer features for the same $$$. They have added features to the iphone 16 line and didn't increase price despite rising costs and adding features. So, you are getting more features for the same money and when factoring inflation, you are actually getting more features for less money.

Core differences remain the same - battery, size and storage, that's generally what you pay for between such pricing tiers.

iPhone 16 is also up to 2 grams heavier.
but it has blasted titanium edges instead of brushes ones, also the new capture button and an A18/ A18 Pro chip.

Last year, the iPhone 15 Pro was the smallest (width wise in the hand) of ALL the 15 phones. I bought it for that reason, then I wanted the 5X zoom & traded up for the 15 promax. Too big for everyday use even with XL glove size hands. Now, I want the 16 pro with the 5X camera zoom but sad to see it slightly bigger- but still a lot less than the max.

If i remember correctly, the iPhone 12 Pro Max had a slighly larger camera sensor than the Pro. That's not the case now regarding the 16 Pro vs Pro Max?

exactly. They are the same. That's the point they are making in this article. And good thing too. I hated having to give up features just because I wanted a smaller, more manageable size.
